La Playa de Ogunquit

Food was very good. Service (bar & table) was very slow. It was Saturday night and they were busy. Atmosphere was good.

Labor Day weekend over flow place. We were greeted by a nice hostess that said it would be 10 minutes, place was basically empty. So was asked about the bar to wait, and she never came back to seat us. NO problem I’m thinking. Bartender extremely nice, and courteous, but so all over the place doing three different things and getting backed up easy. My food Luke warm (danger zone for food poisoning). Refused it. Many many body’s, but all looking confused. Cosmopolitan are $ 10.99 a piece. Should of trust my first instinct and drive by.

I’ve lived in Austin Texas for 3 years, and believe me, these are some of the best Fajitas I’ve ever had.
Steak and chorizo fajitas?! Meat lovers dream, and the drinks and staff kick ass!

I give them one star for the curb appeal of the place.
In my experience this place is a mess. The hostess was rude. After TWO HOURS of waiting, we never got our food. What I did see coming out of the kitchen looked like cafeteria food at best. We tried to give them the benefit of the doubt by waiting patiently and eating bland chips and salsa until we felt sick, but the service was unforgivable.
Not once did a server or manager stop by our table to let us know what was going on or whether or not we’d receive our order at all! They seemed to avoid eye contact when they walked by! Someone should have at the very least had the decency to give us some info and not waste our time!

As everyone else has already stated, when you walk in you get complimentary chips and salsa which is a nice touch. I ordered a blue margarita on the rocks from the bar which was very good with salt on the rim. Our dinner entrée’s portions were kinda on the light side. My wife ordered shrimp fajitas, and they gave me her tortillas on my plate, which was weird since I ordered the Steak Ranchero’s. I was really disappointed with my entrée since the steak had no ranchero sauce on them. My wife enjoyed her light Shrimp fajitas. Even though I was disappointed with my entrée, my wife and I decided to try the fried ice cream which was marginal. We were pleasantly surprised when we received our check that we were not charged for the ice cream.
One other note: my wife loved the soap in the women’s room, she said it made her skin soft, and had a pleasant aroma.

We tried to go here as they have free parking. However, my kids and I waited for over 5 minutes with only a minimal glance of a greeting and decided to go elsewhere. It was not crowded as there were only a handful of patrons there.

My wife and I went for some romantic chips and salsa, and after meeting two of the most interesting men in the world, ate two of the least interesting in the world entrees. The end!

Food service was very slow! I ordered some tacos ala carte and was brought a whole combo plate. They didn’t offer to fix it or my bill! Will not be back.

We stopped by here for a quick lunch, two adults and two children. When we walked in, we asked about a gluten free menu and was told almost everything is gluten free. We were the only ones in the whole restaurant (about 2p), so service was quick. Our waiter had no clue was a gluten allergy was, nor did he know anything about the menu (such as what was on the nachos). Aside from that, he was very nice and provided good service. The food was okay. If you like American cheese on everything then this is the place for you, American cheese on the nachos, in the quesadillas, shredded on tacos… When we asked for ketchup for my sons fries, we were brought ketchup packets on a plate. My hubs had a margarita and he said it was very watered down– and it cost us $ 9. I would say find another Mexican place that serves authentic food and skip this place.

I was a bit skeptical of this restaurant because of the mixed reviews. But I would say our experience was very good. We ate here tonight. Showed up about 8:30 pm and the place was pretty empty. We sat at the bar and were served chips and salsa right away. Both pretty decent. Nothing out of the ordinary I suppose but we ate them all and cleaned the bowl so I guess that says something.
We ordered and were served our drinks pretty quickly. A big Negra Modelo from the tap (nice) and a very frozen and tasty margarita. So far so good.
I ordered chicken fajitas which I thought were excellent. Tasty chicken (lots if its) with grilled onions and bell peppers. Served with rice, beans, guacamole, lettuce, tomatoes and sour cream. And choice of corn or flour tortillas. I loved it. I made 3 fajita tacos out of it and had some left to take home.
My buddy had enchiladas especial. Not sure what was in it but he cleaned his plate. Plates actually as the beans were on a separate plate. And he had done if my beans too (I’m not a huge bean fan. These were ok. But it would take a miracle for me to actually like beans.).
Not sure why they aren’t busier. Service and good were both good and prices I thought were fair if not even kind of a bargain. We will definitely go again.

If you’re looking for authentic Mexican food, look no further. The food is fresh and delicious. I wish I lived closer because I would make this a regular hangout.

Stopped by for lunch around 12:30 on a Friday and we were some of the only people there – as a result we waited less than 5 minutes for our food… Woo!
The place offers complimentary tortilla chips and salsa to start, and they’re certainly the best I’ve had. The salsa has an awesome kick!
I ordered an «a la carte» chicken burrito for a shocking $ 3.99. The burrito is the perfect size when you’re looking for a light lunch as it doesn’t come with sides (rice or beans). However, the pulled chicken is wonderfully seasoned with what seem to be bits of peppers, and the red sauce on top was great. Seemed like a good deal to me! Was also glad that I was able to put such a small charge on a card. They also had a bunch of lunch combos for only $ 7.25−50 that would be more filling.
My girlfriend ordered the lunch fajitas with steak and greatly enjoyed them (though I thought the steak was a bit tough). The rice is awesomely seasoned and a bit sticky, which we both enjoyed.
I wish I had better things to say about the guacamole, but it didn’t impress me. There was no tang!
Overall, the service was great and the food was good. Also, the place is pretty huge and they have great background music.

Went there for lunch. The service was quick because we were the only ones there. We got there when they first opened at 1130am. The food portions were large & delicious. The prices were reasonable too. We would go back again.

The best fresh margaritas in ogunquit, hands down for 11 bucks. Authentic mexican cuisine. A great variety of salsas

The only good thing I can say about this place is that we got our food fast. Would not recommend.

Normally when visiting Maine, you really don’t think Mexican, but with La Playa you will. The place was very fun, lots of cute lights and Mexican flair. The wait staff was very friendly and made sure our glasses were always full. My wife and I got the Verde pork dish, it was like a spicy pulled pork, lots of flavor. It came with re-​fried beans and Mexican rice. Dishes were reasonably priced but you may the drinks a little pricey.
Overall a very pleasant experience.

There are a few times in life when a meal is so expertly crafted And planned that it is nothing short of genius. Last night, I had one of those meals, I had the pineapple fajitas which actually comes in a half sliced pineapple. I had a choice of chicken or steak and decided to have the best of both worlds with chicken and steak mixed. Apart from the great tasting meal, I should mention the next best idea to make your experience more enjoyable And indulge your taste buds into there table salsa which was obviously made fresh daily. I even ordered more plus a hotter spicier house salsa they offered me to use with my fajita dinner. Now, after all this eating iv been talking about, your probably wondering what did I have to drink? I went with a house frozen Margarita to see what kind of tricks La Playa has up their sleeves, and was impressed with the tasty tropical flavor that was brought to me in A cool looking Cactus base Margarita glass! My girlfriend had one as well and at the end of dinner we were happy and full. I’ve been to many other places And travel quite frequently and must say this place has all 4 things you would look for to enjoy a Mexican meal: 1. great food
2.great staff And service
3.great drinks
4.nice atmosphere
If you love Mexican food this is your one stop spot :)

For what it is, Mexican in Maine, 5 stars. I went tonight with two friends who, like me, are very familiar with Mexican food. All three of us thought it was terrific. The chips and salsa made an excellent first impression, the entrees were all great, the service was good, and the prices were reasonable.
