I am sorry to say we were disappointed last night. After reading other reviews I thought this place would be very good, but it was not. My wife and I took another couple there expecting very good Italian food and service, but what we got in both food and service was mediocre. The ravioli was floating in oil, the lasagna was floating in what looked like tomato bisque soup, and Italian sausage was way overcooked. Three of the dishes were served with marinara sauce, but they came with 2oz of sauce at the most for the pasta. I asked the waitress to bring us a little more, and she brought a soup bowl full and charged us for a side of sauce. The waitress was not very social, and any request we made seemed as if we were imposing on her. I am not a food critique but I do occasionally watch TV shows like«Master Chef and Hell’s Kitchen» … Well let me tell — we would not have been served the dishes that came out of the kitchen. The food wasn’t terrible, just mediocre; the service wasn’t terrible, just mediocre. For the prices they charge we should have had lots better. The owner better get it together, or this resturaunt will close.

Decent Italian food, an awesome dining atmosphere(both inside and outside seating), good service and a nice place to take a date if you’re in Ojai. We walked in around 12pm and it was empty. Beautiful sunny day to sit outside and check out the golfers and cars passing by. Italian food was good, affordable and cooked fresh. The Italian Bacon Pizza was tasty(just thought it was weird they used a different cheese), flatbread. Enough to eat individually or share. Our Italian sausage plate was good. You get two rolled Italian sausage(which was a tad bit salty), some roasted potatoes and pasta on the side. Loved their butter pasta. Our waitress was cool, she gave us a quick rundown of the meal and lunch specials. Park in the front or the back, plenty of parking, credit card okay. Great place to take a date…

Really disappointing. Pizza came out with raw dough in the middle. Eggplant parmigiana weirdly seasoned. Ravioli tasted like it was made earlier and reheated. Gelato was way too sweet. Could barely taste the flavor over the sweetness. People were friendly but service was mediocre. Waited a long time for them to swing by. Finally they added their own 18 percent tip but failed to let me know they were doing it and did not return the check with the credit card receipt so I could easily have missed that the amount on the receipt and the cc receipt were different. Overall quite a bad experience.

Just had an exceptional dinner here. The lobster ravioli topped with shrimp in a saffron crème sauce was the best I’ve ever had. My friend got the cioppino appetizer as an entrée and it was packed with fresh seafood and shellfish in a mouthwatering sauce and definitely enough as an entrée or to split. This is my kind of Italian cooking, delicate balanced flavor, nothing overwhelming, just plain awesome. Thanks Ca’ Marco!

We opened up with their special ravioli in brown butter as an appetizer. They were really the best thing on their menu! Also their olive oil and balsamic for the bread was outstanding. Ordered a very good wine Buehler Cab 2013 very nice. From here on not as impressive, main dishes chicken w/capers and pasta w/mussels in white wine sauce were decent, not bad. But I would come again for the ravioli!

****It is important to note that older reviews were for a different restaurant with a completely different menu. I never went there, but I hear they also had Mexican food. This place does not.* live in town and have been to many, but not all, restaurants around. This is my favorite. I have been there 3 times total, all in the past 2 months including New Year’s Eve. Having spent months in Italy, and growing up near New York City, it is difficult for me to find what I would describe as good Italian food in California, let alone a small town, but I have not been disappointed each time we have been here. They often have a ravioli special with Sage brown butter sauce. I highly recommend it. Any pasta with white wine sauce is also very good. I also recommend the tiramisu. Since the location is not right in the center of town, although close by, you have lower prices with a much quieter ambience and more consistent food quality, in my opinion. I’m trying to think of something negative to say, at least some constructive criticism, but I really cannot think of anything, especially when comparing to the other popular Italian restaurant in town,(which is also OK, but has lost consistency in the past couple of years while raising prices.) This is probably the only five-star restaurant review I will give in Ojai.

The outdoor seating area was cute. The food was pretty great. We ordered the lasagna and the butternut squash soup, and gelato for dessert. The service was good. Overall a good choice for dinner. Their menu included a lot of appetizing options, we had a hard time choosing just one entrée. I saw a pup in their outdoor area and regretted not bringing mine with me. They appear to be dog friendly.

It was fine. Nothing special. Not the best spaghetti bolognese, not the worst. Nothing to complain about, just a bit on the boring side.

One of our new favorites! Food is PHENOMINAL! Had the ravioli as appetizer for my wife and I. It was so good my wife changed her order to the ravioli as her main entrée. I had the lemon & caper chicken and it was the bomb. Finished with Tiramisu. Homemade pasta… lightly salted undercrust… TODIEFOR! If you’re in the area, you owe it to yourself to stop in. My wife is not a fan of Italian, not a fan of marinara. She loved it. Appropriate amount of marinara centered on the plate, not smothering everything on the dish. Splended! Can’t say how impressed we were!

What a great little place! My wife found their listing on Trip Advisor and we thought we would try it out since we were up in the area for the day from Orange County. Though the listing said the restaurant was a combination of Mexican and Italian, the waitress told us this was no longer the case — it is purely an Italian place now. Two of us ordered custom pasta dishes because we were in the mood for pesto. I had the Fucilli al Carciofi and my daughter had a Spaghetti — both with pesto and they were out of this world. My wife had a seafood pasta and my son had a cheese, basil & tomato personal pizza. Very fresh ingredients. The food looked and tasted absolutely fantastic. In fact, we took pictures of the food, which is something we don’t normally do. We sat outside in a pleasant patio and the service was wonderful. If we had stayed another day, we would have gone back and it’ll be the first place we head to when we are in the area next time. We highly recommend it.

In Ojai on a couple’s getaway and was on the hunt for a nice sit-down. Place was fantastic — great ambience, a nice roaring fire in the fireplace, romantic lighting + flowers + music, etc. Food was the best Italian I’ve ever had, though dishes are kind of pricey. The fresh baked bread, served before you meal, was great. I had the Fusili dish($ 15) and added their light spicy tomato sauce, which was like vodka meets arrabiata. SO flavorful, pasta perfectly done. They were also super accommodating of vegetarians and offered many options — both on and off the menu. The boy had Fettucine Alfredo($ 15) and liked his dish, though his thought the chicken was meh and the sauce was a little light. Service was quick and efficient. Lost a star because we arrived at 530, half an hour after the place opens, and they were still setting up — hanging wreaths, putting flowers on tables, etc. Was really distracting to the romantic experience.

I recently had dinner here with a friend from out of town. We got there at 5:30pm and there was only two other tables occupied! People started trickling in later in the evening until it was mostly full. We started with the eggplant appetizer which my friend really enjoyed, I however didn’t care for it(texture). My friend was having a hard time deciding between a chicken dish and the putanesca. The server(Naomi) was so great and got the chef to add a little side of putanesca to his chicken dish so he could have both. He really enjoyed both dishes but commented that the putanesca should be a little spicy and it wasn’t at all. I had the daily special risotto. It was just good. We got the tiramisu for dessert and it was delish! The ambiance was amazing, very romantic. I loved how they dimmed the lights even more once the place started to fill up. I really wish the other people that were there knew what proper etiquette was when in a nice restaurant! I really didn’t need to know about the far table’s UTI! And the phones! UGH! People, turn off your phones! I would probably visit at least one more time to give the food a second chance. It could have just been what I ordered.

This restaurant was great in location & quiet on a Sunday night. It was extremely warm and stuffy in side as if there was no air conditioning or they chose not to turn it on? This made it so hard to be comfortable since I wanted to fan myself; and my husband also felt sweat beads pooling. The music was calming Josh Grobin type but it was turned so low that it created an awkward quietness inside and you could hear the conversation next to you. This made my husband and I feel like we had to keep quiet. We ordered the caesar salad and it was very bland & lightly seasoned; Meh. The bread was good, fresh and soft with oil & vinegar. I ordered the risotto sausage special with tomatoes, again just mediocre. The wait staff was friendly but I would keep looking around before settling here.

Came here for dinner, surprisingly I was the only customer there. Stayed at the patio because I brought a dog with me. Food was good. I ordered the penne pasta with spicy tomato sauce. Forgot the name. My waitress was so nice and friendly. She reccomended me a few places I need to visit during my trip to Ojai. Long story short, definitely coming back if I’m visiting Ojai again.

Food was nice. A bit disappointed with the check process. Not only charged me a wrong amount, but also took 15 minutes to give me the correct payment amount.

A lovely trip to Tuscany without having to leave the state! Bread with EVOO and a rich Balsamic vinegar sets you up for what follows. I indulged in the Cioppino. Delish! The lasagne was another favorite. Definitely going to return to try other dishes.

**OKITALIANFOODINOJAI** Arranged a birthday dinner for a friend here. It was originally La Valle, featuring both Mexican and Italian fare, but turned into Ca’Marco Ristorante, featuring now Italian food alone. Locally owned and operated. PARKING ======== Plenty of street parking in front. AMBIANCE ========= Quiet, relaxing. Clean. FOOD ===== LASAGNEBOLOGNESE — $ 11 It was their evening special. Since I cook a lot of Italian food at home, I would have to say that my lasagna taste better. :/The sauce was too thick and tomato-y. The noodle was overcooked. I prefer my pastas to be home made. There is a big difference. RATING: 3⁄5 PIZZA — $ 11 Requested mushrooms, cheese, arugula, with truffle oil. This tasted very good. Great combo of flavors. In fact, I should have ordered one for myself. RATING: 4⁄5 DESSERT ======= Free tiramisiu for the birthday girl! Unfortunately, I didn’t like the tiramisu. Wasn’t flavored well. RATING: 2.5÷5 SERVICE ======= Very friendly and accommodating. RATING: 5⁄5 OVERALL ======== Service was superb, however, food was OK. Very reasonably-priced, thank you. Appetizer, main dish, and 2 bottles of wine = $ 50 pp I liked Chef Marco Antonio Bello’s focus to Italian food, however not all the dishes were WOWsers(but this is from someone who has eaten in Italy many times and cook Italian cuisine at home frequently, so I am a different type of critic). RECOMMEND for decent Italian food in a nice atmosphere(white tablecloth) in Ojai.

My husband and I came here last night for dinner, hoping that maybe with the name change the restaurant would be different/better. It was about the same. Our server was great. I would give 4 out of 5 stars to her, and the atmosphere was lovely — we sat outside, the weather was perfect and the décor was romantic. Unfortunately the food just wasn’t that great. Now, their Ensalata Mista is much better than it was when I first visited. It was a generous size and included asparagus, feta cheese and tomatoes. A big improvement! Also my husband and I both enjoyed the grilled asparagus spears appetizer(they’re wrapped in prosciutto). My pasta dish(plain pasta with grilled shrimp, fresh basil and a little truffle oil) was about like last time. This time including 6 shrimp that were too dry, the pasta was still quite al dente. More than I would have liked. My husband got a dish with pasta and chicken, with some sort of pink sauce(I forgot to ask what it was) and he said his chicken also tasted dry, though his pasta did not seem undercooked. For dessert we shared the crème brûlée. The custard was very good, with a wonderful and bold flavor. The top of the brulee was really over-fired though. The«browned» part was so thick that when I tried to break some off it just lifted and folded like an omelet. In addition to being very thick, it tasted sort of burnt. Now, I tend to like overdone food, but I would prefer the brulee be made properly and caramelized and browned, without going past the line into tasting like the literally burned it. I can’t really see us returning. The service and atmosphere don’t make up for the lackluster food and there are a lot of fancy restaurants to choose from in Ojai with beautiful locations and good staff.
