Average sushi. Best in Olney but still average. The one perk is if you go for lunch you will have the restaurant to yourself.

Best sushi around! If you’re looking to tasty, high quality sushi, look no further! Though the wait for carry out can be longer than expected, it is well worth the wait! Otherwise, I’d give it a 5 star.

They have upgraded the quality if the sushi fish. It shows. Fresher yellowtail. Blue fin tuna and 2 grades of fatty tuna. Having lived in Los Angeles for many years, I felt like I ate real sushi today for the first time in many years.

Complex Asian fusion menu. Attractive & accessible floor plan. They serve Korean-Americans and many who have time for a relaxed lunch.

My wife and I are regulars at Wasabi Zen– Really good food(sushi and entrees) Staff and Sushi Chefs are always very nice and provide great service. I see a lot of other reviewers commenting that the entire staff is Korean, well no shit– we are on the east coast of the united states– I’d say 90% of Sushi places in the area are Korean. The important thing is the Sushi is very fresh, tasty, and ample in portion size. I generally get two Nigiri(Yellow Tail and Tuna) and one Maki(roll) and am stuffed.

If you want good sushi, this is the place to go in Olney. It’s a bit over priced which is why I gave it 4 stars.

Very good sushi and spicy dipping sauce to go along with it. The rolls are very large but just as delicious. Food quality was excellent and the taste was amazing don’t let the outside appearance fool you.

Went to Wasabi Zen last night and it was fine. Not the best or worst — doable sushi. I got the flying dragon roll and dynamite roll which were both good. The eel didnt seem fresh and it was very broken up which was the low point of what I had. One thing that has clearly changed is the eel sauce. If you eat eel sushi, you are familiar w eel sauce and theirs has changed which really negatively impacts my experience there. I asked the waitress the last time I was there and she said it looked darker and thicker than it usually does and I noticed the same and left it as a one off issue. It was the same last night. I will give it one more shot and hopefully it improves — others may love it so not a big deal, just not for me and I travel a lot and eat a lot of sushi and never tasted this type of eel sauce. It is heavy w a burnt taste to it, not sweet.

A gem in Olney… one of those tucked away places for locals who love Sushi. Wasabi Zen is a casual little place with roughly a dozen tables and an exceptional variety of roll combinations to make even the picky Sushi lover happy. Solid traditional choices are available(spicy tuna, California rolls. tempura creations) along with more extensive works(rainbow rolls /dragon etc. All fresh and all delightful. Wasabi Zen isn’t easy to find in it’s hidden strip mall but worth a go if you’re in Olney and want Sushi that’s a big step above the local Japanese steak house and supermarket wares.

Best sushi around, by far. Their honey California roll is divine! Be aware the hours on Unilocal are incorrect – you may want to call to make sure they’re open.

Efficient and friendly service. Delicious and fresh food, especially the sushi. I highly recommend the green tree roll, California Yammy roll, and shrimp tempura roll.

This place is ridiculous. I can’t even comment on their food because they kicked my partner and I out because they weren’t open yet. It was 3:45pm. They open at 4pm. They literally said to come back. I will never step foot in there again. Ridiculous.

Sushi in Olney and 5 stars? I can’t believe it and I am writing it. A few notable rolls we tasted: Crazy roll: had a strip of hot pepper sauce on top that an intense pepper flavor released after the milder flavors of the salmon, genius! Also tried a ‘bagel’ roll, another brilliant creation: essentially a Philadelphia roll but with a little twist(some avocado and some green onions and sesame seeds on the outside… hmm. Also make sure you try the crunchy eel roll… so good we had a second. There were only two other full table as we went for an early dinner(1700hrs) so we did not have service issues mentioned in other reviews. I will definitely be back.

Quality of sushi is 3 stars, it’s decent. But service, EXTREMELYTERRIBLE. And this is not an exaggeration. I’m from Olney and I’m always trying to support local businesses, but when the grumpy looking woman burns my fiancé’s hand(that ended with a huge blister), my respect for this place went all the way down. An apology would’ve been nice.

We love Wasabi Zen! It’s small, quiet, clean and the food is delicious! Some of the best sushi we’ve had, definitely best in Olney. We go as often as possible.

Of course this is one of the«best» sushi joints in Olney, it’s one of the ONLY sushi joints in Olney. Way overpriced, mediocre sushi. One of these places that is very aware that Olney has very limited dining options, let alone sushi– so can and does take advantage by over charging you. I’m glad we had a groupon, we would have been very sore if we had paid full price for the poorly made rolls we received. Head over to Harris Teeter for higher quality and some bang for your buck. Yes, I’m serious. Sad, but serious.

My mom and I came to Wasabi Zen for lunch. We’ve come here a few times before. She got a salmon bento box which she liked. It has a nice assortment of «everything» in the perfect potions. I ordered the mushroom roll and the avocado roll. They tasted great. I will say my only complaint is that I don’t eat meat and there seemed to be fish eggs from a previously made roll on my rolls. It’s not pleasant to have to pick through to make sure I’m not eating any masago. Otherwise, a pretty good experience. Pretty decently priced and I can’t complain about service.

If you’ve ever had a bite to eat in Olney, you know this town is full of half-hearted attempts at high-end cuisine, chain restaurants, and grocery stores. Olney can be about as gastronomically interesting as a bucket of water. One restaurant has been secretly working to change that image for a number of years now. This unsung hero? Wasabi Zen. Located behind Mattress Warehouse(Southbound Georgia Ave), the ~20 table sushi lair is Olney’s best-kept secret. Parking is crowded and can be a bit problematic during the busy dinner services; patience is a virtue, no? Wasabi Zen has many of the standard rolls and nigiri sushi you’re used to, but they have two stand-outs that deserve mention. The first is the 911 roll with spicy tuna and crab. Excellent portion size, deliciously spicy. The second is the Tower Roll. I don’t want to spoil the surprise — - just order it! The ambiance is cozy, the staff super friendly and attentive(consistently over 10+ visits), and the prices pretty reasonable. The place is always full of locals and regulars, and the same waitresses have been serving us smiles for years. Bottom line: Great for date night, or just a night out. If you’re bored with the normal favorites in Rockville, the freshness and service here is worth the trip. Don’t be afraid to ask someone at the table next to you what to order– chances are they’ve been there many times before!

This place is one of the few sushi places in olney, and probably one of the best. They have consistent quality and have good portion sizes for the price. The rolls tend to be geared towards a American palate with the use of many ingredients and sauces. If that is what your looking for then your golden. We had the spicy tuna roll, green tree roll, and 911 roll. The spicy tuna was covered in their delicious spicy mayo that had a hint of sweetness(probably from the Japanese mayo), the green tree roll was also tasty with a hefty portion of avocado. All of the rolls were neatly made. Overall the experience was nice and since we sat at the sushi bar we got a few pieces of sushi on the house while we waited for food.
