Only two stars for this location because they closed… visit one of there other locations as they have the best pastor meats around… so sad.

I’m thrilled we don’t have to drive all the way to KCK when we’re craving El Camino Real’s tacos al pastor. Taqueria #3 is very similar to the original location, with different décor and a little nicer neighborhood. They also bring a couple extra salsa varieties with your chips. Best Mexican food we’ve tried. Remember … tacos al pastor.

I love their shrimp ceviche(when they have it; you have to ask each time because it’s not on the menu). It’s never busy, the staff is always very courteous, and the margaritas are excellent. Wouldn’t recommend the fried ice cream, though; it’s not made the way most people are generally used to… it’s not bad, but a little nontraditional.

Stale chips, unappetizing salsa, not the worst, but slower than normal service as well as pretty unsatisfactory food. Went for lunch on a friday on got the el camino burrito special. Smaller than what you would expect to boot. I will not be returning.

This place is now closed and I am glad for it. It was never that good to me. An imitation of Mi Ranchito(sorry. ranch fans). Now it has turned into a much better El Camino Real #3.

The Al Pastor is the meat to get! Both my wife and I had the Burritos El Camino Real. She’s on a mission to try Al Pastor in as many places as possible. It was well worth the drive.

This evening I went back to La Hacienda(Camino Real #3) to try the enmoladas, which are supposed to be enchiladas made with mole instead of red or green sauce. I’m afraid I didn’t much care for them — the sauce looked and tasted more like red enchilada sauce than mole. I’m not sure why that’s the case, although I realize that many Mexican restaurants in this part of the world are run by people from the north of Mexico, where the style of cooking is quite different from what I grew up eating when I was a kid in Mexico City. My idea of mole is deep chocolate brown sauce, redolent with many chiles, spices and unsweetened chocolate, in the Puebla tradition. But there are many other moles in Mexico. I just know this one didn’t do the trick for me. The rice and beans were good and well-flavored. The chips were thin and crispy, and this time came with two sauces, one mild(in the white squeeze bottle) and one picante(in the red squeeze bottle). The horchata was good and there were free refills. The menu is filled with interesting and«auténtico» sounding options, so I’ll undoubtedly be back. But for now I prefer the chiles rellenos to the enmoladas!

I think the reviewer below is referring to the fact that management of La Hacienda has been taken over by El Camino Real, who have some of the best-regarded taquerias in the metro. They have retained the La Hacienda name, adding«El Camino Real #3» to the sign. This place is much larger, has a full bar and an extensive menu. I had three different tacos which were very good, but not nearly as revelatory as at the KCK locations. The meat was flavorful but a tad too dry and crunchy. They crisp it up on the grill and likely had it on there too long. Alas, the al pastor were simply not up to the usual Camino Real standard. But the cabeza, which is a fattier cut of meat, held up better to the high heat. Rice and beans were both great, especially the latter, which were creamy but not completely mashed. Service was extremely spotty, but it was actually the waitress’ first day, so I’d be a jerk to complain too strenuously about that. However, the manager and the other servers could have paid more attention and helped her out. All in all, I fully expect the food and the service to improve as the new management gets adjusted. El Camino Real is a quality establishment with a great reputation. This is a solid Mexican option near downtown Olathe.

The ownership has changed and the food and experience is not as good. I am disappointed because it use to be friendly fun service. Now someone keeps walk around saying the new owners is bringing to Olathe the great food from the other locations. I have never heard of them and what I tasted was not something I would brag about.

Came to eat here for lunch for the first time. I attended their grand opening with the Olathe Chamber and enjoyed their breakfast Chorizo con Huevo. In short, I was not a fan of their salsa and chips. The chips tasted a little burnt and their salsa was basically like watered down tomato paste. The meal that I had was decent, nothing spectacular. I had a combination plate of an enchilada, ground beef taco and something else. It obviously was not memorable. I think once every 6 months is probably good for me at this place. Mi Ranchito is right up the street and I would go there first if I had a choice. If I am not mistaken, they have live music on Friday nights and that is a plus. I don’t think there is a long wait on the weekends and that is another plus. Mi Ranchito is at least an hour wait.
