Came here on the way to a friend’s house to try some Kansas BBQ. I am from Texas so I was excited to try something different. Came in and was immediately greeted by someone behind the counter. Very nice guy and easily helped us with the menu to order what we wanted for a group. Food was packed well and it wasn’t very expensive. At the house we found that the portions were small and very dry. Not a fan but I think it was the restaurant not the quality of Kansas BBQ. :)

Ate here for the first time on a business lunch, ended up coming back a week later. I’m always skeptical of BBQ joints outside of the well know places in the market, but I was pleasantly surprised with this place. Great little gimmick with the bbq bowls. I ate the turkey sandwich on both visits and enjoyed it. On the 2nd trip, the fries were lukewarm and chewy, for they had been sitting in the heated bowl. If you are going to make«fresh-cut» fries, then they should be right out of the fryer. The staff was friendly and the prices reasonable, so I’m sure I will come back to try one of their bowls, but probably won’t order the fries…

This restaurant ruins kc’s reputation as the bbq capital. It is not good. If you want good bbq go to gates bbq. Now i went to the rub yesterday. I had the pulled pork sandwich and it was one of the worst i have ever eaten. The restaurant is not close to much else but there is a trash can outside of it. If you go to the area i recommend the trash can. 1 star

Just had lunch there and had pulled pork sandwich… Was dry and had hard pieces you couldn’t even chew! Even with lots of bbq sauce it still tasted bad! Was very disappointed! Would not go again.

Some of the best smoked meats I’ve had in a long time, It’s different than other KCBBQ joints, but that’s the point. Great sides, generous portions, and great service. And easy on the budget.

Pulling off quality bbq in KC or the surrounding area can be a tall order. The food here is fine– just fine. Nothing will blow you away, but, on the flipside, nothing will make you sick. «Meh,» about sums it up.

I’ve eaten here a couple times previously and the food was okay. I ate here for lunch today, and my food was so gross that I threw it in the garbage. The chicken was cold and rubbery, and my tray was covered in grease. I’ll never eat here again, and I suggest you don’t either.

I go to this place a couple times a month for lunch. They have some pretty solid meat depending on your preferences and taste. My personal favorites are the sausage, burnt ends, and ribs — in that order. What really sets this place apart are 1) its unusual menu items for a barbecue place, and 2) its sides. On the unusual items front — they have a couple of bowls that are surprisingly good. I am usually a bbq purist — often not even saucing the meat — so to throw meats in a bowl with onions, peppers, and potatoes(or cornbread and beans) was something difficult for me to accept. But it opened my eyes and was amazing. Secondly their sides are great. They have some great sugar-crusted cornbread, as well as pretty good beans and cheesy corn.

Overall neat place. My boyfriend and I went here for lunch. We both had 2 meats and a side. So we had the pulled pork, burnt ends, chicken, and beef, aso this allowed us to try a little bit of everything. The sides we had were the beans and cheesy corn. Out of all that this is my reveiw: Pulled Pork: was very good in flavor, and pretty moist Burnt Ends: not bad, also pretty moist Chicken: was ok, pretty dry Beef: ok in flavor, but pretty dry as well Beans: probably my favorite thing. Corn: was pretty good. They do have a special on Mondays: buy one pulled pork sandwich get one!(Since the pulled pork was the best meat, I would probably go back on a Monday)

I hate to say it, but I’m not as sold on this place as I used to be. I hate saying that, because I love the concept, and I love the location along my commute home, but… I’m not as sold as I once was. The last two visits have been underwhelming. Once was a pulled pork sandwich with creamy slaw, and another was a burned ends bowl with beans. The burnt ends are average, and the beans are still probably the best thing on the menu, and some of the best in KC. The pork and slaw, however, are pretty weak. Although piled on to the sandwich, the pork has been dry, tough and almost cold, with a very average flavor. The slaw… I don’t know what it is, but I really, really dislike(almost, gasp, hate) the flavor. The service has been forgetful, and the prices are starting to seem a bit high for the quality of my last two experiences. I’m not saying don’t go here. Maybe I’ve just been unlucky lately, because my first couple visits were quite nice, but I’m just… worried about the trend.
