Planet Sub

My husband heard great things about this place so we thought we would try it out! We went near closing time on Memorial Day and there was no one else there (surprise, surprise) I didn’t catch the name of the sub artist but he was very helpful and very nice! We asked him for some recommendations and he was able to give us some great suggestions. He even gave us a BOGO deal since it was our first time! I thought that was very thoughtful!
I had the cheese-​steak and it was soooo good! My husband preferred mine over his! He ordered the Tijuana Taxi and he liked his as well. The restaurant itself looks like something out of my grandma’s house but I guess that’s the vibe they’re going for! We literally live down the street from this place so we’ll definitely be back!
You’re also able to order online and pickup at the store! That’s an awesome feature that I’ll definitely be using!

Planet sub has several locations and even though they are a small franchise company they’re home base is in Kansas City so I see them as a great local business to support.
They make bread from scratch and my favorite sub is the Tijuana taxi — all about those jalapenos. The service is always very friendly with a laid back vibe.
Simple and relaxing atmosphere for dining in with coloring activities for kids. Call in are fast and easy and they deliver. I once ordered 30 box lunches for a work event without any issues.

I had never stepped foot into a Planet Sub until a few months ago. Can’t believe I was missing out on such a tasty sub for so long!
Roast beef is always my meat of choice on a sub and Planet Sub has tons of Roast Beef options. I was very pleasantly surprised by all the roast beef options. The last sub I tried was the Dagwood’s Dream and it was scrumptious.

I’m a Planet Sub fan, and have tried several different locations. This location has the friendly service, delicious subs, and retro music themed atmosphere of the others. However, my sandwich seemed slightly smaller than the sandwiches served by the other locations I have tried.

planet sub is the successor of the original franchise known as yello sub. The first location for yello sub was in Lawrence, Kansas.
Planet sub has an old school menu in which planet sub pays homage to the original menu. Standout sandwiched include the original Yello Sub, the Beefeater, and my personal favorite, the Tijuana Taxi.
The quality of the food is fantastic. I’m pretty sure they bake the bread fresh every day. Highly recommended. This place makes me very nostalgic for the original yellow sub.

Tasty food with consistently fast & friendly service. Everything is fresh, and I love the bread made on-​site. They have quirky sandwiches like the tempeh parmesan (a personal favorite) for ~$ 6 for a 6-​inch. I like that they cater to vegetarians also with many veg-​friendly options including a new hummus sandwiches and multiple veggie grinders. Definitely get two-​thumbs up for lunch! The take out is fast and you can call ahead, but they also offer ample seating in a homey setting with mismatched wooden tables and self-​serve soda.

Always a good experience at Planet Sub. Staff is always friendly and helpful. Catering is simple reasonable. For my money it’s in a different league from Subway — «$ 5 footlong— oh wait, not THAT footlong» gimme a break!

Even though I’ve lived near this Planet Sub for almost 5 years — I’ve only managed to visit it twice. I’m not exactly sure why I overlook this restaurant, as the sandwiches are solid, though maybe not the best you’ll find in the metro.
Positives:
–Wide selection of menu choices
–Good sandwiches
–Quick service and decent prices
Negatives:
–The menu choices differentiate this from other sub places, but places like Penn Station still have it beat.
A good place to get a quick bite to eat, it certainly never disappoints, but it never seems to wow me that much either. Luckily there are many other types of subs to try…

This used to be a good place to eat, and maybe other locations are, but the staff at this location seem to care more about listening to loud music not appropriate for families than «cooking» food. Something is wrong with my order almost every time, and since I usually do take-​out don’t realize it until I get home. Food is good if they get your oder right, and price is fairly reasonable especially if you have a coupon, but the customer service is better during the day than at night when no one seems to be in charge.

I go to Planet Sub more than I should based on quality. The reason? The offer a LOT of coupons, like 2-​for-​1. Well, there is a reason they offer so many coupons… I know for sure that I wouldn’t go if it weren’t for them. Alas, my cheapness is so strong that I will occasionally eat some sub-​par food to save some dollars. Dollars which can go towards tasty beer, or other delights.
Anyways, I live pretty close to this place, and have for 3 years. However, I’ve only been there 3 or 4 times, even with coupons, so I think that’s telling. It takes FOREVER to get a sandwich — well beyond what a simple heating can excuse for. The people look miserable working there, and that comes off in customer interactions. The prices are a bit too high for the quantity you get. Finally, the food. If the food were awesome, it would make up for the other stuff. The taste of all sandwiches is rather bland and generic, the meats taste fatty and of low quality, the quantity of meat (as I mentioned) is low. The bread is the best part… but bread alone cannot make a sandwich.

I always get the same thing cause it’s so delicious and never fails! The pesto bello and a potato soup. Love their food!

I thought it was a bit expensive and had a weird odor. My Turkey sandwich was very average.

Best sandwiches in town, my family loves this place. I suggest the Super Hero or the Chicken Parm… outstanding! Reminds me of the Sub Shop in Columbia.

They are even better now. They now have the computrized coke machine that has over 100 different flavors. I must try them all.

Ahhh… Yello Sub, errr… I mean Planet Sub, always takes me back to those good ol’ college days. On Friday nights, we would head over to the plasma donation center for a free movie and then take our hard won earnings to Yello Sub. My Friday nights are a little different now but Planet Sub is every bit as good. The five star rating is because these are reliably the best subs I have ever had in my life.
Note that there are 11 vegetarian subs, although they all depend on cheese for their deliciousness. Vegans can ask them to make a sub vegan and they will at least know what you are talking about.
