Food is alright. Always slow and understaffed. 35+ minute wait for food. Better to order to go.

The food is pretty good but this place is notoriously hard to order from especially via the phone. Service is not their strong suit making it hard to be at the top of our list. Despite this I still crave their black sticky pudding and the rest of the food is just good ol normal Asian takeout food.

Favorite Thai place in town. Cheap and very nice service. Plumb specials on point. Thai iced tea very good here, but ask them to hold the ice. They definitely over fill your glass with ice

Basil Leaf is by far my favorite Thai restaurant! I get the tofu yellow curry with brown rice almost every time because I’ve never had better from anywhere else, no matter how fancy the restaurant. Basil leaf is a small, humble, family run business that I’m all too happy to support anywhere from 3 – 5 times a month.(I’m really quite an addict at this point.) Very sweet people. Their vegetable tofu soup is also very good! In response to negative reviews I’ve seen of this soup– it is NOT phở, it is «noodle soup.» To compare it to phở would be to miss out on the opportunity altogether. The owner has politely made clear the distinction for me. It is an entirely different dish, very garlicky. I eat it when I’m feeling under the weather. My roommates enjoy the tofu pad Thai and fried rice!

I ordered my food to go and waited about 15mins before heading over there to pick it up. When I got there I had to wait another 15mins before it was ready. They weren’t busy either which was confusing. When I got back to work I only had 10mins left to eat it and it was not very good at all. Not worth the wait. I got the pad thai but it tasted like the sauce was tomato based and was super thick and sticky. Maybe it’s just me but I’ve never had pad thai like that before. I wasted $ 30 and my entire lunch break. I got two orders of it for my husband and I, so I could take it home after work for him. He agreed it wasn’t very good. Then again maybe we just have never had that type of pad thai before??? Either way we did not enjoy it and it wasn’t a good experience at all. Maybe they have other good entrees but the pad thai was not one of them! Haha

Very pleasant atmosphere — good vibes, smells and decent décor for a cheap Thai place. From the list of $ 6.45 lunch specials, I ordered a bowl of phở noodles with tofu and vegetable broth, though chicken and beef are offered as well. Excellent texture on the rice noodles and flavorful broth(goes great with peanut sauce, bean sprouts and a bit of sriracha for a kick). I usually order my phở noodles with shrimp in most places, but granted this is a Thai restaurant not Vietnamese. Phở may not be their specialty, but I found it quite tasty! Quick service, good portions, VERY affordable(Evergreen students will appreciate!) Looking forward to trying other dishes!

I went here with my family, hoping to satisfy my pad thai craving. What I was served was the worst pad thai I’ve ever eaten. It didn’t even look like pad thai, and it tasted like they dumped a bottle of ketchup on a pile of day old noodles. It was awful.

No. No, thank you. I ordered the Green Curry lunch special. It wasn’t inedible, but it was akin to what a hamburger aficionado would get at a fast food chain. Fast, hot, affordable. I will not eat here again. There are other options for Thai food in my town.

The food is solid but the service is not so great. I ordered the rigatoni and my wife ordered the chicken penne. Both were delicious. Service is very casual when compared to the menu and pricing. I expect more bang for my buck.

Years ago when this place first opened, I ordered a bowl of phở. Worst phở I had in my entire life. super bland and empty in flavor. Went there the other day with my friend and it was really good! Full of flavor this time :) I guess I must’ve gone on a bad day. The fresh rolls are eh for the price. If you are trying to be cheap don’t bother with them. They’re not the worst but defiantly not worth over $ 4.

Started eating here over two years ago. Attempted to compare Basil Leaf’s Pad Thai in Canada, San Francisco, and other restraints adjacent to the 1 – 5 corridor. Nowhere has reached Basil Leaf’s. Nuff said. This is legendary Pad Thai. Every other Pad Thai I’ve had has always been so flavorless and plain. Basil Leaf has it down. You’ll be asked on spiciness: 1 – 5. Five is spicy, but I’ve orders 6 before too. Can’t beat it. Only in Olympia.

Virtually flawless Thai food, at least in my opinion. Everyone is friendly, place is clean. Can’t get enough of the rockin’ soft piano ballads they play over the speakers. I’m particularly a fan of the avocado curry and the orange chicken. Food has been consistently good every time I’ve been here.

The only way to get vegetables is to ask for the Pad See-ew. If you want vegetables on other dishes, they charge you extra, brown rice costs extra as well. They use a ton of bamboo shoots to cut costs. Food is not good for the most part. The owner was very rude to me when I asked if I was in time for their lunch special as if I should know their schedule, she was also rude to me when I asked for an extra plate or bowls for soup, expecting the customers to eat out of the same dish! Customer service was horrible. I recommend going to the other Thai on the Westside by the mall, they are pricier, but you get flavor, vegetables and service.

I order takeout from here frequently. Last time I asked for ice water In a to-go cup(along with my food and other drink) the owner said no. This time he said I could have but for $ 1.25. For tap water in a plastic cup. RIDICULOUS. Totally turns me off to this place.

Coming from the Bay Area, I am probably spoiled by the plethora of quality Asian restaurants. Whenever I look up Unilocal reviews in other areas, I always find it to not match my experience as people rate them super high. We came in to a quite empty restaurant which didn’t look like it offered much. Service was genial and quick. We were offered water. The pricing was also very affordable but the food didn’t quite meet out expectations. Fresh roll: quite standard however I felt like the filling was mostly vercimilli so it needed more meat and shrimp. The peanut Dipping sauce was bomb though Pad thai: big portions but it was overly sweet for my taste. It’s really hard to screw up pad thai so it was okay. Red curry: this is where they failed. I’ve had my fair share of thai food so I know what proper red curry taste like. This one… Hmm. It had an overly spicy kick yet lacking in depths of flavor. The broth had a weird overpowerin coconut milk. There was so other flavor in the curry sauce. Portion wise it was okay. Overall mediocre experience but the cheap price makes up for it.

I had dinner here today with my boyfriend and a friend. Their food is amazing. We had the cashew chicken, chicken satay, pad Thai, and pineapple fried brown rice. I would suggest to get two for the spiciness because three is really spicy. I will be coming back soon. If you are in Olympia, and you have a taste for Thai, I suggest you go to Basil Leaf.

Delicious food in an unassuming mini mall! The Pad Thai was flavorful and very tasty. My wife had crab wan tons and thought they were fantastic. Plain décor and very basic but well worth a visit.

Validated. Definitely the top two Thai place /food ever. I traveled to and through every state except Maine and this is the top two Thai food I ever eaten. Pad Thai and cashew dish. Wow. Perfectly prepared, just right amount of spice and incredible consistency. Service is not bad. It is a family owned Resturant and not a five star hotel. People’s expectations on service must be off the charts because these people were very friendly. I do see how other Unilocalers could complain about the service. I can see that if it gets busy then they might have problems but the food is worth it. Now this place is my favorite Thai in the northwest. I have travel to Texas for my other favorite Thai place. Definitely happy.

This is probably one of the best places for Thai food in the south sound. That being said, every time I order something with a special request(i.e., no ice because it’s freaking 50 degrees outside) they always manage to mess up/blatantly ignore my request. I asked for no bean sprouts because they upset my stomach and it looked like they added extra bean sprouts. There are a few dishes that they may want to strike from the menu. The thai bbq chicken is dry and tastes like it was rolled around in 5 spice. Pad khee mao was super sweet and soy based — I thought they accidentally brought me pad see ew. The lunch specials are actually an amazing deal at $ 8 a pop and each combo comes with an order of pad thai. Pretty sweet deal! Parking is pretty easy on the street and there’s also a strip mall around the corner that you can probably park in. I’ve never had a problem finding parking, though.
