Food was great, and I’m glad we now have decent curry in Sussex county. Really enjoyed the hard boiled egg with what seemed to be a jalapeño sauce of sorts. I had the curried tofu, which was tasty. It really wasn’t THAT spicy, as was indicated, but maybe I am just accustomed to some serious heat. Can’t wait to go back!

On a gorgeous summer evening in late July, my boyfriend & I cycled to our town brewery expressly for the purpose of eating at the Jakarta’s Indonesian food truck. They had been parked at the brewery since 2p and were sold out of most of their menu items. To us, this promised only good food ahead. We ordered the spicy dumplings, Javanese chicken fried noodles, and Indonesian street chicken tacos. As we ate, the only words uttered were, «Oh my god, so good.» over and over. We were so busy eating that we failed to properly photograph the beauty of the food. The dumplings were of perfect sticky & firm consistency with no chewy over-cooked texture. The spicy inside of the dumpling is legit southeast asian spicy — not americanized spicy. We found every texture, spice, and flavor to be completely on point. The cilantro fresh, the corn taco’s handmade and soft, the noodles with that spicy sweet flavor that we now are craving. The food items we purchased were priced $ 7-$ 9. Kiky, the chef, is Indonesian & is as delightful as the food she prepares. Her husband Dave run the«front of truck» and was informative & friendly. We were their last customers of the night and Kiky graciously surprised us with the remaining curry sauce to take home. Follow Jakarta on Facebook or find them at This food is a treasure to have in Southern DE& the owners are wonderful people to support. Find their truck and enjoy!

Just had Jakarta’s for the first time and we are already hoping to catch them out again soon. I ordered the chicken satay, which I had never had before and loved it so much. It came with four skewers with chicken served over white rice with carrots and cucumbers. The chicken was cooked perfectly and the sauce was great. My fiancé ordered the curry chicken tacos and he loved them as well. Would absolutely recommend and would love to order from them again
