I should know better than buying a certificate without checking Unilocal first. The first thing I notice is how dirty the windows and entry way are. If it hadn’t been for my certificate I would have walked back out right then. All I could think of was an episode of Gordon Ramsay’s restaurant show. We stood by the welcome desk for awhile while people working the bar watched us. I really did think that at any moment someone would at least say someone would be right with us. The bar had a few people in it, but the dinning area only had one other couple. This is was it between 5 and six on a Saturday night. Waitress told us we would have to wait for bread, someone was running to the store to get some. I ordered the rib eye steak but was told the last one was just ordered, so I had the New York Strip instead. Vegetable of the day was asparagus but we got broccoli and green beans because they had run out of asparagus also, although we didn’t know this until the dinners came out. My wife liked her dinner, not sure why I tried one of her stuffed shrimp and had never had such a tough over cooked shrimp. My steak was tough and even the Cajun seasoning did nothing to help it’s flavor. Now, the best part of our meal was the wonderful waitress we had. A very nice German woman who we talked with and who was very nice. I really thought she owned the place the way she tried to accommodate us in every way. The owners should call Gordon Ramsey for a restaurant and menu makeover and also give this nice waitress a raise for trying to hold the place together.

Came for dinner and enjoyed the experience . The atmosphere was cozy and the food was very good. I had the grilled pork chop which was excellent. Service was prompt and the waitress was friendly and engaging. I recommend the place highly.

Had dinner here after shopping at the outlets. We had a certificate which was how we found out about this place. We were greeted & served by a very pleasant hostess/waitress. Nice and cozy dining area. My husband had the 12oz NY steak and he enjoyed it. I had the crab cakes and loved it as well. We enjoyed our crab bisque but not the escargot. It tasted like it was marinated in chemicals. I had one piece and spat it out(sorry, TMI). It was removed from our check without argument. Not very attentive with drink refills but that’s an easy fix — ask. Overall we had a great dining experience.

I went here for breakfast today and must say it is now my favorite breakfast spot in the area. First, the staff was SO nice. The woman helping us was extremely attentive to our needs and was just overall amazing. The food was also great. I had a cheese omelet, home fries and toast. Other members of my party had French toast, pancakes, and eggs. Everyone was satisfied with their meals. Prices were very reasonable too!

Just had breakfast here, it was delightful! The food was delicious and the prices were incredibly reasonable. The décor was also charming – as its winter with snow covering everything in sight, the roaring fire was a welcomed touch. Perhaps the greatest treat was our server. She was so friendly and welcoming and attentive. We were a relatively demanding crowd with lots of last minute requests and she was on it with such kindness and quickness, I don’t know if I’ve ever encountered the like. Would definitely recommend. We will be coming back!

Came in for dinner around 8pm. Restaurant was empty, there were people in the bar. The hostess/waitress asked if we wanted to sit by the fireplace as it was cold out. The waitress was very pleasant and attentive. I ordered a small house salad and ordered chicken marsala for dinner. My wife had shrimp with pasta. My dinner was 16.00 plus 3.00 for the salad. The Chicken Marsala was served with Pasta. My meal was pretty good. There was enough food to satisfy but not over fill you up. The pace of service was fine for the two of us. Did not feel rushed or felt we waited too long for food. I would come back and give it another try. The restaurant promotes«Laurie’s world famous breakfast» on Sundays. Might check that out when in the area in the summer.

Okay– this was for breakfast. I had a pulled pork omelet. Excellent. There were 2 pancake orderers at the table who said they were the best pancakes ever. Also a super thumbs up for the corned beef hash and for one of the many creative eggs Benedict. I don’t know about her dinners — but it seems worth a try after that. I know the owner has a history of great breakfasts in the area and it keeps on! Dinner menu looks a little ordinary. Perhaps she needs to put some of her talent and creative juices into that — -

Ate here for breakfast last week and enjoyed every aspect. The exterior needs some work and the interior is dated but the breakfast was phenomenal. Between our group, I would say we tried about 5 of the breakfast specials– everything was prepared to our liking and the service was on point. Glad we gave Blue Crab a shot!

First time last night at the Blue Crab, certainly not the last. The food was delicious, the service was great and everyone is so friendly. To top it off, the entertainment was provided by the beautiful and multi– talented Natalie. She’s there every Friday and Saturday night. I can’t wait to go back.

Better options in town is a good way to put it. I have heard there’s a good bar crowd, but I’m not sure what means in Old Saybrook. I’m happy to see positive reviews for breakfast! I loved Laurie’s breakfasts at the old Muffin Corner in Westbrook, so I’m excited to try it out!

Horrible. With so many other places in town that serve fresh seafood, this place should be last on your list. All the food was dry and bland, and the service was slow too. Avoid at all costs.
