I experienced the worst service I’ve ever had at Sol Azteca this past weekend. The waiter could not leave our table fast enough — so fast that he never heard us finish our statements. I do not think this particular waiter liked kids, because he seemed annoyed at ours. I requested a 2nd drink and verbally, he got it right, but when he brought it to the table, it was wrong. To make matters worse, he took off before I could tell him and I had to flag down a different server. My husband and I are very generous tippers(we start at 20% and you can go up or down from there, typically), but we only left a small tip this time because the service was so disappointing.

The food is good, but the service is slow and not attentive to their guests. I felt neglected and ignored the whole time, which is bad, because the food is actually good.

Called numerous times this past Saturday to place a carry-out order… The phone rang and rang and rang… No one answered. So, I took my business elsewhere where they do answer their phones :). Good luck trying to reach them over the phone!

They have the really awesome margaritas! As someone born & raised in Texas, this is delicious Tex-Mex! Staff is also extremely friendly & efficient! I will be back again & again!

Bland, mediocre dishes. I cannot understand how anyone could rave about this place. Three out of five of our orders were not as described in the extensive menu. There was no sense of authenticity. There is no way that this is the food the cooks would make for their own families. Our server was friendly enough, and it is in the lower price range for table service restaurants in the area. Just don’t go there expecting anything special. Unfortunately the closest alternative is in Ashton, which I suspect is the reason they don’t make any effort to improve. Look past the margarita soaked five star reviews and you will find a consistent theme of mediocrity. Olney will continue to struggle with restaurant options as long as we settle for lowered expectations.

drinks were good one time, but bad the next(at $ 14 /glass, no less). fajitas seem to come out well done regardless of how they’re ordered. tortillas are store bought, i think; certainly not fresh. everything costs at least a little more than it should and cheese is extra.

I love Sol Azteca because the food is very good I love the Pollo Saltado. I agree with several of the other Unilocaler reviewers as a relates to the bar. the manager needs to work on getting the staff to be more responsive in the bar area. Your place us always full and busy. Spend the $s to staff it well. It can be challenging when you know the food is very good but a major aspect of the service is not.

Ew!!! I know it doesn’t sound mature but the food was just – Ew!!! We were hungry and headed to Olney Winery and thought hey Sol Azteca is next door and you can’t go wrong with Tex –Mex – Wrong! For starters we were brought chips and«salsa.» The«salsa» was just canned tomatoes and onions with some cilantro on top – just horrible!!! For our entrees I got the Reynoso which was a combo of a chicken taco, chicken enchilada and a chicken tamale. The taco arrived soaking wet from the side of beans so was inedible. The tamale was just gross, the worst I’ve ever had in my life – and not being extra dramatic here-it was really that bad. The enchilada was just ok but I had to drown it in hot sauce since it had no flavor. My friend had the Lomo Saltado and said it was just«ok.» At least our waiter was really nice but here I am at midnight back at my house digging in my fridge for food — ugh – NEVERAGAIN!!!

Yum! My boyfriend and I ate here last night. We got a chicken quesadilla for an appetizer which only had four Pieces(little small but that’s fine), he got the chicken fajitas and I got the beef fajitas. Our food was delicious. It came out very fast! I was surprised honestly. Our server was really nice as well and attentive to us. We also got the gold margarita pitcher. that was surprisingly pricy($ 42). It was a little heavy on the mixer they use. I probably will skip that next time I come in. I definitely will comeback for the food! I loved it.

The food is ah-mazing and flavorful, there’s huge portions, and everything’s reasonably priced. The staff is super patient and charming. I cannot get enough of their mixed drinks… The mango margaritas and mojitos are absolutely scrumptious. All in all, Sol Azteca is a solid Mexican restaurant. Their staff and service is fast and efficient, and the food is so incredibly delicious!

I attended a lunch meeting here a few weeks ago, it was my first visit to Sol Azteca. it will not be my last! I ordered the seafood special of the day; it was a tilapia in a perfectly lovely, flavorful cream sauce. Colleagues ordered the guacamole which was VERY good, seafood soup(also delicious), the steak fajitas which they said were terrific, and the Tijuana platter(I sampled — very tasty). Service was very friendly and cordial. Atmosphere was warm, inviting, and not noisy(though we were there for a late-ish lunch … could be louder at dinner). Prices may be very slightly higher than at similar suburban Tex-Mex places, but only a little — and the quality of the food is solidly good. They’re situated in a moderately upscale strip mall, so parking is easy and plentiful. I look forward to going back. I’m intrigued by the roast duck, and their variation of a surf-and-turf sounds good, too.

We’ve eaten at Sol Azteca twice. Both times have been consistently great! Waitstaff is attentive and charming. The food is hot, fast, and delicious. Large portions that are nicely seasoned and plated. Nothing is too spicy and there is an AMAZING variety for a little place.

I’ve lived in the area for years. A fellow Unilocaler and I were deciding on where to go for dinner a few weeks ago. He points to Sol Azteca and asked me how many times I’ve eaten there. And based on the number I said(«a few times»), we decided on someplace else.(Because if I’ve lived in the area for years and I’ve only been there a few times, it’s probably just okay, right? That was the reasoning.) Afterwards, I wondered to myself: WHY didn’t I go to Sol Azteca more often? It’s literally minutes from me and the food has always been good… It’s like the stars aligned, because a couple weeks ago, my sisters suggested we meet there for dinner and margaritas. YESPLEASE. They both ordered the steak fajitas, which is usually what I order. This time, I ordered the Pollo Saltado. My dish was pretty good, but not the best Saltado I’ve ever had(Uh… Sardi’s Lomo Saltado!)… the sauce was a little too watery and tomato-y. BUTTHEIRFAJITASTHOUGH. Of course I picked off their plates… the steak was soooo tender. Mmmm. Portions are large… none of us could finish our food. After our meals, I wanted something sweet(salt overload… I ate so many chips…). So we ordered a Cajeta — a large scoop of vanilla ice cream coated with toasted coconut, nuts and topped with cajeta(caramel sauce) — to share. oh em gee. I probably ate more than half of it. We ordered a second one. And finished every. damn. bite. I’d go back just for the Cajeta alone…

I stood at the bar waiting about 10 minutes to place a to go order watched waitresses walk past me and ignore me like I wasn’t even there. Then some guy who had placed and order over the phone comes and they take care of him prior to even looking at me. But the food was good and they will normally bring food over to the olney winery if they aren’t super busy. They give so many chips and dip

Eeeh. Was expecting something amazing looking at reviews and suggestions from friends but was quite disappointed. Salsa was very watery, chips were too thick, fajitas smelled amazing but didn’t have much flavor. Parking really sucks at this plaza. Interior is nice but nothing to write home about. I preferred to go to doors down to Grill Marx or Sardis round the corner. I did try a place called Pollo Mex in Colesville a few days before which was amazing. It’s a little smaller but food was out of this world! They got a five star review from me.

I’ve been here a bunch in the past. Most of the time the service is very good but a couple times has been subpar to say the least. The food is very good and the guacamole is one of my favorites around. Also, the crab quesadilla is awesome.

I came here for the first time earlier this week. The food was delicious and came out quickly. I had shrimp fajitas. The shrimp was cooked perfectly. What wowed me the most about this spot was its stellar service. Our waiter was very attentive and asked if we wanted frosted mugs/limes with our Negra Modelo’s. Obviously this guy knows how they are meant to be served.

Soggy burritos, not a single menu online unless it’s soups, appetizers, and salads. For a Mexican restaurant that’s been in town for TENYEARS how can you not have a website?! If the food was amazing maybe I could excuse the lack of a website but sadly the food is the worst Mexican food in the area. Wet burritos, poor salsa, bad combination options, and very slow service. As I’ve said before, as an AZ native I know salsa and the salsa here tastes like it’s from a jar. Maybe that’s why they don’t have a website? Not having a website or any sort of online menu makes it difficult to order carryout for my family when working late or when figuring out which Mexican restaurant to take my family to in the area. That along with the bland food has officially made my family decide to go elsewhere. It’s worth the extra few miles to dine somewhere that can actually take the time to have a website, online menu, and quality Mexican food. I’ve given this place a chance for 10 years and they’ve let me down every single time.
