Great sushi! I had the sunrise and blackjack roll, both are great! The blackjack roll was smoky a hearty. Totally recommend eating here. Sad that the cold saki was in a mini bottle(15 – 13 $ for 6.5 shots of saki). It’s a small place but, no obnoxious music. Wait staff is great!

We found Tona on Unilocal. It came highly recommended. The atmosphere was excellent. On 25th Street in downtown Ogden. Older building that has great character. We made reservations. I recommend you do the same. Our reservations was for 5pm and the place was already busy. Our server Whitney was fantastic! Perfect pace and she was busy has well, but you wouldn’t know it. I have a gluten allergy and she knew what was GF and what wasn’t. She was very knowledgeable in the menu and she began to recommend items. We loved every item. We decided to leave the ordering to her. We also asked if the sushi chefs could make a roll that was spicy with octopus and squid. She gave no pause and came back with a wonderful roll, very satisfying and spicy. The prices are on the high side but I believe with the atmosphere, service, and food it is well worth it! My husband and I are critical when it comes to food especially sushi. Not being near the coast it is hard to find great sushi joints. Well we found ours!!!

I had an excellent meal here while visiting family in the area. We had potstickers, one of the more elaborate rolls with spicy tuna and the sweet potato roll. The potstickers and tuna roll were really terrific, and the sweet potato roll was more«meh,» but we finished with the cheesecake, which was perfect. Service was great, ambience was charming. If I. return to Ogden, I’ll happily return to Tona.

This is our favorite place to get sushi. It’s usually pretty crowded so if you don’t like crowds order it to go, it’s worth it. It can sometimes take a while to get sat at a table but once you’re at a table the service is fast. I have yet to try a roll that I don’t like but the escolar cilantro is my favorite. You should definitely save rom for the mochi ice cream.

I could eat here everyday. Ask about their«off the menu» items too. Some great rolls! Great for family outing or business lunch. Highly recommended local favorite!

This is by far the best restaurant in Ogden! AMAZING sushi in Ogden seems odd but it really is AMAZING! My only annoyances are they only take a limited number of reservations and most walk-ins become scared away by their unrealistic wait-time estimates. The sushi bar should be open seating too. The servers are very knowledgable on the menu and very friendly. The host/hostesses need some work but I realize that’s a high-turnover role. We take anyone who comes to visit to Tona and everyone is always impressed! They have a great variety of rolls and overall menu and you can’t beat the garlic edamame! I highly recommend!

We have always heard good things about Tona, so expectations were high. I would say that they did not disappoint. Certainly one of the best Sushi meals we have had. Service was great. Very attentive and accommodating. The wait time was about an hour, but for a Saturday night we were expecting it. Food was fantastic. Hamachi Carpaccio was like butter. Pineapple Tuna was awesome and every roll was very good. My girlfriend would not try the Unagi, but that benefitted me! We will absolutely be going back!

Went here for lunch based on the excellent Unilocal reviews and they were right! Excellent service, nice atmosphere and wonderful food. We tried tapas of calamari, coconut shrimp and asian ribs all of which were great! Then I tried yellow fin belly hamachi it was fresh and yummy. My husband had the ribeye teriyaki, cooked perfectly! Can’t wait to go again!

Took over 30 minutes for one roll. Two larger groups got their orders before mine. Quality was good. Just very slow service.

Nice relaxed atmosphere, you don’t get the feeling they are tryiing to rush you through. Sushi is made fresh and it’s good to watch that being made. Love their bento boxes. Service is always excellent.

Tona — As good as it gets! I’ve been to sushi places all over the country and Tona ranks up there with the very best of them. My favorite rolls are: The Jack, Blizzard, the grinch, sunshine. Garlic edemame is great as well as the green globe for appetizers. Service has always been outstanding and atmosphere is great. Tona also has great sashimi and nigiri — just overall a great restaurant.

I tried this place based on the Unilocal reviews and as usual, Unilocal did not fail me! I usually know if a Japanese restaurant is going to be good based on their Miso soup and to par, I was right on with this place. The miso was very good! I had the typical Bento Box with teriyaki chicken and California roll… outstanding! The salad and vegetables were really good and the California roll was good as well. The service was expedient and our server was friendly. She got all our orders correct and our drinks were never«half full.» So this place had great service and great food! Everyone in my group enjoyed the food and the service. So this is definitely a must try if you are in the area.

From hero to zero in ten seconds flat. Everything was going so well! The Peach Sushi special was so good, the Cherry Blossom delicious, the Coconut crunch to die for. We’ve been in a lot of Sushi restaurants from Japan, to Taiwan, Hawaii, California to Virginia, and everything was going so well. Then we noticed the Sunburn. Issues. The veins and sinew were left on. Since we’ve been around, we know this cut is from the back of the tuna and tends to be a bit stronger in taste. It’s also not the most pleasant appearance and should be trimmed of these items. We then started noticing other details that were amiss — stems on the tempura, not so much tofu in the miso soup, rice not quite right. Well, I guess what can one expect for a sushi joint so far away from known sushi centers. In those terms it was good, but it could have been great so easily…

This is the Takashi of Ogden — good and pricey sushi, with fancy appetizers and entrees. Service was AMAZING! I have only great things to say about my server, he was super friendly — again, a smile goes a long way! We ordered 4 rolls, two appetizers, 2 drinks, 1 beer and 1 side — all for around $ 100. All in all i think it was a good deal! I don’t know if I would make the drive from SLC to come here though… we had to wait about an hour for a table, and after making the drive we decided to just wait. The street outside is nice for a stroll, and check out the other places if you need to kill some time. If you have kids with you(we did!) you can walk a few blocks east to the amphitheater where there is a really nice playground. The hour went by fast, and the staff called after 30 minutes to apologize for the long wait, and to ask if we wanted to be seated at the bar. Since we had kids we declined and waited another 20 – 30 minutes, wasn’t too bad. We were lucky we had good weather though — if it would have been raining and I had to wait inside or in the car we wouldn’t have made it for sure! The waiting area inside the restaurant is tiny. I’d recommend it to whoever enjoys trying new sushi places! We really enjoyed the atmosphere.

I’m embarrassed to say, the wife and I went to Tona not for the food, but for the décor. See, one of our potential contractors told us that Tona had installeda green quartz bar similar to what we were considering for our kitchen remodel. We thought that we’d sneak in, grab an appetizer, and survey the counter. Well, the green sushi bar is awesome. It mixes with all the other colors and textures(including a spectacular brick wall) perfectly. Oh, and the food? Well, we just had the sushi sampler — five nice pieces of sushi, and they were outstanding. I didn’t quite get the names of all the fish, but each bite was delicious, and 3 out of the 5 were very unique, ranging from buttery to citrusy with no overly fishy taste. The servers and sushi chefs were very friendly, and the Green Globe looked fantastic. So go for the counter; stay for the food. We will most definitely go back.

My cousin recommended we do our next sushi night at Tona after she and her husband had tried it. I am so glad she did. This was some of the best sushi I have had in recent memory. Among 5 of us we ordered 2 appetizers and 7 rolls. I kept waiting for something to be not as good as the rest, but every single item was delicious. The Bacon Bubble Gum(appetizer) was divine and I couldn’t stop eating the garlic edamame. The Grinch roll was uniquely tasty with its basil and tomato while the Coconut Crunch roll managed to be both spicy and sweet. For a unique roll ask to see their secret menu, or just order the Hickory roll, which has hickory smoked bacon in it. Tona far surpassed my expectations, even having already read the Unilocal reviews prior to my visit, and is worth the drive to Ogden for this delicious treat!

Tona is an occasional extended luncheon spot for the base tenants, and great dinner spots for the locals. It is located on Ogden’s most colorful 25th street. The restaurant can be accessed from the front or back doors. The restaurant was not very big, but In our last visit, we had a variety of small dishes including King Crab, Brussels Sprout, Tom Yum Fish, Local Trout, Ahi Poki, Cannoli, and Oyster Shooter. Fish quality was not the best in the state, however, the creativities in their dishes were well thought of. Cannoli was an interesting conceptual that fusion Italian with Japanese, and it worked very well. For dessert, we had some Peanut Butter Cream. It did not taste like the look with a nice balance of peanut butter and creaminess. I would definitely return to Tona again whenever I am in the area. Service was excellent. They are truly many steps above those stereotype Chinese owned mediocre Japanese restaurants throughout the state.
