Endless Baskets

Called today Had fantastic customer service for special order delivery from Chef Edie. She told me if I wanted to visit in future they had moved from the Kings Fort location to 6998 W Highway 27 I will be sure to visit new location.

A small place with great deal of character and taste. When we drove by and saw the signs on the window: Fromagerie & Charcuterie, I had to stop in and look. When we saw that they not only sold cheese and paté, but also served lunch we were even more curious. The smell of fresh bread and the handwritten menu specials on a board on the wall were enough to convince us to stay.
We were very impressed by the freshness, the taste, and the originality of the food.
We started with a Polenta with chicken broth and parmesan. It didn’t sound French, and to be honest it was more of an Italian dish, but the taste was «incroyable.»
I had a Mesclun Salade avec dattes, fromage bleu, pommes, et amandes that was absolutely delicious. The vinaigrette was perfectly balanced. It was accompanied by two pieces of raisin walnut bread, one was covered with a ginger-​lemon-​peach conserve, the other with a slice of creamy home-​made bleu cheese. It was huge, but it was so good, I had to eat all of it.
My wife went for a ham and cheese on ciabatta sandwich, which was accompanied by a smaller version of my salad, a small dish of marinated black olives, a nice serving of cornichons and a few slices of saucisson.
Edie, the chef, prepared the main dishes when we ordered them. Nikki, who attended us with efficiency and real charm, informed us that though they serve lunch on weekdays they are only open for dinner once a week, but since the place is so small, reservations are a must.
After lunch we sampled some magnificent chocolate truffles and a «paté de chocolat» that was unbelievably smooth, light and delicious. It’s not a paté as such, no meat here, but a bar of the most incredible chocolate ever.
We bought some fresh baked bread and some country style paté to bring home.
We will definitely be back for more soon.
