I love love love old bars with lots of character! There are several in Oceanside like the PCH Sport Bar and Grill and Pier View Bar & Grill… It’s just a fabulous place to have a cocktail during the Sunset Market … going on just outside the bar… every Thursday night! We’ve watched football games and played pool here too. The PIRATE THEME is just PERFECT! The only thing I would change is the bathroom. lol

I love this bar! The bartenders and bouncers are the sexiest and most amazing people ever! They make wicked drinks and have great daily specials!

It’s been 20 minutes like I’ve been here and the vibe feels like someone zipped my hoodie up to my throat and is like holding it there. Pinching the skin even.
These guys are hot but they smell. Do men even shower? Ever?
My nose hairs are burning. And I moved my seat and they are STILL Cleaning with it?! Maybe if my eyes burn out of my skull they will stop dousing the bar with it?
Wait. What time is it? It’s actually 845. It’s a bar it’s wends day night even so I’m thinking their not closing soon. WDUT?

I’ve tried to like this place cuz Ive been here a few times and just moved here but I’ll def. take my business to every other, I mean ANY other dive bar in Oceanside. They have a $ 10 minimum when all I wanted was a beer. So the bartender said ‘well do u want a shot then?’. Of course I said yes! But I realize now that’s how they bump up their sales. Shadyyy! Haha BUT that’s not what made me write this review… the deal breaker was when she asked to see my drivers license and when I asked why she said ‘it’s for precaution’… Precaution for what?!? Oh ya, she didn’t answer me! So now she has me credit card number, My name, AND my drivers license number written down. The only people that want that kind of info are fu*king hackers & thieves! Who the hell owns this $hit hole and why do I feel like I live in Nazi Germany going here? I won’t be returning. Nor will I take any friends from out of town here. Terrible business.

I’ve always had a great time when ever I come here. Great place to hang out and social drink and the random experiences here can’t be beat. Can get really cramp at times but hey if it’s pack something right must be going on. Always like the fact that when it’s slow during the day I can eat food that a I bought else where and chill drink a few beers and relax.

First time to Cali. First time to this bar. «Sammy» flipped out and almost cried bc someone tried to ring her bell… Tried to kick out a guy having fun on the dance floor even tho just two hours before a bunch of her drunk girls were on there. Super chill place with pirate like decorations everywhere and a great crowd of people.

I always have fun here! The décor is really cool lots of interesting things to look at.
The prices on beer are cheap! My friend and I had 5 beers and the check was under 20 dollars. Great price!
The only thing Is every bartender that I’ve seen has been very rude. Not even giving me the time of day, it’s so hard to get there attention they don’t care and just ignore people.

I’m not sure what this last reviewer (Lady G) is referring to here. «Joking» to someone about how they let them in the bar simply because of lewd sexual actions is distasteful at the least and in no way to be viewed as a valid basis for a negative review.
The woman she is referring to is one of the best people in the bar and by no means is rude and confrontational. I always get the best service ever, especially from bartenders Alex and Sam. Not only do they know what I like to drink and get it for me without asking, but they always do it with a smile and make me feel like part of the Haunted Head family.
I have been going to this bar for the last three years and can only rave about the awesomeness they convey. All I can say is… Get yourself down to the Head and have a great time with awesome people!

I went to this place last night with my friend and just the overall experience sucked! The bathrooms were horrible, they don’t even have doors on the stalls, their curtains, so you have no privacy at all. I ordered a draft domestic beer which was supposed to be $ 4, when it was finally time to close out I got my bill and she charged me $ 9 ! When we went to ask what was up with the extra $ 5 the bartender finally told us after she ran my card that their was $ 10 minimum.. So WHY only charge my card $ 9? Shady bartender. I don’t recommend this place at all whatsoever.

So I was in tonight with my friend. The bartender Jessica over rang us on our card for coffee we did not order? When I questioned it she said it was a $ 10 minimum for a card, which we we’re not aware of. So we asked if we can just get a shot to replace the 6.00 we owed after only ordering 1 beer. She then poured us 2 shots. When I went to take the recipient she originally rung us up for, she got mad and told me no! I took it anyway and she grabbed my shot and dumped it out. We left right after that. We are not from around here and stopped by for 1 drink on our way back to San Diego from LA, and this was the worst service I have ever had! I will definitely not recommend going. I expect management or owners to do something about this immediately or I will take this further then Unilocal.Here is a picture of the bartender who steals from the bar and customers. Solid 3-​star venue. Pirate themed, dark interior, various electronic games around. Huge crowd. Decent craft beer selection on tap, but not as extensive as Pier View Pub. However, the ambiance here is a bit more fun. Definitely worth a stop in during your Oceanside bar crawl.

Great dive bar, friendly, attentive. Pool, foosball, pirate’s. Not sure if they have a grill, did see people eating.
Will definitely try again.

The place was fine, until I checked my bank account and noticed an extra $ 8 added on to my receipt!
I ordered a $ 4 beer, but only had a card so I went ahead and ordered a nasty shot of whiskey to go with, because the minimum was $ 10 to use a card.
Frankly, then bartender was rude, but I gave her the benefit of the doubt that she was probably just busy. Three days later I checked my bank account to see that I was charged $ 18 when all I wanted was a $ 4 beer! And I don’t find it a coincidence that a 0 is pretty easy to turn into an 8…
When I called to ask about it, the girl on the phone’s response was «Well, did you leave an $ 8 tip?» Uhm, no! Hence the reason I’m calling. The owner did get back to me, which I appreciated, but her response was «Sorry for the inconvenience». I’d consider being ripped off more than an inconvenience… I won’t be taking them up on the offer to pick up my $ 8 from the bartender next time I’m in, because I won’t be returning.

Went this past weekend with a group of friends, from outside the place can be a little intimidating. Giving off a different vibe than what’s waiting for you inside. Place was lighted just enough to see what your doing but dark enough to enjoy. It can get very stuffy so that’s a downside, the foosball and pool table are located near the front and are a great touch. Jukebox is loud enough to enjoy and very inexpensive.
** bartender did notify me that she could not find my debit card and was panicking as if it was her own, offered to take my number and call me if found and didn’t make me pay tab. Within the next 5 minutes she finds my card and gives it back to me again apologizing. And still didn’t make me pay for tab! That was something I didn’t expect and wasn’t necessary but greatly appreciated. Overall I enjoyed my night and will be returning.

Definitely a dive bar of the dive bars in this area. It is usually pretty dead during the daytime and swarms of people of all sorts and ages come in during the afternoon and night. Definitely a lot of drunken marines come here at night.
There is one pool table inconveniently places just as you come in the front entrance right past the unfriendly security guards. The bar is pirate themed and there are a lot of cool things to stare off at when you don’t want to be started at by a gangster or blacked out service member. It gets really hot in here in the summer and they usually only run large fans to cool it off. They have a jukebox so you can jam out to whatever you are feeling that day/​night/​morning. There is minimal seating when it gets packed and you will definitely find yourself standing squished between an Amy Winehouse look-​a-​like and Private Ryan.
The drinks are stiff and cheap!!! Very stiff. Go here is you want to get messed up for a little bit of money. Also, go here if you love a rough crowd and interesting characters. They have a full bar and many diff beers on tap and bottled.
Certain bartenders are cool and certain are definitely burnt out. Spend a weekend night here and you will definitely sprout one or two extra hairs on your chest the next morning. I personally love dive bars and enjoy this place in small spread out amounts.

Meh I have been to better bars. No offense but it always smells musty up in here lol! The lines at the bar to get drinks takes forever and they def will cater to the Marines first. Cool décor so they do have that going for them just bartender service is not good.

To be honest, I was very skeptical about this place. You could tell it was full of locals. It seemed dark and grungy and being a preppy dude from Georgia I was kinda like… ehhhh IDK … but, NEVER JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER. I read a few good reviews and decided to give it a try.
I walk in with my bud and sat at the bar. Everyone was super chill, super friendly and laid back. The bartenders knew their drinks and the patrons were fun and silly. The ceiling of the bar is full of single dollar bills you can write on and have it placed along with the others so we did that.
This bar is just fun and chill and no one is on your shit.

This bar can be a hit or miss, but tonight it was neither… more like the middle.
Immediately I was greeted by the bartender and I sat at the bar enjoying the overly loud mixture of music (rap to Taylor swift then mariachi music) literally. I asked if I could keep a tab open and the girl mentioned she gets out in about 30min and I had to pay my tab then or wait for the next bartender. I really hate when I’m forced or pressured to pay my tab at the convenience of her making money. I decided to walk off the weird vibe and see what else they had to offer besides the pool table and discovered their 50¢ foosball table. Of course I had to get down on it!
During the game I was midway through my beer when I started smelling something strange. A weird odor that I could not put my finger on. I looked around to see if it was someone that may have bad B.O. but nope… everyone was looking like they showered today so that couldn’t be it. I looked at my glass cup and decided to sniff it… long behold, I found the problem.
I’m not quite sure how they clean their glassware but you can easily see some foggy markings around the cup telling me they don’t rinse or sanitize these cups correctly. The odor was very horrific that I had to put my half finished beer down.
I work in a restaurant business myself, and knowing little problems like these definitely pisses me off! I was watching how they clean their cups and I saw the girl dunk it in a sink then immediately place it in a shelf to dry… their was no 3 compartment sink or a machine to run them through. Ewwwww!
I immediately paid my tab and quickly left. I will never come back to this place. First the rude notice that the bartender gets off at a certain time to pay my tab, now dirty cups!?!
I would not recommend any one of my friends or family to come here. Even if they have good deals on drinks, its not worth it to get sick over.
