Small rehearsal dinner with about 25. Service was perfect, and not sure how they turned out a moist chicken paired with a perfect medium rare filet for 25 all at the same time, but they did. Great food, perfect service and nice bar selection. All that with a price point under $ 100 a head — it’s an unbeatable venue and value. Look forward to going back for one of their cooking classes.

Had a fantastic cooking class at The Tasting Room on a Thursday night. The class is run by Chef Kurt Fleischfresser of The Coach House fame. I attended a class entitled«Chilling and Grilling,» which, as you probably guessed, included grilled dishes that were hot and cold. We arrived at 6 pm and had our choice of 2 long tables that seated about a dozen. There were also 6 or 8 seats right at the cooking station, but those were already taken. I imagine they are sought after, I will definitely try to get one of them in the future. Our class was supposed to be partially outside and partially inside, but the unseasonably cold weather coupled with the rain prevented us from going outside. But, we had a TON of great dishes, including: chopped pork and grilled pineapple sandwiches, salmon and cantaloupe salad, grilled shrimp, lemon pound cake, beer braised bratwurst, okra stuffed with jalapeño and wrapped in bacon, and grilled peach salsa. I know I am forgetting some dishes, but you get so much, you absolutely get your money’s worth. There were 6 wines that were paired with the dishes, and they were all fantastic. You get a list of the wines, so you can take them to your local wine shop if you want to buy some of the bottles later. Chef Fleischfresser walks you through the entire preparation of every dish. They are created the morning of the event, so you don’t get a recipe card, but you can take notes. Also, he is answering questions throughout the entire class, so if there is something you miss, feel free(feel encouraged, really) to ask. He buys the ingredients at a grocery store. The ingredients for our class came from Homeland. I like this because they are all products we could go buy ourselves, they weren’t products only available to professional chefs or restaurants. The atmosphere was relaxed and fun. We talked quite a bit with our tablemates, as well as people at the other table. The cost was $ 78 with the wine pairing, which may seem like a lot, but it was 3 hours of fun and fantastic food. I think it was about $ 15 less without the wine. I’d absolutely recommend attending classes held at The Tasting Room, I most certainly will be back.

Based off attending monthly luncheons here for a few months now, I have been impressed with mostly everything I’ve been served here. I haven’t made it to any of the cooking classes yet, but I really would like to and I’m sure that would put me at 5 stars for The Tasting Room. Regardless, the specialty meals the chef prepares for meetings here are top notch. I love that they always use different veggies for side dishes that you don’t usually get like beets and fresh spinach sauteed. I’ve liked all of the deserts I’ve had here as well and they will most definitely satisfy any sweet tooth! This is a really nice space that I’d definitely recommend for private parties.

I’ve been to special events here several times. They host some of the best wine dinners in Oklahoma City, and more casual events as well. The space can be rented out for your own private party, with catering from any of the Western Concepts(Lobby Bar, Musashi’s, Sushi Neko, Coach House, etc). They have a large private room as well as a beautiful outdoor patio. They also have a beautiful working kitchen, which is home to cooking classes by local chefs, and has also been used for local cooking shows. I think a few local chefs have also filmed pilot TV shows for cooking shows here, since it’s set up for that as well. The folks who work for Western Concepts are among the best in the OKC food scene. They are always trying inventive menus and will work with you to create the event of your dreams, within your budget. They recently catered an event that I hosted at Savory Spice Shop, just around the corner, and I loved the creativity that went into making the menu. Bonus of having events here: your guests have access to a huge parking lot, nice restrooms and a beautiful new entry hall. With Lobby Bar nearby, they can enjoy a drink in the bar before of after.
