It depends what you’re looking for… casual consistent fried seafood, it’s a solid choice. Is it a nice place to go? Not really. It’s like a diner, which is fine if you are okay with that. My fried oysters will well done and enjoyable. If you are looking for straightforward, this is the place for you!

The food is always enjoyable here and the staff is pleasant and efficient. It’s kind of a hi volume factory food type establishment with a quaint point of delivery. Definitely can’t argue with their incredible success here. I would return(as I have often). I had the double order of fried whole belly clams and my guests had the fried fish sandwich and all was just fine.

As former residents of the Connecticut coast(Old Lyme), one of the restaurants we miss is Lenny & Joe’s. We’ve visited the locations in Westbrook, Madison, and New Haven often, but the Westbrook site is our favorite. The food is fresh, excellently prepared, and always delicious. The service is good, and prices are reasonable. We like the outdoor seating, but have no complaints about the inside dining area. The wait can be extremely long, but the food is worth it.

Seated a short drive off of 95, Lenny & Joe’s makes a convenient stop for the whole family, but you’ll be far from the only ones. It was absolutely packed with families returning from the shore with out of control kids for a weekend lunch. The huge outdoor seating area is good for this, and even includes a carousel and ice cream stand. Incredibly, they are dog friendly outside. Service is about what you’d expect from a huge seafood place, a bit surly and food takes a while, though at least you know it’s fresh then. People love congregating right inside the door, which isn’t the line for ordering, so head further in where there usually isn’t a line. You’ll then get a number which will be called inside and out when ready. The clam strips were pretty good though a little dried out from the flash fry. They definitely needed the tartar sauce to keep them moist. The lobster roll was pretty good with warm butter and fresh lobster, but the roll was a bit disappointing as the bread got soggy and fell apart at the end. It really didn’t compare to the rolls at the nearby Lobster Landing which was also less stressful.

We were driving through Westbrook and saw this place packed on a Sunday afternoon. All those cars cant be wrong. Seafood places like this are harder to come by these days– you wont find any seared reduction guava sauces here. Seafood in its basic form, broiled raw or fried. We enjoyed the fried clam strips and a crab and scallop casserole. Everything cooked well, they clearly go out of their way to clean their oil regularly. Service was quick and friendly, and the space is warm and inviting with flip fops allowed! Though the sides were a little boring, I can see past that with well cooked seafood. We’d come back!

This is an all time favorite, it’s fast but not fast food. It’s a good beach day pit stop. We actually drove about an hour to come for lunch at my mothers request, it was worth every minute in the car. Fish and chips are stellar with a huge portion, and the coleslaw is perfect, we also had clam strips and a lobster roll. It’s priced fairly and you can sit outside to enjoy the day. Couldn’t ask for much more!

It all depends on what you order. We had: * Clam chowder(grade: D) * Lazy lobster(grade: A) * Corn on the cob(grade: A) * Fried clams(grade: C) * Ice cream(grade: B) So, if you stick with stuff from the lobster side and avoid the fried food, you’re likely to really enjoy your meal. And they offer outside seating and a carousel for the kids.

The service was excellent, food was fresh and a Friendly atmosphere. The loaf of bread was so tasty I thought I was at a bakery. We will be back!

Now serving Pepsi rather than Coke so I won’t be back. And if you’ve ever been here in the summer you know they don’t need my business. But it’s disappointing. I guess it’s time to check out the Clam Castle across the street.

So many things good about this place Fried zucchini, red potatoes killer. Beer — Sam seasonal on tap Mahi mahi– delicious, probably will try with a different sauce than mango salsa… (s)c®od– flakey yummy not too greasy Décor– they have an actual harpoon on the wall Something so New England-y about it here. Will definitely come back and likely try something fried.

I stopped in yesterday because my other half wanted fried seafood. I’m not a seafood person so I ordered the fried chicken like I always do. The chicken was fried in the same oil as the seafood and did not taste like chicken, it was fishy and I should have brought it back but I was hungry. I did not care for it. Next time I will just get a burger or a hotdog. Also, they don’t offer honey mustard sauce anymore along with the chicken. Times must be tough. On the other hand, the French fries were good as well as the coleslaw. Almost $ 13.00 for the fried chicken platter.

My first time here and I loved it!!! We went to the beach and wanted to grab a bite to eat afterwards and I’m so glad we stopped here! The food is amazing, out of this world amazing! It’s a pretty big location they’ve got an ice cream shack right behind with a carousal and a lot of picnic tables to eat outside. I would actually take the drive just to eat here. The menu is huge but the staff actually helps you out a lot, which is nice! I will deff be back!

This is a very popular stop for people traveling route 1. With many choices for fresh/fried seafood, many flock to here because of the name recognition. I’m a stickler for good seafood and I’ll start with the lobster bisque. The chunks of lobster in the bisque were tasty but the bisque itself was extremely off. Not like any other bisque I’ve ever had and not in a good way. It’s off colored and has strings of carrots in it… if you’re a bisque fan… this is not for you. Now…the lobster roll on the other hand? Pretty dRn perfect. Perfectly buttered and toasted hot dog roll with a generous amount of fresh, hot, buttered lobster meat. Really great flavor and great size for the money. I also had some of the fries and clam strips. Both pretty decent. I guess this place has some great items and some misses. So, roll the dice with what you like and hope you leave happy. If you don’t, come back and try something else and make sure it’s the lobster roll.

I quite like the way this location is a lot more casual than the other locations. With walk up order service, and loads of options to chose from(even gluten free options) there really is something for everyone! I’ve been to the other locations and I think, if given the choice in the future, I’d much rather eat here. It’s more lively and bustling with people behind the counter and in the seating area. I ordered the fries scrod and it was pretty much the best seafood I’ve had on vacation so far. The batter was perfectly seasoned and the fish itself was moist and very tasty. The crinkly cut fries were a bit on the dry side, but better dry than greasy. The cole slaw was spot in, the best I’ve ever eaten. Perfectly seasoned, not too over powering with mayo. Delicious! I definitely recommend this location if you’re looking for a casual sit down meal with the option for ice cream afterwards at the little ice cream shop on the same plot of land. It’s a must eat!

If you are looking for a casual, hole-in-the-wall seafood place, which I happen to love, this is a good option. My boyfriend got the fish tail dinner, which was yummy fried fish, clam strips, scallops, etc. You can’t go wrong there. I got the steamed king crab legs, which was fresh and again, can’t go too wrong there. I was, however, very disappointed with the chowder. Usually, places like this have creamy, delicious chowder. This was more like fish water. They told me it was Rhode Island clam chowder, which I am not familiar with, and now I will clarify before I order it anywhere. Otherwise, it was a good experience.
