I absolutely love coming to Tonic. Mary Timme has been cutting and coloring my hair for 4+ years now and is just fabulous at what she does. I have gone through quite a few different hair styles in the 4 years I have seen her ranging from very short hairstyles to long hair with layers and color and she has always delivered perfection. I’ve never known a stylist who is so multi-talented in barbering, coloring and styling hair like Mary. If you’re looking for someone to deliver a good blonde job, she is your girl. Her color knowledge is pretty incredible and I struggle to trust anyone else with color after being so accustomed to her education. I am no longer living in Oklahoma but my trips home are not complete without an appointment with Mary. I would recommend her to anyone, not to mention, she is absolutely hilarious and so fun to chat with which makes every visit a good time. I almost forgot to mention my dad visits her as well and she always keeps him looking very clean cut. The salon itself is very cute and all of the stylists are so fun and friendly to be around, you’ll always leave in a great mood. If you’re looking for a new hair spot, Tonic is your best choice!

Tonic salon is amazing! Jennifer Riney is all that you can ask for when it comes to looking for a stylist. She really takes the time to understand what you want and is always willing to make suggestions if you’re unsure. I have loved my hair everytime she’s done it over the last 4 – 5 years. Jennifer is very attentive. She always makes sure I have something to drink and that I’m taken care of from the moment I walk in and she answers any questions I throw at her. Whether that be about a product, hair color, or styling tips. I don’t devote a lot of time to my hair or experiment with it often, so styling is somewhat foreign. I recently had her cut and color my hair and she suggested that I curly my hair with large waves to really show off the color. I asked her the best way to do that and she curled it for me and walked me through the entire process step by step. If you’re looking for a great stylist, Jennifer’s your girl!

Every 6 weeks I make the trek from Dallas to OKC because I won’t let anyone other than Jennifer Riney touch my hair! She keeps my hair looking and feeling healthy whether I embrace my natural brunette, go platinum blonde, or color my hair bright, fun colors.

I have gone to Jennifer Riney to get my hair cut, colored, and styled for a decade. I can honestly say, I have never been to anyone as talented as her. Jennifer has taken me from blonde to dark and back with every color in between. Even with such drastic changes, Jennifer always maintains the health and integrity of my hair. The salon itself is nicely decorated and well-lit so it’s easy to check out your new style. Everyone who works there is welcoming and friendly, creating a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere. In short, if you haven’t visited Jennifer Riney at Tonic, now is the time to book!

I had a wonderful experience with Mary Timme! She did a beautiful job on my hair color and gave me a very well blended and natural blond color! I could tell that she really knows her stuff and would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a great stylist to do color in OKC!

Started this back in April 2013 and been meaning to post-it so here it is! While moving from California to Little Rock, AR I decided to stop and get a badly needed haircut in Oklahoma City. I chose Tonic because of past Unilocal reviews. LOVE my new haircut by Mary Timme. The past reviews were spot on about her and this salon. She also helped me find new product for my hair. Thanks Mary! Overall, this place is a great bargain — highly professional, skilled stylists at a reasonable price.

I’ve been going here for YEARS. I currently live in New York City and am putting off my haircut until I come home for the Holidays because I’ve never had a better haircut anywhere else. I very much recommend this establishment. Lovely atmosphere, great people, professional results. Stop trying to decide your next salon and call tonic!!!

I’m going to keep this 5 star train chuggin’. I’d like to say that I am a lady in training. I’ve never been the type to get my hair and nails done until recently. It makes me nervous that all these pretty ladies might know that I’m an outsider! Haha. So this is coming from an outside perspective to any ladies who are like me and a little timid about getting prettied up. I made an appointment with Mary(I’m not sure if it’s spelled the usual way) for today, Friday, 6:30pm. They close at 7, so I was worried about being rushed out, but that’s the furthest from the case. I immeditely felt welcomed when I walked in. Christi and Mary were the two still there and Christi was doing someone’s hair but took the time to greet me. I showed Mary a reference picture on my iPad for the sort of hair style I was looking for, and without hesitation, she nodded and looked it over, making sure to keep it in view when she started my hair. We didn’t start right off. She found we had something in common by having iPads(mine is mostly for school, but it has its uses) and she began to talk about an app she really liked and showed me some things on it. She didn’t HAVE to take the time to do that, especially so close to close! So she made that personal connection with her client, and I felt comfortable the rest of the night. We talked nearly the whole time she was washing and then cutting and styling my hair, and she never got distracted from what she was doing. At the end of the day, I LOVE my hair. It was just a waist length long mess before, and Mary made it something super cute! Like I said before, I’m awful at being a girl but she was incredibly helpful with informing of products that would help me style my hair. I bought a styling paste from her for $ 24, and the case is hand size, but the substance is dense and has plenty for maaaany uses. Worth it, imo! When we were on the phone there was a miscommunication about what I wanted for my appointment, and I wasn’t put down for a color. That didn’t really bother me, though. I don’t need dye to live. She was very apologetic about it and we rescheduled that for this next Friday when I am also going to buy this powdery stuff that adds volume or some such. I really liked it.

I’ve been seeing Christi since Tonic the Salon was just a twinkle in her eye. There is absolutely nobody better at keeping a naturally dishwater blonde as light as she wants to be. I moved to Dallas from OKC a year and half ago. I figured Dallas, the land of the blondes, would have a salon as good as Tonic but I sure haven’t found it. After a few tries at lackluster salons here, I recommitted to making the 3.5 hour drive to Tonic every 8 weeks. The Salon is absolutely precious, located in a great part of the city, and filled with really lovely ladies. It’s a little pricy, and tough to get in, but there’s a reason for both of those small inconveniences. I regret having tried anywhere else!

It’s hard to imagine that there’s anything near the busy bustle that is 63rd and Western that feels like a tucked away little escape, but somehow Tonic manages to be right at the center of the Chesapeake corridor’s busy shopping and dining district and yet feel completely secluded. I checked out this little gem for the first time last week for a cut and color. Full disclosure, the woman who did my hair is a friend of mine, but I had never been to the salon and wasn’t sure what to expect. Even on a cold day, the salon felt warm and inviting– maybe cozy is the word. Since I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do with my hair, I just talked to the stylist about what I like about my hair and what I wish could be different. She listened, asked me a few questions, and got started on a cut and color. While I was there, an elderly lady came in to have her hair set by one of the other women. She was in her 90s and I learned later she had been seeing her same stylist for ten years; the stylist goes to her house if she’s not feeling up to coming into the salon. A few hip, young, lovelies came in while I was there, a guy got a haircut, and a forty-something woman came in for a cut and style, and talked to her stylist about advice for her teenage daughter. I like that it seemed like a place where anyone can go, feel comfortable, be social, and be treated well. As for me, I love my new hair cut and the color. It’s nice to know there is a place to get a really current style, without feeling like I’m getting my hair cut in the middle of a hipster dance bar that just happens to be a salon.
