I would suggest passing on this place. Okay, I am one to have an open mind. I have found many gems in in-the-ground locations but this is not one. We picked up from here and right away my alarm bells were going off but we ordered anyway. I ordered sweet n sours chicken with fried rice and my husband got general tso’s chicken. The food had no flavor and tasted old as if it had been sitting a while. Too much soy sauce already on the fried rice. The biggest thing was my concerns with the cleanliness of the place carried over when we got it home. Not worth it, move on.

This place has become my go-to spot for Chinese takeout. Pretty much everything on the menu is awesome! Huge portions, lots of flavor, and many options to choose from. The combination platter is what I normally get. Includes an entrée, egg roll, and white or fried rice. The wonton soup is out of bounds delicious! They drive it through flavor town and put it in a bowl :-) As far as the establishment itself, it doesn’t scream«OMG have to stop their and eat inside» But, it does have your typical takeout vibe to it. Nothing special. They do have seating inside but I never see people dining inside. The service is pretty awesome too. They always give you an estimated time when your food will be ready which is great. So, grab your chopsticks… if you can, and enjoy some awesome Chinese food.

Recently tried this place out and probably won’t be returning. We ordered general tsos and beef lo mein. Both dishes had very little flavor. The general tsos wasn’t even spicy and was burnt, the fried rice that came with it was overcooked as well. The lo mein was basically all noodles. We got it for take out but from first impression of the inside I wouldn’t have ordered there. The lighting was extremely dark and food on the buffet looked like it had been there all day. The plus to this place is you do get a lot of food with your orders but unless you plan on adding lots of sauces yourself I suggest going else where

Just moved to the area, thought I would try this place. Simple order 4 piece wing and French fry. They take one whole wing break it in half and sell it as a two piece. So if you want three whole wings you would have to order a 6 piece. It caught me off guard. When called the lady she got kinda nasty while explaining how they do things. Shrimp fried was was ok. Chicken was a little to done for me anyway. I’ll pass next time.

I am a take-out regular here, so I have had a good mix of the items on their menu. A couple thoughts: 1. There are several places in the area with«Hunan» in the name and I have overheard phone order confusion several times when picking up my food. Pro tip: Verify which place you called and avoid an awkward apologetic conversation. 2. Of the several«Hunan» places in the immediate area, this is my favorite. 3. The closest competitor(Hunan ‘L Rose) to this place also has pretty solid food and has been around for a long time, but I find them to be way overpriced. Both are tasty, and this place doesn’t try to rob you of your paycheck with $ 11 fried rice and $ 16 entrees. $ 7.95 — $ 10⁄11 is much more reasonable for a comparable product in my opinion. You will find all prices substantially cheaper here than the local competition. 4. I’d imagine they do fantastic delivery and pick-up business compared to dine-in. The restaurant itself is sorely overdue for a remodel, so if I were to dine-in and concerned about ambiance and vibe, I’d suggest maybe going elsewhere. 5. Recommendations: Pork Egg Foo Young… It is tough to find a place that does it well. The fried rice is good, fried dumplings are legit, and all of the chicken or beef dishes I’ve had have been good. Frankly, I haven’t been disappointed yet. Bottom line: My Chinese take out go-to spot… food is as good as anywhere around and WAY cheaper. Aside from being a candidate for a décor makeover on food network, the combination of tastiness and value make it a ideal take-out or delivery option.(Although I have not had them deliver to me, so I cannot rate that part)

Definitely a hole in wall and from by the curb appeal you may not want to eat here. But had the dinner buffet and worth the price. I can see this place as hot or miss pending when you come here. But I came on a hit day.

Maybe the worst Chinese food I have ever had. Food tasted like it was off the floor. Very over priced for what it is. Called to complain about my order and see if I could get something edible. But I was told«next time I order I may get a big discount» STAYAWAYORDERFROMSOMEWHEREELSE

This place offers prompt delivery of hot food, with portions that are comparable to other local restaurants. There is nothing special about the food, but I will say that their General Tsos sauce is better seasoned than some other local establishments. Wish I could say the same about their vegetable lo mein, which I find to be quite bland.

Really not bad for a hole in the wall. The interior isn’t beautiful but ordering pickup or delivery works nicely. They are quick and very polite. You can’t beat the price and convenience. We get the orange chicken or General Tso and chicken lomein.

For the price you can’t beat the buffet. Get the fresh stuff it’s really good. Clean tables and chairs. Dim lighting, open area for tables. Good service. Not fancy at all. Which I like.

The food was ready in around 5 – 10 minutes. The woman was very polite, and the price was about normal for the food. The food tasted alright, and the inside of the restaurant was kind of sorry looking. If you want a quick convenient take out option, this works great.

Crappy for late night delivery! Why was my rice so dry? And no sweet and sour sauce? Ew! I knew better but I was hungry!

Okay so two sides of the coin(or yuan) here; Delivery and Dine-In, but lets get to the food first. I have never had a bad meal here, dine-in or delivery. Always hot, fresh tasting and the portions are generous. They have a wide variety of items so you have choice. They do have a lunch buffet and it is good and they keep it stocked. Delivery food quality doesn’t suffer either. I like the classics like Beef with Broccoli, S/S Pork while my fiancée goes for stuff like Crab Rangoon and stuff like that. I have never been disappointed. So the difference here is weather you dine-in or have delivered. While I am no pinky out, wine sniffing kind of cat, this place is short on the«atmosphere». Its dark and the chairs are the same ones you find at your community center or church overflow rooms. it feels like a 1970’s bingo parlor or something. It’s not a «bring a date» or even a «bring your friends» kind of atmosphere. Its a «we are hungry for Chinese food and really don’t care how it looks or feels» kind of place. If you have food delivered, they get the job done, and fast. The almost always give me a time estimate of 30 to 45 minutes but have never taken longer than 20. Polite delivery people who do not pressure you for the tip(which they get for sure). I have never had an order screwed up(item missing, wrong item) and when we ask for extra whatever(sauce, chopsticks, whatever) we get it.

Hit or miss here. Some items are done well, some poorly. I usually get lo mein or chicken and vegetables. However I ordered beef snd vegetables today and it comes with only broccoli and carrots. When this is exactly their beef and broccoli set up. And im dining in. Go figure. So again, crap shoot.

I used to go to this restaurant on a weekly basis until I was there several years ago and found a roach in my food. Needless to say, I have not been back since.

I’ve been eating at Hunan Odenton since the 90’s, back when my Air Force buddies and I would go for the lunch buffet. Cheap, and good food. Fast forward to many years later, out of the Air Force and living in Piney Orchard. We order delivery from this place at LEAST once a month. My wife and I LOVE their food… I’m 43 years old and I’ve had lots and lots of Chinese food. This place is up there with the best I’ve had. I’m absolutely dumb founded by the negative reviews about the food. Sure, the place is a dump on the outside… but really, this is about the food, right? :) Don’t let the negative reviews scare you off. I’ve been eating here for 20+ years with NOBADEXPERIENCES. Delivery is ALWAYS prompt and the food is ALWAYS nice and warm still. I absolutely love this place. Hopefully my 5 stars will boost the overall rating just a little. You jerks handing out 1 stars to local businesses after ONEVISIT need to reevaluate your lives. Really.

I have just had what might possibly be the worst Chinese food I’ve had in my entire life. I have eaten oriental food all over the world, including Central and South America, where the food tasted unlike in the US, but nothing was as bad as Hunan Odenton. Beef and Snow Peas were veggies and beef in a brown, thanksgiving tasting beef gravy with no hint of any oriental seasoning. Gloppy, sort of sweet, no hint of soy — just a thick brown mess that wouldn’t even adhere to the beef or veggies. Tasted like old, bottled beef gravy. Hot and Sour Soup had tons of boiled onions in it, again no hint of oriental flavorings. No vinegar, no pepper, no sesame oil, nothing. It tasted like salty, bad French Onion soup with a bit of soy sauce. Wonton Soup tasted like hot water flavored with soy sauce. The ground pork in the wontons had no seasoning — just plain ground meat. Unpleasant texture on the tongue, almost slimy and tasted like old pork. Couldn’t eat the egg rolls. The skins were so tough, and the filling had nothing in it but bland cabbage. Worst was that everything actually tasted bad. We could have lived with the oddities as long as we could have eaten it, but we threw out about 80%. We couldn’t put any more in our mouths after a couple of bites. I would have felt better about this evening if I had thrown my $ 30 dollars into our trash can instead of giving it to Hunan Odenton. We flipped a coin for Pizza or Chinese. I won, but in actuality I lost.

Scary on the outside, yummy on the inside. My husband and I have eaten there numerous times and it is never busy. The food is made fresh when you order off the menu, but nothing was touched at the buffet for the hour we sat and ate our meal, so I would personally avoid it. Our favorite dish is the crispy beef, and we always get a Pu-Pu Platter appetizer that is delicious. The inside of the place is rather old and outdated, so don’t go here looking for a modern restaurant. If you can get past the scary outter façade and the no-frilld interior, this place is really delicious.

Yuck. I think frozen pre-made Chinese food from Safeway is probably better. Avoid!
