Anytime Fitness

I have been a member of this club for over one year now and I enjoy the atmosphere, and the club owners Liz and Herb are very nice people.
Most recently however, the club has been in decline. A promised new treadmill to replace one that is broken for over 2 months has not been replaced. Signs over the cleaning wipes say «take one only» …the one wipe that is sticking out is usually dry with no disinfectant on it is… really one only! Since joining this gym I have brought my own disinfectant wipes because many times they are out.
I like this gym and I enjoy my interaction with the owners, again very nice people. Please ask for help from members if you are having difficulties, I think that you will be surprised at the helpful response that you may receive. I (we) want this gym to succeed, but you need to reach out to members for suggestions on how to make this club better and be successful.
A new club will be opening soon down the street and another club may be opening near by soon… it’s time to be proactive and make Anytime Fitness stand out… helpful input is only a step away! Succeed or not… it’s in your hands!

The gym is small but has everything you could need. Elizabeth one of the owners is very friendly and helpful. The gym is always clean and all the members are friendly. If you like smaller gyms I would suggest trying them out.

Great clean club without the hassle of the big gym. It had everything I needed to get my workout done. Real enjoyable!

My wife and I must be going to the «other «Anytime Fitness in Old Saybrook. The previous reviewer can’t be going to the gym that Elizabeth and Herb own and run. The gym we go to 4 times a week is very clean, very organized, and most importantly owned by an extremely wonderful couple. In regards to having another gym in other parts of the country. We have one less than a mile from our home in Florida. Must be the luck of the Irish. Being new to the gym scene we interviewed a number of gyms in the shoreline area. Hands down Anytime Fitness was and remains the best.

This is the worst gym in the area… hands down!!! If you’re doing your research on which gym to go to in the Old Saybrook/​Essex areas, just skip wasting your time on this place all together. Here’s why:
* They advertise locations all over the US and your key works everywhere. Well my husband and I travel a lot and never seem to have an Anytime nearby… hmmmm…
* The gym is always a mess! No one cleans up after themselves and the staff doesn’t care to clean up the place either. It’s hard to find things and a waste of time when you have to look all over the gym for things/​move things around etc. b/​c it’s not where it should be.
* The owners are not helpful. We said we wanted to cancel to go to another gym and the male owner said «well you’ll have to talk to my wife to cancel». She (the wife/​owner) said she would take care of it, and NEVER did. I shouldn’t have to still call 3 months after canceling to try and get the membership taken care of, and have to deal with them continuing to pass me off, not return calls, etc etc etc. Very frustrating.
* Oh, but let’s not forget a missed call/​VM from the wife/​owner that I still have saved on my phone trying to convince us to stay… but now I magically can’t get a hold of her?
* Corporate isn’t much help either. They say you have to go through the owners since corporate doesn’t actually own the location… seriously?! If they aren’t helping at the location, then who else can I go to?!
* I had to call the bank to do a stop payment on our card b/​c they never took care of the cancelation and charged us for 2 extra months!!!
