The night we went we ordered a whole herb chicken, the organic vegetables, mashed potatoes and some pasta. I expected the normal, not so tasty, but good for you vegetables. We were very much surprised. The veggies were freshly stir fried, but not over-cooked and the taste was the best I can remember from a restaurant. Really flavorful with a smattering of kale, carrots, tender baby broccoli, hints of olive oil, garlic and cracked salt. I loved them and would go back just for the veggies. The pasta was cooked to perfection and the sauce had a fresh tomato taste. The mashed potatoes were like homemade with the skins. As for the chicken… it was alright. The lemon herb flavor was kind of mild and the white meat a bit dry. The atmosphere was very basic with an open kitchen and tables. It’s a bit pricey, but at least they start with good ingredients and if you get the same Chef you should be satisfied.

Was just in this place for the first time: Don’t order the house salad with your pasta dish. Their QC is lacking and I was served a green salad full of nasty decaying greens. The server/busser(it is an order at the counter and they bring you your food kind of place) told me after she asked how was the food and I showed her the salad«oh yeah, I saw that.» What? So she saw it was bad but she served it anyway? No refund offered, no anything said in response to the horrid food being brought to their attention. You gotta laugh at the quality of food you are served these days — that and boycott restaurants that take the customer for fools who throw away their $$ on rotten food.

Nice to have an alternative to the usual mexican food or salad/sandwich fare in Ojai. Staff is very friendly and helpful with my gluten allergy. Food is fresh and unique, although could stand to be a bit more bold for the prices they charge. Also, the décor from the street almost made me change my mind as it looked very stark. Recommendations are to amp up the flavors,(add some fresh green basil to the delicious spaghetti squash with creamy tomato sauce, some crushed garlic to the mashed potatoes, etc.). Change décor to reflect a more warm atmosphere. Then you’d really have a hit!

Decided to step out of my comfort zone, and try a new place for dinner last night. I really wanted to love this place, and there are some really good points, but overall it fell short for me. Let me start by saying the staff were very friendly and helpful. We had a variety of items at our table… Perhaps the mistake was in not ordering the rotisserie chicken for which the place is named. I did have the wings– which were rotisserie I assume, and not breaded or fried. Unfortunately they didn’t have much flavor, and the house made ranch that came with them, was really good but very watery. My dinning companions both had pasta– both chose the spaghetti noodle. For some reason I had thought they made their own pasta, but that didn’t seem to be the case. The cream sauce with chicken added was very tasty, but the amount of chicken was was rather small. The tomato sauce with meatballs was watery and had an odd taste(like canned). The sautéed veggies were FABULOUS! Flavorful, still crisp, really really well done… Sort of coming back to my initial observation that I should have gotten the chicken dinner… My dining companions also commented that the crafted fountain drinks were really good. So next time for us it’ll be the Chicken!

Fresh, healthy, quick and inexpensive. Open kitchen so you can see it’s made from scratch. Chairs are not so comfortable, but given the low price it’s understandable. Spaghetti squash pasta and chicken soup were both good.

I’ve been wanting to try this place for quite awhile. So we finally did tonight and I was not impressed. I ordered Tirena with chicken with the gluten free pasta. The pasta was undercooked and still crunchy. Chicken was barely present. There was maybe 3 pieces. The sauce it was in was good. My boyfriend ordered the Philly cheesesteak sandwich and had to drown it in bbq sauce and ranch because it was so dry. The sandwich is small and comes with no sides. I can’t say we’ll be back anytime soon.

This is hands down my new favorite restaurant in town! Everything was AMAZING. The Upper Valley Salad was really fresh and delicious, plenty for a main course. We also ordered the rotisserie chicken which is really really good. I was expecting the Vons style rotisserie but this was super juicy and great. The mashed potatoes were perfect and the Stephano Spaghetti Squash is a great combination of flavors.

Surprise: order the rotisserie chicken. It’s eponymous. It’s also delicious. Get it with the garlic sauce.

My friend and I stopped in for a quick bite the other night. I had eaten there once before– a salad, to go so I figured it was going to be a good experience. The restaurant was pretty empty. The staff was friendly and greeted us right away. My friend ordered the Spaghetti Squash special and I ordered the Angel hair pasta gamberetti. I asked them to add capers to my pasta. I am so glad I did! It was bland and would have been a little boring if the capers weren’t there. The pasta was cooked perfectly, the shrimp were boiled, may it would be better to grill them? Better texture. Anyway– my main complaints are that the staff serviced the«to go» orders first, as that seemed to take priority over the two tables with customers in them. We watched order after order go out while we waited. They then made my order to go… and then when they realized it was an order for inside the restaurant they dumped it on a plate. The cook was very busy while the rest of the staff milled around and chatted. Mostly in Spanish, which is fine but I guess they didn’t care that someone in the restaurant might actually understand what they were saying as their conversation was not appropriate for a restaurant and the language was occasionally very foul.

I ordered food ahead of time and picked up with no problems. I cannot decide if the lasagna is Mexican or Italian. I will go back and try different food before I make a definitive answer. The restaurant is new and maybe needs time to get organized. Everything looked clean and seems like a nice place. Went back and it’s kinda whatever. I will just continue to go to Papa Lennon’s because it’s always delicious.

I wanted a homemade pasta so we came to spin and ordered the cream sauce with tuscan kale and chicken pasta and it was by far the best pasta I’ve eaten in a long time. We also got Matteo’s lasagna and it was to die for. Forget moms homemade lasagna… This is the way to go! Definitely coming back

My husband and I had a wonderful first experience here last Sunday ! We split the thin sliced pork sandwich and the nicely spicy Ojai salad, plenty of delicious food for two hungry people. The service was good and fast. We look forward to eating our way through the whole menu, over time !

The BBQ chicken sandwich was delish! It had jalapeños, cilantro, cheese, and marinated BBQ shredded chicken on an awesome bun! I also shared a meat lasagna with my sis. The lasagna was interesting as it was not ground beef, but maybe steak? Or carne? Nevertheless, it was also really good! They have the best soda machine stocked with Stubborn brand sodas. The lemon acai and the black cherry sodas were so good! We got our food fast and the staff were all really friendly. The place was busy for lunch! It’s nice to have another food option in Ojai

Pasta was excellent. Chicken was tasty. Very good deal. Ambiance is limited, but the service was good. I had the fusilli with the Tirena sauce. Very good flavor. Family enjoyed the side dishes. Will come back.

Husband and I stopped here last night for dinner and overall had a pleasant visit. You order at the counter, but read over the menu first — it’s extensive. I ordered angel hair pasta with shrimp and chicken. My husband got a salad with 3 meats on it. We each got a craft soda(I was very happy to see they had a zero calorie option among the flavor choices) and I was too full to try their chocolate cake dessert(did see a slice and it looked pretty good). My pasta was cooked nicely and the shrimp were big and juicy — 6 for $ 5. Chicken was rotisserie but also sort of shredded so it mixed evenly with the pasta where I was expecting/hoping for bigger chunks. Probably would only get shrimp next time. The chicken seemed dry though in the pasta with sauce it wasn’t too noticeable. Husband liked his salad + 3 meats, which were all thin sliced/cooked but in good quantity. Downside was he asked for tomatoes on his salad and didn’t get any. Also wasn’t charged(just didn’t get on the ticket at all). Other downside, I’m not a small person but I’m not huge either, and my butt didn’t comfortably fit in their interior-dining area chairs. The chairs are metal and the metal tubes that make the arms also curve down to attach to the seat or form the legs or something. Anyway this part is where my thighs were squeezed into the chair. It was not comfortable at all. Usually I go out because I want to indulge — have someone else cook and clean up for me etc. This takes away some of the pleasure. This is the sort of place that also expects you to get your own utensils from a table and hopes you’ll bus your dishes. I don’t prefer venues like this, so add this to a $ 39 bill for 2 people for dinner and it will probably be a while before I return.

While the food tasted alright, my head was spinning over the fact of how a restaurant could serve plastic in their dishes. I ordered their popular meat lasagna, which I’m pretty sure came from a Stouffer’s box they bought at the local Vons. The portions were small, and for the price, you would think they might include a side of garlic bread. You’re better off just dining at the local fast food chains in the area. Best of luck to this business

The plan for our evening was to call ahead and pickup dinner from Spin. I called, a young man answered, and he immediately put me hold. I waited on hold for 4 ½ minutes and then hung up and decided to make the 5 minute drive there. It would have been nice to have the food ordered and waiting. Once there, only three people were in the restaurant, two were already sitting and eating. There was absolutely no reason to be left on hold for 4 ½ minutes. Waiting to place my order was painful because the staff was disorganized and they were out of chicken. They also didn’t know the menu very well. Once the food was received, 25 minutes later, I had to point out that some of my order was still missing and needed completion. This caused even a longer delay. Once home, we realized that the garlic cheese bread was now different and not good like they originally had. My family and I won’t be going back to Spin for quite some time. The food is good, except for the garlic cheese bread, but there are too many other items that cause serious inconvenience in the dining process.

Spin had delicious food for reasonable prices but the ambiance was lacking. My family and I had a hard time getting a table with enough chairs for the four of us. The food came out quickly but it didn’t come out at the same time. The cheesy garlic bread was magnificent(I definitely recommend it) but there are wrinkles that it needs to iron out. Until the dine-in wrinkles our ironed out, I suggest ordering take-out. The pasta was cooked perfectly. I definitely recommend take-out.

The potential is there. Staff is not experienced & has growing pains to endure but pleasant. Music didn’t seem too loud, but I couldn’t hear staff speaking & another customer had to tell me my to go was ready. Food prices are fair. I had the oak view BBQ chicken sandwich. Tasty but a little boring. Definitely try again once the newness has worn off.
