I’ve eaten here on three occasions. Twice on a Sunday evening, and once for lunch on a weekday. The food is consistently good and the prices are reasonable. The service is good as well. I have always been greeted within a minute of my arrival. The first time I had the Joojeh kabob, which features Cornish hen. It was delicious and came with rice, bread, and a grilled tomato. For lunch, I had the chicken kabob sandwich, also tasty and generously portioned. I’ve also had the chicken kabob entrée. The list of draft beer is short, but they have made excellent choices. In particular, the Goose Island IPA and Pipeline Porter. I will definitely return, and maybe try the lamb and the koobideh(ground beef) kabobs.

This was a delightful place to have dinner. The place was busy with energetic eaters! Absolutely loved it. Great ambiance, the food, all top notch! I would certainly return soon.

First visit restaurant was empty. Menu items were very expensive! Food took a long time to be served. Tables & chairs are old and interior is dark and drab. Kabobs are OK — not much better than Mimi’s Kabobs or Moby Dick’s but cost much more. Will not be back.

From the outside it does not look like much. However the quality of the food was extremely good. The kabobs were moist and cooked perfect. The owner Matt was present and came over to our table, very personable. The bartender suggested a great wine to accompany my wife’s meal. The only improvement I would like to see is wait staff. Our waitress was not familiar with the menu and very young.

Oh my goodness… this place is excellent! I ordered a chicken & lamb kabob and it was absolutely delicious. The place is warm and cozy with a fireplace and friendly & efficient service. Definitely going back!

If I could give 0 stars I could. Like other reviewers here I have been driving by this place since it opened and had always wanted to stop in. I wish I had kept driving. I stopped in with a friend and was greeted by the«general manager» on his smoke break(5 feet from the front door) and told we could seat ourselves. Since the restaurant was completely empty we sat in the bar area with the Redskins game. The waitress was friendly enough… we ordered humus as an appetizer and ordered our meals. The bread served with the humus was straight from the plastic bag and into the microwave pita and the humus appeared straight from the Sabra container. Any restaurant touting themselves as «authentic cuisine» would have the proper oven to make the bread on site. 20 minutes later we asked the«general manager» for our food to go as we both had things to do and we were tired of waiting. He finally agreed after several«but it’s almost ready» objections… in a completely empty restaurant I find it unacceptable for that long a wait for food. As I went to the rest room my friend overheard the«general manager» telling the kitchen that«yeah they want it to go. They must think we’re fast food like Moby Dick»…colored with expletives. Smart, talking trash about customers within earshot of them. When I finally ate my combo I found the chicken bland and the meat dry and overcooked. The rice was soggy and undercooked… I suspect that was the holdup on our meals as everything else was overcooked. Lack of etiquette and bad management combined with tasteless and boring food made this the first and last time they will ever see my business. And a note to the«general manager»…I wish I had gone to Moby Dick, at least I know the food would be good for half the price and a quarter of the wait time. I’ll take the under on 6 months before the doors are closed on this underwhelming establishment.

I’ve like many others have been wondering what will be going in that location for months. When I saw the sign go up for Matts kabob I was excited, it offers a cuisine not available in Olney. The kibdeh is homemade and Deliscous! The bar also offers the corner bar feel with a good draught beer line up as well! I highly recommend to everyone to stop and try it and say hello to Matt the owner who is there most nights.

First off let us say WEMISSUNCLEDAVE’S. This new effort at recreating the magic is yet another«dream» of the restaurant offering within Olney, MD. I wont go on and tell you all the obvious reasons Dear Matt wont make it «a year» at his second location. Community standards are high in Olney and it crystal clear there is no true restaurant background with the new owners. They got lucky at their Rockville, MD location. Probably because their menu is cheaper and food there is hot and seasoned. Olney location is lacking direction and obviously lacking capital to have a go at it. Limited employees, always out of inventory and place doesn’t have feel of being put together. Seems like landlord is leasing out every inch of land to the trades. Not inviting to the neighborhood. Looks like a industrial setting now. make your own visit and your agree one year and he will be CLOSED. Previous restaurant Seafood on 108 lasted 3 – 4 months. Dave’s was there 8 – 9 years what happen!

I love the location and the rural atmosphere. The interior is beautiful, it’s small and quaint, just my kind of place. It looks newly remodeled, despite the rural location, it’s very modern and the employees are friendly. It is dimly lit which I like, it gives it a very cozy feel. I don’t like pretentious places so this is right up my alley. The side veggie kabob I ordered was undercooked, vastly undercooked and the cucumber salad was rotten. The falafel was delicious. The veggies were not cut to sandwich size so it fell out an I had to eat it like a salad. I took pictures of the salad since the manager told me vehemently that the salad was absolutely fresh and that it was not to my personal palate. To be fair I have mutant senses and cucumber tends to go bad right away. It’s near impossible to keep fresh.

This restaurant pales in comparison to the Rockville location. Not a warm and inviting space. The food is bland, the portions small and they don’t have the oven to cook homemade bread. This place won’t last like all of its predecessors. And who puts a kabob joint on a rural country road in the middle of nowhere?

I’d been driving by this place for months, wondering when anything was going to open in the old seafood restaurant. When I finally saw some signs going up for Matt’s Kabob, I was very excited and couldn’t wait to try it. First, this place still has some improving to do, but since it just opened I’ll give them a break. Service was a little slow and discombobulated at times. A lot of the staff is still learning the menu and getting organized. The place could use some more décor too, it was pretty sparse inside. And as another reviewer said, they need better lighting in the parking lot. Lastly, they ran out of chicken and lamb before 7PM– not good! That said, our server was very friendly and despite a little too long a wait for the food, it was quite good. I had the chenjeh kabob platter for my entrée. The meat was very tender and flavorful, and the rice well cooked. The bread was hot and fresh. Overall a good experience, and we will go back. Just hope they work out some of the early day kinks.

I SO wanted to like this place and write a wonderful review, but I’d be lying if I did. I went on a Wednesday at 6:30pm for dinner. First impression, the parking lot was very dark if you get away from the building as there are lights on poles, but they weren’t working. We stood at the hostess station(no one was there, nor did we ever see a hostess) for more than 5 minutes when an employee walked by(didn’t acknowledge us) but did return later and said we could seat ourselves(even thought the sign said«Please Wait to be Seated»). Too bad the remodel didn’t take care of the old worn tabletops(stain and polyurethane can do wonders, if you want to use older tables). Yuck. One person took our drink order and seemed to forget since we saw him look at our table, then have an expression of «oh, yea, I need to get them their drinks.» Someone else came by and took our order(didn’t introduce themselves or welcome us). The menu says the entrees come with bread, rice, and a tomato. There were three entrees ordered, but the waitress brought out one plate of small pita triangles when we asked for bread(we had to ask for a second order and none came with our meals). The waitress didn’t seem to know that bread was to come with every entrée. We waited and waited for our food. A couple that came in 15 minutes after us got their meals 10 minutes before us. When the waiter saw us looking at the people that were served before us he said our food would be out soon; no apology, no explanation, no offer to compensate us. We waited 30 minutes for 3 entrees when there were only about 3 other tables with people seated at them. The entrée portions of the chicken, spicy chicken, and lamb kabobs were small for the cost and were not hot. The rice had pats of butter(i think?) on it that never melted. gross. The tomato wasn’t cored or ripe; none of us ate our tomato. The consensus at the table was the food was okay; my meat was tough and overcooked. I believe all of these mistakes are due to a lack of training and/or management. We never did see someone that look like a manager or a person in charge. We were never asked how our food was or if we needed/wanted anything else. By the way, go to Silver Spoon Kabobs(5 minutes away on Woodfield Rd in Gaithersburg) for way better service and food at better prices.

In their soft opening phase but still a wonderful place to go for dinner and drinks. Grand opening is planned for the 21st of this month, so excited for something new in the area. Reasonable prices and service is friendly. Highly recommend the salmon although everything on the menu is great. At the bar definitely try the Armenian wine.
