Edwards of Ocracoke

A lovely place! I have seen a lot of dirty beach hotels. I was pleasantly surprised by how clean these rooms are, and modern. The wifi is very fast. The bed was very comfortable. I highly recommend.

If your expecting a Hilton or Marriot (where I stay, 95% of the time, 100+ days a year) this may not be your place. On the positive side we found great and friendly service, a clean and comfortable room and a very quite night of sleeping. On the negative no coffee maker in the room (but great coffee 200 yards away starting at 0700), no ironing board or tissue boxes either. If you can deal with that you might really enjoy this place. BTW we’ll be back next year…

Everything was fine until I had returned home and received an email from Trudy Clark (owner) informing me that she was only refunding half of my cleaning deposit, because, and this is as close to a quote as possible…
«You did not follow the check out instructions and left dirty towels on the floor of the bathroom instead of putting them in the laundry bag, you also did not fold the dirty bedding on the bed.»
Huh? Charge me an hour and a half extra cleaning because there were four towels on the floor of the bathroom and I didn’t fold the DIRTY bedding?
Are you kidding me? Are you in such financial trouble you work to make up excuses to take customers money?
Before this email, I was absolutely looking forward to coming back and staying at Edwards of Ocracoke, now I will never stay there again, and am writing this, my first negative review of anyone or anything on the internet.
Trudy, I hope that $ 25 was really worth ruining my memories of staying at your hotel.

Great accommodations and very courteous owners. The room was very clean, very well priced and not far from anything (But what on Ocracoke is?). We will definitely go back and become regulars. This is Ocracoke like Ocracoke was!

Stay at Edwards of Ocracoke and you’ll take a step back in time.
I entered my cottage via the screen front porch. My room had double beds, a full sized refrigerator, stove & oven with pots, dishes, and utensils, and a small tv connected to DIRECTV.
Outside in the courtyard was a porch swing, tables and chairs, bicycles for rent for the guests, a recycle bin that all guests are encouraged to use, and an area for guests to fillet their fish.
My only negative comment about the room was the rather small shower stall.
Before checking in here or at most any property on Ocracoke Island, make sure you understand all of their policies. Once you have made your reservation, it is considered something that cannot be cancelled. They will send via email all of the details.
This was a pleasant, quiet place to stay.
