The Taste of Thai Orchard

Have only really had Pad Thai here, but all in all, it’s pretty good! Can’t comment on the atmosphere or décor because we always get it delivered or take-​out. The owners are very friendly and remember the repeat customers. Good portions, a little pricey, but the best Thai place in OOB, so well worth it.

A late night arrival for our mini vacation at Old Orchard prompted me to search out some local vegan friendly eats. Spotted this place just a short distance from the hotel and walked in to a totally empty restaurant. Now usually I would think twice, but I was hungry and it was late, so I gave it a shot.
The food was awesome, although the portion size left much to be desired. The curry was spot on with just the right spices. Can’t recall the particular dishes, but they were all solid.
As a fellow restaurant owner, I wish this new establishment all the best. You have mastered the most important thing… the food. Now just liven up the place a bit and you’ll be all set.

Who’d have thunk it – delicious Thai food just steps away from the noise and deep-​fried squalor of the OOB pier and amusement park? But there it was. The space is big and cavernous, maybe a renovated furniture showroom. Just ignore that and focus on the food… which is plain amazing. Our egg rolls were just OK, but you don’t need those – the main courses and noodles are jaw-​droppingly good. The curries are light, filled with fresh vegetables and layered with flavor: lemongrass, kaffir lime, chili… it’s all there, and the pad thai is a perfect, not-​too-​sweet, not-​too-​goopy version. Best of all, this kitchen is not afraid of spicy: you can order food with 1 – 5 «stars» of hotness. Anything from 3 stars up will be spicier than 90% of the Thai food you’ve eaten in US restaurants. This was on a par with the best Thai food I’ve eaten in DC and LA, and better, by a long shot, than any Thai food I’ve had in the Northeast. No kidding. If you are within 50 miles of OOB, this is a must-​try.
