Fire Island Ferries

Quick service to fire island– i like to sit up top and it turns out to be a nice boat ride :) its cash only!!!

Went to Fire Island twice this summer.
The only way to get there during the summer is to take the ferry since they don’t allow driving during the busy season.
The ferry is 9 dollars each way.
A little expensive in my opinion but then again gas prices are through the roof.
During the day time it is really nice to sit on the top deck. There is a nice breeze and you can enjoy looking at all the expensive houses along the water that you wish you could afford.
Don’t forget sunglasses and sun screen. I forgot both so the sun was glaring in my eyes and I got burned because it was clear blue skies.
If you sit on the lower deck be careful of the open windows. If the water is rough, you will get splashed with water.
If you get sea sick this boat is not for you.
Otherwise enjoy! It is a nice calming experience especially in the summer.

Fast service to and from Fire Island — We went to Oceanside. The top really heats up so if you like it hot ride the top during the day. The cool night breeze is very refreshing on the way back, but remember If you ride the top expect to get wet because you will.

It’s the only way to get to Fire Island unless you have your own boat or a permit to drive, so they got the market cornered. They provide a good service and I can’t say anything negative. However, I got tired of having paper schedules and really tired of using the ferry company’s website. So I built an iphone app that has all the Fire Island Ferry schedules on it and its totally FREE!
