Not that great with ice cream IMO. I got the small strawberry slush with vanilla ice cream and I could hardly taste the strawberry. The ice cream wasn’t much to talk about either. I might just be spoiled by my Pelican’s sno-ball eating habits but to me, the experience wasn’t worth $ 4.50 :/

Pretty good Italian ice, and I’m an ice cream guy. It was very smooth and creamy. Twice the price as breakers next door but worth the extra money.

Oh YUM! I’m all about the slushies during vacation and Sunset Slush is doing it right. Taking up a tiny corner of the Ocean Isle Pier, they’ve got ALL kinds of flavors and sizes for every appetite. They even have a souvenir cup you can purchase. With two windows to order from, this is a «walk through» slush stop. They have a lovely patio area or you can order from an inside window next to a pretty run down arcade. I will warn you that some of the flavors will dye your teeth(the orange Creamsicle and tangerine) so might not be a good idea to come here on a beach date. I tried the piña colada and lemon-line and enjoyed would definitely order both again. Plus, Sunset Slush is located right off the beach, so you can take it down to the sand and walk through the water if you’re really feeling beachie. I also love that there are little«sunset slush» carts that are pushed around all over the sandy beaches of Ocean Isle. Unlike some things you might buy directly off the beach, Sunset Slush is a DO buy! Definitely recommend stopping here during the day for a refresher, or after a long walk in the evening for a late night treat.

I’ve gotten The Donald twice and it is amazing. Very sad to go back to Ohio where there is nothing like this. You should try it, it is the perfect beach treat!

Perfect! This place is perfect! Sunset Slush is the absolute, dare I say, perfect spot for a sweet treat. The staff is extremely friendly and they made a few jokes here and there. The Italian ice is delicious, although it is a tad pricey, but definitely worth it! They have a ton of flavors and I tried to have them all(one week wasn’t enough time), but all the flavors I had were delicious. I highly recommend getting the OMG or the Donald. One of my favorite parts of vacation!

This is the best Italian ice I’ve ever had. I never got excited about this stuff until Sunset Slush. What makes it so good is that the ice isn’t completely frozen, it actually has more of a sorbet texture. So it’s very flavorful and smooth. They have a stand at the pier where they have TONS of flavors with some very unique ones as well. They also have push carts that go up and down the beach. Make sure you get the ones from the cart with a black and yellow umbrella. There’s an imposter sunset slush called Carolina Quench, it’s just basically snow cones so don’t get that one. A little pricey but hey it’s the beach and it’s good! I think my favorite flavor so far is the Zombie(all their fruity flavors mixed together). So good!

Love this when we are at the beach. Many flavors to choose from and I like to get a gelati with half slush, half vanilla ice cream. Black cherry is my favorite, but mango is good too. They also bring a cart to the beach in the afternoon with 3 or 4 flavors.

This is a wonderful little shop just off the beach. The prices are very good in comparison to the value of the product. The list of flavors is impressive and they can be mixed with vanilla or chocolate ice cream. I suppose you could add both, I just haven’t mixed them together yet. If you are looking for a mid-day snack to cool you off or a delicious dessert this is a wonderful stop. There are two windows to place your order, one outside and one inside. The staff are very friendly. There are koozies to order and when you bring them back and get a refill it is a discounted rate. This is a nice little local shop that every town would be lucky to have.

Outstanding – the best sweet treat on the beach. Delightfully cold and light, Sunset Slush is really Italian ice, not slushy at all. It comes in a dizzying array of flavors and combinations of flavors; you could try a different mix every day and not run out of options all summer. I prefer the fruity flavors over the heavier, creamier ones like chocolate, but they will happily let you taste a sample if you can’t decide. If you still can’t decide, do what our family does: go back again and again!

On this recent trip to OIB, I was bound and determined to visit the new Sunset Slush location at the fishing pier, right on the island. I got to do this not only once but twice, and it still is a good frozen treat no matter which location you choose. Still liking my mainstay flavors of lemon and tangerine Italian ice, I was introduced to Sonic flavored slush/Italian ice(lime and cherry together) and I love it. I am adding it to the list of my fave flavors to enjoy. You can still get the small, medium, or «coozie» sizes as like all other locations and cart on the beach. Still good, still a «gotta have» when at OIB. The entrance if going inside at this specific location is a bit awkward, entering into a «open-room» that is apparently only used for karaōke or night entertainment, but the inside service window is right inside the door. It has an outside service window however that has at some tables to sit out and enjoy without going into the building if you want. Cool option. Bottom line: Still good stuff! You can read my original review of the first location to get the low down. I am glad they have a location on the island now!
