The service was a little slow on a Monday but the delicious smell of Thai food will keep you eagerly awaiting your meal. Décor is simple not much for atmosphere. Starter salad was delicious. Sesame seeds and wonton crisps on top and a wonderful Thai dressing. I ordered the medium spice chicken and shrimp pumpkin curry and my wife the cashew chicken stir fry.

Such good Thai food! I keep trying other places around town and I always come back cause this place is better! The spices are more flavorful and the price fits the portions.

Ruan Thai is the best, their curries are amazing and their fried rice can’t be beat! I seriously come here like once a week

So Im a big fan of thai food and of course I’ve tried aroy d for having 128 reviews and almost 5 stars, never bothered to go this place, but then I gave it a shot. All I can say is, I was pretty impressed with the food. After I ate the salad I was amazed with the taste, it may look like a regular salad but the dressing tastes good. The serving is way more than aroy d, it was actually 2−3x more I love the appetizer sampler which has tons of options and dip sauce! Too much veggies on spring rolls which was okay but way bigger than aroy d’s, i wish theres more meat in it though or shrimp, or maybe because it beats the size making meat unnoticeable. Price? Way cheaper than Aroy, but Aroy’s ambiance is better. I will stick for the good price though. 10% off if you pay cash. For the price I ate here could’ve been at least $ 12 more on other thai restaurant. Will go back here and update review if anything changes.

Ruan Thai is very good. We had no problem with service on a Saturday afternoon. Our waitress was friendly, attentive and she made excellent recommendations. We had the Golden Bags which are amazing, the green curry was spot on, I had veggie style with tofu medium heat, my husband had the yellow curry veggie style no tofu HOT! And it was! Served with white rice not a fan of white rice but it’s the norm. They have no brown rice. They brought a delicious deep fried banana wonton with honey. Overall a good experience.

First time here, we selected using Unilocal reviews, must have been a bad day. Service was spotty at best. We arrived later in the afternoon we were the only customers. Food was ok my beef in the beef broccoli was chewy & tough. We won’t stop here on our way thru, disappointed.

Great food. The owner came to our table to make sure the food was to our liking. We found out her son was our server. Seems like a family run business and everyone cares about their job and the customer.

Good Thai food, had the chicken red curry, great flavor, vegetables were fresh, portion moderate. Coconut soup was wonderful. Service ok… wasn’t very busy. Atmosphere ok, old place seemed clean I wouldn’t go back

Don’t be fooled by the standard Thai not too fancy restaurant décor, this place is delicious! The menu is pretty expansive and the food is fresh and flavorful. I’ve been here on a couple occasions and the staff has been very accommodating and does their best to make sure you have a great experience. The food is authentic as it has Thai owners. Each meal I’ve had here has been good. From the Phở to the Stir Fry. They also have these specialty soups that most Thai places don’t have. The mango sticky rice is sooo good! They’re also a great option as they’re open on Sunday’s!

I often find myself going here on lunch(evening lunch/dinner). Generally we order the Pad Thai or the Curry dishes which are all delicious. I would say portions and fresh taste are what keeps me coming back. Last week for the 1st time we tried their Phở and Spring Rolls. All I can say is really really good. Spring Rolls are almost a meal in themselves.

Ruan Thai is excellent. If you are a fan of Thai Cuisine and are in the Ogden area, I would recommend giving it a try. I looked up the menu online before I went and was impressed with the selection. I had a bit of trouble finding the place, so I ended up getting there quite a bit later than I intended. When I walked in, I realized that it was only 20 minutes until they closed. I felt bad making them work past closing time and almost left to come back another time. However, when I walked in, the hostess greeted me with a smile and seated me immediately. There were a few groups in the restaurant who were still eating and even one gentleman who hadn’t received his food. I knew exactly what I wanted, so I ordered right away. The restaurant had a nice atmosphere with many traditional Thai decorations lining the walls. The service at Ruan Thai was wonderful and the restaurant offers to take 10% off of your bill if you pay for your meal in cash. After ordering my food, it was a short wait before it arrived at my table. She first brought out a gigantic silver container of rice. I opened it up and that thing was loaded with tons of rice! That was quite a surprise as many Thai restaurants only give a tiny little bowl of rice even if there are multiple people eating. When my Chicken Massaman Curry arrived, it was steaming hot. The flavor was exceptional! I asked them to make it very spicy. Although it wasn’t quite as spicy as I would have liked, it did have a little bit of a kick to it, which is better than many Thai restaurants I have experienced. I felt like I was rushed a bit as their closing time was nearing quickly. The server could tell I was feeling rushed and she assured me that I should take my time and enjoy my meal. She told me they had plenty of work to do after the restaurant closed and that there was no hurry at all. She came back to the table at least 3 times to assure me that it was totally fine. Well, I still felt like maybe I was keeping them late, so I decided to get the remainder of my meal to go. As I was getting ready to leave, several of the employees sat down to eat dinner at the far side of the restaurant. As I walked towards the door, they yelled across the restaurant to thank me very much for coming in. Everyone who worked there seemed so friendly and nice and it made me happy that I had chosen to eat there that night. Ruan Thai Cuisine had very reasonable prices, large portions, and excellent flavor. I was impressed and would definitely eat here again.

Dear Ruan Thai Restaurant, I appreciate that you are very busy. I know how crazy that can be especially on a Saturday night and especially when your great Thai food is very well known. However, it might benefit you to hire two, or better, three more people. When we came into your restaurant, my husband and I just stood at the entrance waiting for someone to notice us. Servers, cooks, etc. came in and out of the kitchen, saw us but didn’t acknowledge us. We could see that you were very busy so we patiently waited over five to eight minutes before a server talked to us. No biggie except as we were eating, we watched several people walk in, wait to be seated, watched as their presence wasn’t acknowledged even after ten minutes, and walk out. Sadly, you are losing business. All you have to do is tell people at the door, «It will be a few minutes if you don’t mind waiting.» People are more than happy to wait if they know that you know that they are there. But if you don’t even glance at them… they’re going to leave. Your food is fantastic! We had the golden bags which is a closely related cousin to a spring roll but way prettier. The curry puffs were alright. I had the pumpkin curry chicken which was fantastic. Husband had the spicy curry with roasted duck. So, so, so yummy! The thai tea was extremely sweet and I had a hard time with it. But that’s o.k. Just personal preference. I wish our server had stopped at our table at least once to refill our water or ask us how everything was. At one point… o.k. at many points, I felt we could have walked out without paying and nobody would be the wiser because everyone was so busy rushing around taking care of far too many customers with far too little staff. So please Ruan Thai, get a few more people working during your busy hours. It would make such a difference! I believe we will be back, but with that simple change, I know we would be back! Sincerely, Someone who really wants to give you a five star review.

Best Thai food I’ve ever had, we try a new dish every time we go and have not been disappointed ever! Service is excellent even when they are slammed, if you pay cash they give you a 10% discount. Well worth the trip, we eat there at least 2 – 3 times a month.

My favorite Thai restaurant and the only place where spicy means spicy! I can’t order anything but the Spicy Thai Basil Fried Rice anymore, but the Duck Soup, and Red Curry Catfish are delightful as well! The service is always great, even when they’re slow to bring our order, they are still very friendly and the food is worth the wait! It makes for a great environment and the kids are always happy too!

I’ve probably passed by this place hundreds of times on my commute to work and I’m glad I decided to stop here for lunch. Lunch combos are reasonably priced(8.99) and the portions are great. I decided to play it safe and ordered the Thai Basil Chicken Stir Fry which comes with steamed rice, egg roll, soup, AND dessert. You just cant go wrong with stir fry, right? It was downright delicious without the frills. My brother chose the Chicken Phở(8.99) which had a sweeter flavor of the broth than other places but it was tasty nevertheless. It was a huge bowl(kind of like a salad bowl! Major thumbs up!) So if you’re looking for a Thai fix or you’d like to sit down and enjoy live Thai singers(Friday nights) and karaōke with your meal then Ruan Thai is definitely recommended! I’ll be back! Minor Improvements: — Chili Oil should be ready available — Thailand is known for its many fresh beverages so I think expanding the beverage menu would be great!

Just found this place and we will be coming back. We ordered the red curry and sweet and sour lunch combos. Service was fast and the owner was the one who waited on us. He was super friendly and helpful. Everything was delicious and a great price. Highly recommend this place for Thai food.

The food was hot and fresh. The flavoring was excellent with a beautiful presentation. We had the Panang Curry, Pad Thai, Ginger Chicken stir fry & fresh mangoes with coconut sticky rice. We will be back! I was worried that medium would be too hot so I went with mild. Next time I will go with medium I think it will be about perfect. The only reason why we did not give them a five was because they were rather busy and the service was a little bit delayed. We had to wait to have our water glasses filled a couple of times.

My wife and I agree that Ruan Thai is the second best Thai restaurant that we have ever eaten at in the United States of America!!! Never thought that we would discover such a gem in Ogden, Utah. Dropped by twice during our stay in Utah. Yummy Thai food is made here. Everything we ordered was fabulous! I had three favorite items here. The Pad Thai, Pad See Ew, and the Mango with Sticky Rice. Service was terrific, place was clean, generous portions, and reasonably priced! Wish we had a Thai restaurant in my hometown as good as Ruan Thai. Next time we are in the area, dining here again will be a priority!
