La Dolce Bakery

Living in this area you would think there would be an abundance of Italian pastry shops but so far this has been the only one I’ve tried and enjoyed. It is a very small place and you really need to preorder things, which is why I’m taking off a star. It would be great to be able to go in and have lots to choose from. I ordered my daughters communion cake from here, a Napoleon cake, it was outrageous!!! Been back on several different occasions for pastries and they’ve always been good.
If some talented baker is reading this please open a pastry shop in the area, preferably with coffee and seating ;)

Best bakery I’ve ever been to! Everything is always so fresh and the girls in the front are always so pleasant and helpful to work with! Love this bakery and I will be a frequent customer! :)

Delicious cookies and good prices but I wish they’d bring back the fan cookies because they were a family favorite and they won’t make them anymore :(That’s why I’m only giving 4 stars

They are the best bakery in all of Old Bridge. I was just in there today they were so helpful and kind. I was going to go back real soon they are that good.

One of the worst customer service experiences ever. Walked in to order cupcakes for next week. The lady at the counter was acting as though it was such an inconvenience for me to be there. Was completely rude and disinterested in taking the order. I will NEVER step foot in this bakery again. They have lost my business for good.

I wrote a review on this place back in June 2013 but I must change my opinion unfortunately! We ordered bread (round loaves of semolina) from them for christmas eve dinner at my house-​they make the BEST semolina bread! I had to preorder to ensure they wouldnt sell out first thing. I wanted two loaves but I had to order three to make their minimum. My husband woke up early to go get our bread and waited in a 20 min line. He picked out some pastries with the bread and came home. I asked him if it was raining out bc the bread bag was SAOKED! He said no-​come to find out they packaged the bread hot from the oven so the humidity of the bread had nowhere to go and saturated the bag, which gave us 3 loaves of SERIOUSLY WET bread. We had to throw out all 3 loaves and bc the line was 20 min we wouldnt even consider going back. We threw our money rt in the trash that day!
Last weekend I went in to get some pastries to bring to a friends for dinner and I got some cannolis and a few personal tiramisu cups. The tiramisu looked so cute-​I tried them first at my friends. The top was nice but the entire bottom was soacking wet water tiramisu. It literally looked like a dirty water drink underneath the pretty top and was disgusting!
They make amazing jelly cookies and cannolis and their italian and semolina bread is delicious if you buy it from the counter! I am very disappointed with how much money ive waster there in the last few weeks :(

So friendly and nice ! Gave us two cookies for free! The prices are great! Cookie size was huge! Only negative thing to say is that the black and white cookies are not the best, otherwise love this place and will definitely return, THANK YOU !

Oh a whim (I was actually at the auto parts store a few stores away), I decided to walk into La Dolce.
Inside I actually bumped in a neighbor who apparently is a regular at La Dolce and spoke very highly of the offerings.
Looking at the numerous cakes, pastries, cookies on display they all looked (and let me mention that this bakery smelled awesome walking in) to confirm my neighbor’s opinion.
I decided on the freshly baked Cheese Danish, a small chocolate Cannoli (being an Italian bakery this was a given), and a Lobster Tail, which I chose based on a customer in front of me who ordered one… it looked so good that I had to get one too!
Cheese Danish was solidly good; with a nice texture and just enough cheese to add that richness.
Cannoli was better with a nice crunchy chocolate shell and a creamy rich filling.
The Lobster Tail was the star of the show with a light flaky crisp shell and a very very guilty feeling rich cream filing that was just right!
I didn’t look at La Dolce’s reviews until I got home and was a bit surprised at the low ratings, but they seem to be related to the service as opposed to the quality of the baked goods.
My experience with the service was perfectly fine.

Today’s date October15th 2014. Bakery around 12 in the afternoons walked in and no one was there and waited for about 10 minutes after yelling hello three times only to get no response finally their phone started to ring thinking someone would finally come out and nope no one came out I will never go back there did smell good though

Disgusting service. This is the second time in two days I walk inside and walked out with nothing!
The first time I came in to buy a few cookies and a cupcake the total was under 10.00 and she says that there is a minimum 10.00 dollars. I Politely tell her then I will not order anything, she then rolls her eyes and says thanks for wasting my time.
The Next Day I come in with my Girlfriend. This time we both have cash in hand and decided a bunch of cookies. The same Blonde woman was there. She tried to upsell two pounds of cookies because the cookies on the left side cost more per pound than the right side when you mix them together. We both politely told her to seperate both cookies in seperate bags that way we wont be charged extra. She said «oh god I’m not doing that» once again she was rolling her eyes at us and giving us disgusting looks, she also told us to hurry up there is another person in line. We decided to leave because of her bad attitude. On our way walking out she said «GO TO HELL».
I would like to get in contact with the owner to report the problem. This place is unreal I can’t believe i walked in two times in two days and came out with nothing.

Terrible service. Unwelcoming attitude. Never ever stepping in. Seem very uninterested in doing business.

Saturday 4:00 they close at 8 I go to buy pastries and there out of almost everything I mean you have 4 more hours to close small cannolis no sfioltel no lobster tails and an attitude by one of the girls could care less that there out of things. I’m so sorry I still bought there I should have gone to abbate in matatwan. This is a great bakery if your on a diet there’s nothing there to buy.

This is a nice bakery if you need fresh bread, cake, cookies and other pastries. Some times you get great service but when the old lady is there you get the snap every now and then from her and you feel very unwelcome at times. If you can over look the chance of seeing her then its worth the visit.

Really, I’d give this place a 4.5 if I could. Their cannolis are awesome. Also, my birthday cake (a strawberry shortcake) came from here and it was probably the most delicious one I’ve ever had. It had a whipped cream filling and they didn’t skimp on the strawberry filling like a lot of places do. Their prices are really reasonable too!
