This is not necessarily specific to this particular best buy, but I’m frustrated enough to just vent on any outlet. I am having an extremely frustrating serious of events with purchasing a Smart TV from Best Buy. I first purchased a Samsung TV and it immediately had all sorts of issues. I returned it and it was sent out to have its complete mother board repaired among other things. Once back, it was still slow, but functional until a couple months later when it began randomly turning itself off. I brought it back to the store again, and after a long discussion, and getting conflicting information between the geek squad in-store vs. call center, the the store took it back for credit rather than making me go through another repair send off(since they won’t do in house service for TVs of 32″). I do appreciate that adjustment to store policy the geek squad manager took. So then I bought another TV online since I had store credit and therefor couldn’t reasonably switch vendors. Before I ordered, I specifically called to be sure that it had the ability to run amazon prime and . Of course when it arrives, it can’t run . This is frustrating enough I don’t particularly want to go through another round of returns, research and calls that may or may not give me the right information or product. Now, a couple weeks later, his new TV also will not consistently recognize my wireless network. No other the device(laptop, iphone, ipad) is having any difficulty, but some days this TV will recognize the network, and some days it will not. It doesn’t make a difference if I move it next to the router… this is ridiculous. The response so far from Best Buy corporate has been«First and foremost, we want you to know we understand how critical customer service is to the success of every business. It reflects what we are as a company and what we can offer to our customers that others can’t. What you’ve experience with one of our stores and over the phone with one of our agents are not typical of Best Buy’s customer service.. That being said, we assure you that this is just a one-off incident that will not happen again in the future. We sincerely appreciate your feedback and thank you for your endearing patience and continued patronage.» Whether or not this is «not typical of Best Buy’s customer service», the experience I am having is beyond frustrating. Needless to say, this experience has soured me towards Best Buy for future large electronics purchases.

Absolutely horrible shopping experience. Best Buy leaves its experience in the hands of kids who turn the place into a sweet shop type feel. The employees come and go faster than the customers and anything outside of the regular purchase turns into a nightmare. I prefer to buy from people I know and trust and they can’t keep employees long enough to know or trust them.

Today I went to the best buy in okemos, Michigan looking to buy an IPad Air 16gb. I found a lower price on the iPad at sams club and was looking to get it price matched. Being an avid customer of best buy I’d rather bring my business there. I had pre checked your price match policy and saw that they would match the local sams club price of $ 295. Once I arrived to the store the experience went down hill. A store employee referred me to the store manager who was very rude upon greeting me. I inquired about the price matching referring to the your price match policy I had pulled up on my phone and also having the same club ad up. The store manager was very rude and argumentative while I was calmly trying ask why he wouldn’t match what was stated in your online policy as a ok price match. Honestly I’ve never been treated so rude by a person and would hesitate shopping at best buy after that treatment. The store managers name was Jason. Ultimately I pass this story on to you in hopes that another customer does not have to go through the rude experience of dealing with a manager who deals with their customer in a demeaning manner.

If you need your computer repaired, I suggest NOTEVER coming here. Four years ago I bought a computer from this store and it has been a tank, it just kept going and until now, I never needed their GeekSquad services. Unfortunately, the poor thing contracted a virus and I needed to bring it in. I decided to purchase a new computer while I was there because my old computer’s memory was about full. I spent $ 1000 on the new laptop and software(which BTW, is a piece of garbage Toshiba that they told me was the best thing ever). So they told me I would be contacted when my computer was done, it would take 3 – 5 days. On the evening of the fifth day, I got an email saying my computer was done and it could be picked up. So I went to pick it up and they couldn’t find. It wasn’t until I peeked my head in the back and was able to pick it out that it was found. One thing they never tell you is that often your computer leaves the store and is shipped to some central location where it is worked on. Turns out, some super intelligent worker closed the ticket on it and nothing had ever been done. Which sort of sounded shady in the first place. I mean, it sat there for five days? Nothing done? The story goes on and on, with them always telling me it would be ready the next day and it wasn’t ready for another five days. No one ever apologized to me or offered me a giftcard or anything. Worst customer service ever! To take the cake, I got my computer back and it’s still shutting off randomly which is why I brought it in initially. So basically they had my computer for two weeks and did absolutely nothing except install anti-virus software. Now I have to take it somewhere else that actually has competent employees.

Meh, I’d rather not purchase anything from Best Buy because of its outrageous prices and outdated electronics BUT– it’s a great place to go and browse/dream.

This Best Buy is located right along Grand River so it’s around a lot of other businesses and is a short drive from MSU’s campus. It has a good size parking lot and I didn’t have a problem finding a spot here. I liked the layout of this BB and the staff was typical of all Best Buys and was helpful. I always could find what I needed here and I was able to get checked out in a good time. The parking lot does need to be repaved but so do most roads in Michigan so I’ll give them a break on that. It can be hard to get in and out of the parking lot since it’s right along Grand River and it can be insanely busy.
