Called a few days before going there and spoke with a pleasant gentleman on the phone. Figured this was the place to get what I needed at a reasonable price… THEN I WENTTHERE to get the pads I was after and ran into a VERYRUDE woman. Left without making a purchase and am currently looking for anyplace else to purchase the padding.

I went in a few months ago to see about making my own foam mattress. A guy that worked there was fabulous — said he made a mattress there for himself and that lots of people come in and do the same. I have a limited budget, so was a little bit embarrassed about this venture. However, this guy went above and beyond to help me, and gave me a very detailed estimate on several different ways to make a mattress. He helped me for an hour or more, and in the end also helped get the thing into my car, which was almost to small to fit it into. Very kind, very professional. Definitely a hidden gem !

I don’t know if the lady that works there is terminally pissed or had something stuck up her butt the day I was in. The young man that works there was helpful but I sure wouldn’t work with, for or around her.

Prices are nice, but limited quantity of fabrics, owner? Not very friendly. Been here twice and came out unhappy with my experience both times. Gave 2 stars cause prices are ok and nice selection of foam

I would have given 5 stars, the only drawback I noticed is that the fabric is in limited supply here. A pretty good choice of fabric, and really nice folks. You’d probably want to remember that if you’ve got a bigger project, select enough fabric to do the whole project as «what they have is, what they have». You can rest assured that they do a great job here. I’ve had quite a few boat cushions made here and the quality is very good, Everyone I’ve talked to about this business, recommends it!

In this economy where prices for basic things soar every single day, it is great to find this little gem of a shop so close to home. It is indeed easy to miss but will it help if I say that coming from Sleater Kinney, it is almost across the street to where IHOP is? This is where upholsterers in the area go to for discount fabrics. They offer mostly upholstery grade fabrics which can be bought for about $ 5−15+ range, and I’m telling you people, that is cheap. Their selection isn’t as extensive and modern as Jo-Ann’s but they do have some hidden gems that are really good. I bought an upholstery grade fabric that had already been ScothGuard-ed and I got it for $ 7/yard. Similar fabric at another store would run me 3 – 5 times price-wise. Such a great deal! I also got some upholstery trim. Jay is the name of the fella who helped us during our visits. He’s usually working on something at the back of the shop. He is great at providing info about foam products that they offer and even directed us to the back area of the shop for more fabric selections. They also offer a wide selection of automobile and marine grade fabrics(which I thought were great). He is friendly and would let you roam on your own and check back with you every now and then. He will entertain questions about the items in their shop. I prefer being left alone while shopping so major points to this guy! :-) Why I held back one star: First, the shop is old. So the fabric there retained the musty old-shop smell. If you plan to launder your fabric prior to working on then then you’d be okay. I aired out my fabric and left it in the sun for good measure and that did the trick for me. Otherwise, this shop is highly recommended!

The finding of the place is a quest in itself. I’ve been there before while a friend was driving, and I still missed it the first time I attempted the visit by myself. It is on the same side of the street, and just to the left of, California Nails and Interstate Batteries. It looks like a gray silo with green accents, set on top of a little hill. I’d go here if I were looking for any upholstery, especially for my car. They have a fair selection of upholstery($ 10/yd) for car floor mats, and a few for seats. If I were redoing my seats they have this awesome material, which I noticed in each purple and gold, that feels like soft velveteen car seats but has a superfunky wave pattern in it($ 15/yd). Add a mohair steering wheel and some fuzzy dice and it would make mine the pimpest Civic ever. If you like patterns but not texture, I’d suggest having a look at their shelf of animal prints, nicely grouped together for easy comparison. They have that cushiony stuff that goes under carpeting, a few types of neoprene, and good prices on burlap(I think it was around $ 1.50/yd), and a whole wall of different naugahyde and vinyl-type materials. They have a bogglingly large assortment of tapestry fabric, and lots of interesting fringes for adding that special pizazz to your pillow or bedspread. They sell ready-made pet beds, and of course the standard foam blocks and wedges, and loose foam filling. For standard home ec stuff, I prefer Jo-Ann Fabrics’ selection and prices, but if I had needs related to cars, cushions, or burlap, I’d definitely come back here.
