I came to get carry out from this place. I ordered saltenas and Piqué a lo Macho(steak, tomatoes, onions and cheese with fries) thinking would be a safe item to taste for the first time having Bolivian food. The portions are huge, but the steak tasted like it had gone bad, seasoned and fried. I dipped it in their hot sauce hoping it would take that awful taste. Let’s say that my tummy did not agree. I had a couple of bites of the saltenas. I really did not like them some watery slop, discussing. Hey, I’m Spanish… I should like this food right… NOPE …BIGMISTAKE. If you are looking for an excuse to call in sick to work… tell your boss you ate some bad food at El Antojito in Olney! I’ll vouch for you! And I could not give it a NO star rating!

I’ve had Saltena’s a Bolivian delicacy since the early days of childhood. I can say that no one in the DC, VA, MD areas can touch El Antojito. Their Saltena’s are as close as you can get to perfection. I have finally found the holy grail of authentic Bolivian food. Call in ahead, about 15 – 20 minutes for take out so that they come out fresh from the oven. You won’t be disappointed.

Awesome Bolivian food, the saltenas are amazing! I crave them on a regular basis and so does my 2 yr old son. They also serve fried cheese empanadas: fried dough stuffed with cheese and topped with powdered sugar, perfect dessert. They only have 2 small tables so you should plan for take-out. If you’re in the area definitely try it!

I have never before tried Central American or Bolivian food, but would I be missing out had I not tried this place! El Antojito is a carryout restaurant located next to Wasabi Zen and Le Manniquin Pis. I was sold after tasting the saltenas and empanadas. Saltenas are baked and filled with your choice of chicken, beef, or vegetables. The saltenas also have an amazing sweet, juicy sauce. The empanadas are just as good, but fried and do not have the sweet sauce. I also really enjoyed the plaintains. Try this place — you will not be disappointed!

El Antojito is setup like a deli, that offers great Central American/Bolivian food. We tried the saltenas and empanadas which are stuffed with combinations of vegetables, beef, chicken, or cheese. The saltenas are baked and also have a great sweet sauce in them. Also tried the plantains and fried yucca which were excellent. Another bonus is that the prices are very reasonable. Try them!
