Always a safe bet from the standard menu but the real treats are seasonal & handwritten on the board. Not likely; but just in case the wait staff doesn’t inform you about specials, ASK! You be glad you did. Save room for desert. The strawberry shortcake & apple cobbler will make you ask for that 2nd bottle of wine to share with friends that you just might make while there. Explore all their treats, even the soups are delightful.

I bought a pepperoni pizza the other day. It was one of the worst pizzas I have had. There was no flavor to any of the ingredients. I will not buy another from them.

This is as good as «hometown» Italian café can get! Cute little local Italian café serving up yummy homemade recipes. Even comes with the red checked table cloths. We dined on a Sunday early evening. When we got there we were table #2. Within 20 minutes the place was PACKED! We shared the butternut squash ravioli and a green salad. Ravioli was a special of the day. Only negative was the price. A bit high at $ 14.99 for a very small portion. I do not recall the price for the house dinner salad. And of course we had the warm homemade apple cobbler ala’ mode!($ 7 plus $ 2 for ice cream). OMG. A must have. We will be back. Just wish they could reduce prices or increase portions to make up for it.

Amazing Italian food, and the ojai location is the best because you can sit outside and soak up the sun if you’d like. Their lemonade is the best and the strawberry shortcake, when in season, is TODIEFOR !! When I was pregnant I had to get one every weekend lol

Nice pizzeria. I advice to take only a small pizza to save some space for their strawberry shortcake

We had one night to spend near Ojai, and we drove the entire length of town before deciding to give Boccali’s a try. We had passed them on the way in, around 6PM, and there were only two cars parked outside this rinky looking shack of a pizza place with a handmade sign advertising its strawberry shortcake. By the time we returned, the parking lot was full and people were waiting for open seats on the porch. We ordered one medium pizza to go(canadian bacon, pineapple, and mushroom), and then we saw the shortcake. The pictures are accurate: a large bowl full of strawberries on shortcake with another 4 – 5 inches of whipped cream. We ordered two to go back to our room. The pizza: the crust is rustic, tasty, with good chew, and it stands up firmly to the toppings. Overall a nice job. The shortcake: amazing. It’s easily an inch and a half thick, with a sugared crust baked in. It wouldn’t surprise me if the shortcake is baked in a deep dish pizza pan. The cake crumbles like a biscuit, but it’s very sturdy without tasting too heavy. This allows the cake to absorb some of the macerated juices of the strawberries on its bottom without soaking all the way through. The real genius, though, is the sugared crust. On its own, the short cake is way too sweet. However, if you take a bite of shortcake with the strawberries and whipped cream, the acidity of the strawberries interacts with the sweet of the cake, and you get a mouthful of the best strawberry shortcake flavor in your life! This is good food for hungry people, so make sure you bring your appetite. You won’t be disappointed.

Hands down my favorite pizza. The sauce is very acidic which I love because it cuts the richness of the cheese. As much as I love Boccali’s pizza, their strawberry shortcake steals the show. As I drive home it’s all I can think about. There is a wonderful crisp layer on the top of the shortcake and the strawberries are JUUUICY. They are not kidding when they say that they have the best strawberry shortcake!

Boy, how I do love me some Boccalis pizza and strawberry shortcake. They really are not kidding when they say they serve the best strawberry shortcake. It’s addicting. You may be thinking, «how good could strawberry shortcake really be?» But let me just tell you, once you try it for the first time you’ll already be ordering your second one. The pizza is delicious too. The sauce is perfectly acidic and complements the heavy, gooey cheese. Yummy.

We went on a day trip to Ojai yesterday and stopped here for lunch. Food was amazing! I ordered cheese pizza and sphagetti for the kids and ordered pasta primavera and lasagna for us. Everything tasted so fresh and we literally licked everything off of the plates. We sat outside and ate and the view is relaxing and combined with this amazing food, the entire experience is something that will stay with you. Oh and how could i forget to mention the fresh lemonade. Must try if you are in the area.

Boccali’s in oak view is probably the absolute beat place in oak view to get pizza and pasta. They do have gluten free pasta upon request. They’re staff is alway so friendly and cheerful. Marty and Jessica really do a great job. They’re strawberry shortcake. Oh sweet baby Jesus! Heaven in your mouth! Best locally owned and family operated place in town!

Food was large portions. My wife and I shared a half order of spaghetti and a small pizza. With a strawberry shortcake for dessert. It was great! Our waitress was very pleasant. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

4 stars: Yay! I’m a fan. Even closer to me than the Ojai location, it puts me that much closer to my favorite strawberry shortcake and tomato salad. I’d never order their pizza, but I suppose it’s better than Toppers or any of the other local pizza spots in the area, so never say never. And the breaded eggplant is quite lovely as far as toppings go. The menu here is slightly different than the Ojai location, so it’s definitely worth a special trip to this location. We stopped here after the 2012 Tomato Festival to get a strawberry shortcake to go because they were selling tiny portions for $ 5 bucks at the Ojai location and we wanted to split a proper full-size portion. Yeah, we’re kind of gluttons.

Great lasagna. Great apple cobbler. Good ravioli and garlic bread. Cold cut combo is generous, but has little taste. I think it just needs some Italian dressing on top. Service was great. Cobbler, try the cobbler. Oh yeah, they make a great pizza as well.

If I had to plan my final meal on earth it would end with Boccali’s strawberry shortcake. Seriously. My friends and I have tried to recreate it to no avail(yet!) Everything I’ve tried there has been good, but the pizza and the bruschetta are favorites. The Oak View location doesn’t open until 4pm, so plan accordingly(and be sure you’re talking to the right location if you’re calling in your order!)

I think someone kidnapped my Mom and has her in back making the strawberry shortcake. I’m fine with that as it means I can get my shortcake on demand. Sorry Mom. Best meatballs too. I’d think they had my granny making those but I know where she is.

Had the strawberry shortcake and a lemonade on our way back to Ventura after a long day at the swimming hole. Hands down best strawberry shortcake I have ever had(have had it before at the Ojai location too. just as good). Lemonade was homemade tasting and hit the spot! Will go back for more of the same!

I used to come here a lot with my dad. The staff is always very friendly. Excellent pizza! We are both vegetarian and never have a problem finding something good on the menu. They offer a lot of different veggie pizza toppings and you can create your own pizza. If you aren’t stuffed when you finish, their strawberry shortcake is AMAZING too. The last couple times I have been down to visit my dad we have eaten here and I brought my puppy. They have a nice patio area and don’t have a problem with dogs.

This pizza place is very convenient for me so I like it. But, it’s definitely not as good as the OG Boccalli’s in Ojai. The only thing that is just as good, is the strawberry shortcake, really great. The pizza is ok, I like the Pizza from Boccalli’s Ojai better. Though, the one in Oak View works for me when I’m too busy to cook. They have limited pasta items and sandwiches as well, but I usually stick to the pizza. One time I ordered the butternut squash ravioli and wasn’t pleased. I do like their vegetarian marinara sauce however. Tonight, I tried the broccoli sauteed in butter and garlic, the broccoli was overcooked and almost mushy. Usually I am more disappointed by the quality when I take out vs. when I eat there. I think the crust is a bit less soggy when I eat in the restaurant. If you visit this place, save room for dessert and order the shortcake.
