I’ve been going to McElroy’s for a couple years now. The service is usually okay and food for dinner is so-so. Well, the breakfast is good and every Sunday the last few months, we have called in an order for pick-up. Today, I am told they only do that if they are dead and will not take my order. That is completely unacceptable business with inconsistency like that. And, The manager even refused to speak with me!!! We only went for BREAKFAST because that was the only thing they served that was good, but that ship has sailed also!!! Disappoint is an understatement! People amaze me!

What has happened to this Ocean Springs landmark? The food was terrible. Went with another couple for a Saturday night dinner. There was NOONE there, the place was almost empty. The food was terrible. Shrimp was overcooked, small, and not fresh. Scallops were overcooked, irregular, not fresh, and I really don’t think they were scallops. I was so disappointed. Will not go again. Need to find a different«go-to» place for a nice dinner. This is not it! So disappointed.

This is the worst restaurant that we have experienced since moving to the gulf coast. After giving them four tries we will not be going back. Last night was a disaster. We ordered a ½ dozen oysters as stated on the menu. The waitress took our order and served 6 oysters. After we ate them, we were told by another person that they no longer offered a ½ dozen(even though a ½ dozen was on the menu) and we’re going to be charged for a full dozen even if we did not accept another 6. I ordered crab claws and they were cold and as hard as a brick. Anytime we needed anything we had to find a waitress as it was apparent that one was not assigned to our table. A person with us ordered a glass of wine and had to go to the server twice to see where it was. Finally, after two tries she asked the waitress who was talking to the bartender about it again, it was next to her on the bar and she said that she forgot about it. When we checked out they charged us for another persons check.

had breakfast her, id give it a 3+ star… got the shrimp and grit cake, good cake good sauce, only negative was used asian shrimp… in this area it would be better with about 4 large gulf shrimp and offsr an egg over easy for an additional $ 1 and add a piece of toast for«sopping», but the dish was still good, husband liked his Southsrn omelet enough to finish it off completely. acter hearing anothsr diner complement the biscuits, I wish I’d gotten one on the side. The service was small town friendly which is a very good thing.

Stopped by for lunch and it was amazing. Started off with the Shrimp & Crabmeat cheesey bread then finished up with Shrimp & Scallops platter. Will definitely come back my next trip down.

This place is definitely for tourist who dont know great gulf coast foods. I doubt I’ll be back. Over priced and cannot accommodate large groups. I say that because they had a lil over 45 people in their tiny banquet room, which they said would fit and it did not. Over crowded and under served. They only had 2 servers for this large group. Last night was my Mother-in-law and Father-in-law ’ s 59th wedding anniversary. They wanted to go to McElroy’s on the Bayou. So my husband and I, my Sister-in law, her son, my Brother-in-law, and my In-laws all went to eat. First, we asked for the smoking section and we’re told that they didn’t have one. We asked if we could sit in the bar area so that the men could watch the game on the TV. The server took our orders, 3 whole fried flounders and 3 Ribeyes, and a smothered chopped steak. When she came to serve the food, she“auctioned off the food. Now, you have to understand that WEWERETHEONLYPEOPLEINTHERESTAURANT. It’s not like she was really busy and couldn’t remember who had what. I think is really tacky to auction off the food. She then asked if we needed anything else and walked away. She didn’t return until we were about halfway through our meals. She did not inquire if our steaks were cooked to our liking,(and mine was fairly overcooked). WE had to ask for to-go boxes and she did not ask if we wanted desert. We had even told her that it was their anniversary. I know for a fact that this restaurant at least used to offer an ice cream sundae for either birthday or anniversary occasions. So, after dinner, the smokers went outside to have a smoke while the Matriarch finished her flounder,(3 of the 5 were outside in the cold) and when we came back inside my sister-in-law was sitting at the table with an ashtray, smokjng. After they had told us they did not have a smoking section, we somehow wound up in one anyway. Hmmm. So, I know it’s late, and my Mother-in-law eats really slowly, but the fact that they started clearing the table while she was all drinking her coffee, makes me really mad. She is an 85 year old woman. We paid the same money that the people that came in there at 6:00 did. We should be given the same respect. Not only did they start clearing the table they started with the towel and the spray bottle and cleaner at the other end of the table. I am giving 2 stars because the place was clean and DAMN I know the food USED to be good

We came here for lunch while visiting Ocean Springs and it was great. The best part is the deck in the back over looking the water. So pretty. We had scallops and crab claws and they were delicious. Friendly staff too.

Stopped in for lunch on a Monday afternoon and really wish we hadn’t. It may be a good breakfast spot but the lunch was largely inedible from start to finish and makes Red Lobster look like a 5 star gourmet place. It wasn’t until later on we found out from others that they were deemed subpar and further regretted giving them our money. And after we grudgingly paid for the food we got in the car and remembered we did not even receive the gumbo we ordered and paid for it too. Based on the other food it was likely a good thing. Sad to see this space so poorly represented as it is a good location. We left as fast as we could and will not return.

There is another location in Biloxi but the one here in Ocean Springs is the one my family ate here twice. Breakfast on Sunday morning was outstanding and one of the few places open at this time. Great food for the prices and pretty traditional fare. Also went for Thursday night supper and Kevin was so wonderful at making us feel at home. Had wonderful grilled oysters as an app and then peel your own shrimp as main dinner from the app section of the menu. Wow portion size and price was exceptional. This is family dining and no trendy chi chi stuff going on here. Top notch start to finish. Nice view of the water and plenty of chairs outside.

Best gumbo I’ve had in a long time and that’s coming from a guy who lived in Louisiana for 7 years. Service was friendly and food was timely. Back patio overlooking the«bayou» had a great atmosphere complete with mood lighting. Great experience. Will go back for sure!

Fantastic Oysters. Got a dozen oysters for 7 dollars! How can you beat that when the oysters taste better than 99 percent of the overpriced oysters in Florida. What a great view and great service. Some of the nicest waitresses ever! Next time I am back on the bayou I will definitely go back to try some of their other dishes.

Good atmosphere. Our food took longer to prepare therefore we were given complimentary dessert. Overall the food was good but shrimp are small. And I dont get the concept of crackers and butter that they give at the beginning of the meal.

I give them 4 stars for their shrimp and grits, price and hospitality. The décor is old and the ceiling tiles need cleaning but don’t let that deter you. The view of the bayou is also very pretty.
