My wife had a dinner interview(at another unnamed eating establishment in town) for a position on the fringe of the College’s administration. So, I tasked myself with finding acceptable Chinese fare, in case her efforts are rewarded with a job offer. In a word, «Success.» There being only one of me, I could only opine on a single dish — the Orange Chicken — endorsed by the server after I placed my order. The sauce was complex; the chicken pieces right-sized and tender. My only gripe would be to have more broccoli to soak up that sauce, and maybe limit the calories. The ambience is casual-classy, with a full bar(though I would not imbibe since my way-better half had to stay sober to maximize career-development hopes). On this Tuesday evening, there was a pleasant hum of conversation. Nothing a couple couldn’t quietly talk over. Should my wife land a job, we’ll be back — to dine in and/or take out.

Very good, fresh, and attractively served Chinese food. I ordered the beef with vegetables and was delighted at how fresh and perfectly prepared the vegetables were. Spring rolls were greasy so I would not order them again When we were there the service was great — attentive and timely.

Tooo Chinoise has a great atmosphere and a good staff. The food was good but a tiny bit pricy. They have an appropriate alcohol selection. The biggest problem is that the restaurant is quite small and is not insulated well. During the winter months, the entire restaurant notices people walking in and out because the temperature will drop several degrees. Either way, it is a good restaurant and I would recommend it.

What’s up with you guys consistently getting orders wrong during take out? Also it’s insane that I have to wait close to 40 minutes for food when the place is usually empty, it doesn’t make sense. The food on the other hand is great but having to wait upwards of an hour for a server to come by and get my order and then bring me my drinks is unacceptable. You guys need to get your s*** together because The Mandarin is on point. There food might not be as great as yours but they don’t screw up my order and they definitely don’t make me wait.

My mom recommend that we grab a bite to eat here before seeing a play, I was instantly won over with the phenomenal egg drop soup. I also liked the approach used in the typical dish of sweet and sour chicken; I loved that the plate was so vibrant in color due to the chicken being served over various slices of peppers. An absolute go to if you are in Obie and are looking to have a delicious meal.

Service is slow, food is overpriced and mediocre quality… They can’t even do fried rice well. Go to The Mandarin. Much better food and service.

My mother and I went for dinner. My mother ordered the orange beef and I ordered the salt and pepper shrimp. Little over half way through her meal she found an long piece of hair on her food. We showed our waitress and she took it to the owner. When brought to the owners attention he told her he could do nothing about it. We still had to pay full price for our meal! Now, I ordered two drinks during dinner and we ordered a $ 8.50 side of shrimp fried rice. So even if he just took off the one entrée, it wouldn’t have been a big lost, because of the three up sales. But he did nothing!!! He didn’t even come over to our table and talk to us! I’ve been a chef for almost 20 years, I also ran two restaurants and room service at a major hotel for four years. In my time I never had been in a situation where nothing could have been done to resolve a bad experience with a customer/guest. The waitress felt so bad she applied her own discount to the bill for some kind of resolution. Unfortunately we will not be back. If the situation was handled different by the owner, we could over look the hair. But I can’t honor a place that don’t look out for their guest.

There are two chinese places in Oberlin that do lunch specials. I have been to both a few times. Go to the other one. It’s cheaper, better food and has better service. I ordered fried rice from Tooo Chinoise. After waiting 30 mins, I received white rice with vegetables. No soy sauce or any sauce on it, no egg bits, definitely not fried. How do you mess up fried rice? I finished it and waited around 45 mins for the check. I was very confused where the waiter has disappeared to. Then my waiter walks through the front door with a bag of food from the store next door. Unbelievable that you would leave the place to get food in the first place during your shift and secondly, not get anyone to cover the your tables. Another time, they just didn’t bring one of my friend’s orders out and blamed us for the mix up.

Shout out to our waitress Maire! She was the friendliest and most attentive waitress I have encountered in a long long time! The food here is delicious along with having friendly staff. The restaurant is fairly small but the food packs a punch. My date and I ordered a TON of food. We started with the egg drop soup, spring rolls and dumplings. The egg drop soup was not the normal bright color yellow that most of us are used to eating. This soup was delicious and had mushrooms and carrots in it as well. We also ordered the teriyaki phở and the cashew chicken. Both were just as flavorful as the starters! We heard there is a late night menu that is different from the regular menu that starts at 10pm Thursday-Saturday night. We are going back soon to check out that menu as well!

Went to this place 2 days ago during my audition in the oberlin conservatory of music. I went there at the beginning of the dinner time which is around 5pm and I was shocked by the waitress that I will have to wait 40 mins for my to go dish. I mean seriously 40 mins for a veggie Lo mein and egg drop soup?! I still waited and the food was ok.(I mean I am coming from sf!) however I can’t find any forks or chopsticks in my takeout bag. I’m glad I always prepare my own in my traveling baggage. The waitresses are actually very friendly. I revolts you call and order first by phone rather than sit and wait there for 40 mins.

Past the dining room the place is so disgustingly filthy I would not order a thing other than something in a hermetically sealed bottle. Oh, and the bar stools are so flimsy and cheap they, along with the all too transparent doors into the ill lit kitchen, become the proverbial ‘never get a second chance at a first impression’. Not coming back.

I love Tooo Chinoise. The food has always been fantastic, especially the veggie wonton soup and spring rolls. In the past few years, the décor and design have been greatly improved, and the staff is way better. The service these days is top notch. The girl who is probably the bar manager really knows her stuff. Can’t wait to go back.

One of my favorite lunch spots. The portions large and delicious while being reasonably priced. Here are the things I have tried with a score from one to five. Chicken Zha — Jiang Mein– 3(5 if you add a side of sesame sauce to the top) Sesame Chicken– 4 Hot and Sour soup– 5 Fried rice– 3 Pot stickers– 5 Egg roll– 3 Spring roll-5 Egg drop soup– 2. I am sure I have had more but these are my go too favorites. This is a great little date place or just a nice place to catch up with old friends. Take-out is good too.

Too Chinoise is a beautiful dining experience. The location in downtown Oberlin(undeniably my favorite city in the US), is ideal. Their hot & sour soup is mind-blowing and actually spicy, and it is refreshing that they accommodate vegetarians more than most places. I have taken my son there a multitude of times when visiting Ohio, and feel privileged to be a patron of this clean and favorable establishment.

If your poor soul happens to be hungry for Asian fare and stuck in Oberlin, you’ve only got two options and both of them are«Chinese». Compared to the Mandarin, this place is 5 stars. Just don’t go there. Go here. Because you’re in Oberlin, you have to throw all«authentic» expectations out the window. Once you do that, you’ll have an excellent time :) The décor of Too Chinoise is nice, and not in any way«chineesy». The black walls and drark wood furnishings give the restaurant a pleasant contemporary feel. The food at Too Chinoise is tasty. They do decent potstickers, the vegetables are steamed nicely, and the dish portions are nothing to complain about. My absolute favorite dish is the Crispy Beef! The beef is cut a little thinner than the slice consistency of a beef broccoli dish, and then I think it’s deep fried and covered in a spicy glaze. So good! I’ve also had friends brave the icy cold and biting wind just to pick up a takeout order of their Fried Rice. Worth a try!

This is just really bad — the food is typically drenched in gooey, goopy, nasty sauce. Yuck. The items on the menu that are ok are the soups.

Neat little place, particularly in a small college town where even the one horse might find the pizza places and cafes a bit of a drag after a while. It provides some welcome diversity of cuisine without having to drive someplace bigger. Great little bar too!

Remodeled with a new attitude. Place has a bar and late night menu now. Drinks are cheap, food is a tad expensive. Food tastes much better as well. Note that they are still working out the kinks for the late night hours but if you want fast service, just sit at the bar if you can, otherwise you may be sitting down at a table before a waitress acknowledges your existence. I don’t know if I like the fact that this place is turning towards fusion cuisine but if it tastes great, I guess I shouldn’t complain.

Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this restaurant anymore. In recent months, this place has taken a tremendous turn for the worse. This is toooooooo bad as the atmosphere continues to be very nice in side. The food has become extremely greasy. Gone is the distinctive presentation that once made this place stand out. It seems some of the meats in the dishes have been replaced with lower quality meats. On a recent visit, my friend and I ordered vegetable fried rice, seasame chicken, egg rolls and soups. The egg rolls tasted extremely funny. My friend found that the seasame chicken tasted plain wrong. Indeed, Not 15 minutes after the meal, we both proceeded to get violently ill for the next hour. Since we both got sick at the same time, this tells me that it was most likely the food at this place. I can only imagine how much worse it would get if we were to go the next time. Also, the service leads much to be desired. It almost seems as if your waitress is waiting your table, washing your dishes and cooking your food. In the recent times, I have found it to be very slow and awkward. Some of the waitresses seem to be very spacy if not the least bit unfriendly.
