I’ve lived in the area for fifteen years and this was the first time I’ve tried this restaurant. I hate to say it, but the food is not good. We ordered two orders of shrimp toast which was burnt, and though we gamely tried to eat it, we realized that there were no shrimp at All. It was some kind of greyish yellow paste. Had a weird aftertaste. My shrimp and scallops hunan was okay, but not the greatest. Too much food coloring and corn starch. I will get my chinese food elsewhere.

We got really sick off the food here. We will never order from this place again. We been in the area for almost 12 years next year. And we never been so sick like this at any carryout at all.

I’ve been eating here for a while and never had a bad time with the food. The service is like most Chinese pickup places depending on the situation. The delivery guy rung me out for my food and was very busy on the phone. Recently I had pretty normal service. The food is always good! For $ 10 you get a plastic bowl stuffed like crazy and rice. Always fills me up!

Zero stars. Awful carry-out experience. My order was wrong, and a woman who said she was the manager was outrageously rude when I tried to have the right order delivered. I am not a picky eater, and I typically just eat the wrong dish when that’s what I get. In this case, the wrong dish had pork, which is one of the few things I don’t eat. The woman(manager?) I spoke with was insultingly rude — I’d say even verbally abusive. I ended up driving back to House Fortune to request a refund in person. The same woman then yelled and cursed at me in person. Her co-workers gave me sympathetic looks and gestures behind her back. As I walked out the door, I heard her screaming at a co-worker. I looked back, and a cook had his head hung down with his eyes closed, shaking his head, apparently just trying to remain calm in the face of a tirade. This was an overall depressing experience. I seriously do not understand how someone can treat other humans beings like that.

Come patronize if you like to be treated unfairly! This is my very first review! Honestly, this place does not deserve even 1 star. In this day and age, customer service is paramount and this place really does not want your repeat business. I placed an order for delivery to my place of work, went online to find the closest chinese place that would deliver. I didn’t have a menu but was sure this place had some coupons when I placed my order. One of my coworkers asked if I got anything«Free» to which I reply that«the restaurant did not honor anything because I did not have a physical coupon». So she called them for me to ask if they were going to comp anything and they said that they would throw in two egg rolls and hung up. When the delivery guy arrived, they brought menus with coupons and one of the coupons had a «FREE General Tso’s entrée with any order $ 15 or more!» I was mad that they did not offer it to me when I initially ordered, but by that time, it was too late. This made another coworker mad, so she decided to call on my behalf. She didn’t even order with us, but felt so strongly that House of Fortune(HOF) could of at least honored a coupon without the actual«coupon» when I initially ordered over the phone. HOF said it was too late, to which my friend said, «I don’t think we are going to order from you guys anymore if you clearly did not offer the option for the free entrée when we asked about the coupons when other local restaurants we have ordered from have».To this, the lady at HOF replied, «then go there than» and hung up. That pretty much sums it up. The food is sub par, not much to write home about, we ordered the beef chow fun, two different pan fried noodles dishes and the crab rangoon appetizer. Portions are small here. Customer service leaves much to be desired. Next time I’m craving Chinese here in Olney, MD, I think I’ll stick with Chipotle… At least they have better customer service and I’d know where my food is coming from…

I’m warning everyone that this establishment will steal from you via credit card. I went there for a pick up today. Paid with my credit card. Wrote $ 0 dollars for a tip and my total was $ 17.55. Then I proceeded to call my credit card company to check up on my last purchase and to the lack of knowledge they actually charged me 21.85. I proceeded to call them and after I had explained what the deal was. They rudely told me to call my credit card company! Needless to say if you do go to house fortune. Check your online banking before you leave this establishment. I will never support this establishment ever again and I hope for your sake. You won’t either.

Crab rangoons were okay, nothing memorable. General TSO was really good, but a bit too sweet and not enough spice. My husband prefers Hunan Delight’s TSO and rangoons, I prefer Hunan’s rangoons but could go either way on the TSO. Maybe I’ll ask for extra extra spice next time(I asked for one«extra» before, but not so much). The delivery aspect is very nice, though!

There’s not much in the authentic Chinese food realm of selection here at Olney. Given our past experience with a much larger and well reviewed ‘delight’ establishment we decided to seek out their competition for either better quality or deals; huge mistake. This place takes overpriced and cost cutting to the breaded-deep-fried extreme that is truly unremarkable. We figured for a Friday things would be busy, an order placed at 7:45 took around an hour to arrive and the result has lead to the following harsh/new 1st. Unilocal-account-review that will hopefully serve as a warning to anyone else, and a notice to the establishment to clean up their act. The order was simple: A) 1 General Tso’s all white meat B) 1 pu pu platter for 2 C)1 chicken lo mein D) 1 port fried rice The results were terrible: A) For the Tso’s they either were attempting to cover up a bad order of sweet and sour chicken to pass on, or padded this with so much breading that it comprised of more than half the volume of the container. The bonus was once your up-charged white version arrives and you decide to check if it really is after cutting through your excessive breading, you will found it’s actually just concealed dark meat; I guess they weren’t expecting you to notice through all the batter? My best guess is someone was trying hide a botched order, or worse– trying to hide dark meat in what wasn’t ordered in an attempt to reduce food costs and increase profit margins… my suspicion was raised because of the next item: B) I’ve had pu pu platters from more places than I care to remember… a staple is usually 2 spare ribs and shrimp toast– this had neither. With a price tag of nearly $ 10 they give you 2 spring rolls, 2 chicken wings(seriously?), 2 beef sticks, 2 fried wontons, and 2 butterflied shrimp with so much breading it looks like a pancake. Just terrible. C) This was about the only passable item, and sadly it was given free with orders of that dollar amount. Not great, but not a disaster like the rest. D) My Fiancée is Korean, suffice to say we know rice and when someone is making something from scratch or recycling old white rice into fried rice. Guess which this was? If you guessed the latter you’d be correct. There’s two other options in the area for generic Americanized Chinese food, I would suggest either over this in a heartbeat.

STAYCLEAROFTHISPLACE!!! NOSTARS!!! We ordered $ 66.00 of food, carry out. Once home to our guest we found the two orders of «Chicken with Cashew nuts’ had NO cashews! I called up and reported the error. The manager said«so its only missing the cashews???» I asked if they could deliver the corrected two meals. She replied«I am sorry but I will not deliver, its too small of an order!» I said a $ 66.00 order is too small? She said no, the two meals missing the cashews are too small. I repeated twice«it was your error!» She said you come up and she would replace the cashews only! I said your not going to remake the order? She replied«I will put cashews in.» I drove back up leaving our guests demanded a new order which only then she remade and I returnred home to some of the worse carryout i have ever had… Take my advice and stay away…

Decent Chinese. My wife and I have tried several in this area and House Fortune seems to have the most consistently solid fare. Quick delivery too!
