Wanting to take my 14 year old daughter on a well-​guided fishing trip, I researched CT guides quite thoroughly before I called up Captain Mike and pulled the trigger. I’m glad I did. Mike wasted no time in getting bait and putting us onto fish. He was very attentive to our needs, especially so to my daughter’s. She never waited more than a couple of seconds between casts. I’ve fished with guides before that were impatient, so it was a relief to fish with someone who never showed signs of a temper, frustration, or impatience. In fact, he took time to share his knowledge.
Ultimately, a guide is booked for the purpose of catching fish. Mike definitely came through in that regard. My daughter’s first fish, caught almost immediately, was a trophy-​sized 42 lb fish. At the end of the night, we caught almost a dozen fish and lost several others due mostly to my own hook-​setting mistakes. Given that my daughter outfished me by 4 fish, I’d call the trip a huge success.
Mike is passionate about what he does, as he readily admits and makes obvious. I’m planning on a surface action fishing trip in the Fall. It’s a guarantee that I’ll be calling Captain Mike Roy.

Mike is very professional and a terrific guide. He knew right where the fish were and put us on top of them continuously. We met him at 5AM at the boat ramp and returned to the ramp at 10AM. Over the 5 hour period we landed close to 20 stripers in the 25−35lb range — not to mention the ones that got away. I highly recommend Reel Cast Charters.

Captain Mike is all around great guy and great guide. Mike put us on the fish several times and wish we hadn’t been so rusty cuz we missed a few no fault to him. I got lucky and pulled in a 29′ Striper real close to the boat on a plug which provided a great dinner the next night. Mike stayed out an extra hour trying to get us more and probably would have stayed longer if we hadn’t got that one! We will definitely go out with Mike again.
