Pretty mediocre food. Was not impressed by any breakfast food. Tried to go back, they didn’t take their open sign off but when I went to walk in, they were closed. Even though they said they were open

Food great– location crappy, and dirty. The food is fabulous. Totally, but the location swamped the bottom barrel Olympia scened street crew outside leaving needles and garbage on the streets is enough to avoid. It’s a shame our city’s streets are deterring the actual locations food.

GF buns, big ass cold sammies including BLTs, tatter tots and mint apple for side options, enough said. Fun atmosphere and pleasant staff.

It seems that the requirements to work here are to smell bad and smoke a bowl before your shift. The food on the other hand is amazing!

AMAZING food. Dodgy location with dodgy characters inside. One transient was at the diner bar and staring out the door at entrants with a beard covered in mashed potatoes or gravy or something. Recommend to-go option. Staff was very cool.

What can I say? This place is fantastic — great food & friendly staff. We love coming here especially for breakfast. The only bad thing is there’s typically a line out the door at peak breakfast time.

Great little diner. Food could use a bit more seasoning, but overall is solid. Reasonably priced and freshly prepared, and they make their own fried chicken.

You guys are pretty awesome to provide a place where people can go after hours to get some food! Yes, the place is a bit on the divey side but that just made me feel more comfortable and accepted after bar hopping all night. The pours are good and the food is okay overall but hey, it’s available! The place is pretty straight forward and seating is abundant in the bar side. The restaurant side seemed a bit crowded with younger people so I avoided it as much as I could. Great place to end up before heading back to the hotel!

Do not judge a book by it’s cover!!! Loved the food and our waiter. I feel bad that I did not get our waiters name, but he was great. I went to Olympia for breakfast this morning, looking for a place I hadn’t eaten in about 5 years, but it was no longer there, so i had to find something else. I parked on 4th ave and wasnt sure where to go, so I asked a few locals and concensus was The Reef, or King Solomon’s Reef. From the looks outside, I wasn’t sure about it, but from experience I know not to judge a restaurant by its entrance. Walked in and it was crowded, they told me to sit where I like. The staff and atmosphere was very ecclectic and was a little different, but of no concern to me when I’m hungry. Ordered eggs benedict w/o ham, substitue avacado and tomatoe. It was awesome, the hollandaise sauce was great. Also tried the meat omelette which really good, had fresh green peppers, cheese, homemade sausage, ham and crispy bacon, yum, yum yum. The only thing I wish is the cook would pay a little more attention to the hashbrowns, because well done doesn’t mean burnt. Even though they were busy, it took about 20 – 25 mnutes to get our food and it was fresh and hot. Thanks guys for a pleasant surprise and kudos to our waiter. Will definitley be back. Obtw, prices are excellent.

Let me start off with the staff. They are sooo nice! So attentive. They were truly great. The cleanliness of the restaurant was of the level of a dive/diner. The bathroom is a very small little one seater. Now for the food… To be absolutely honest, I won’t be going back anytime soon. Everything was bland and ordinary. We ordered the nachos and they were less than average. They had large clumps of onions which were burning our mouths. Some of the cheese wasn’t melted and quite frankly I’ve made 100x better nachos than these at home when I wasn’t even trying. Next I had the Monte Carlo and my husband had the fried chicken sandwich. Both mediocre and very below par. My daughter had the kids chicken strips. They came on a kids lunch trey, which I thought was cool, but it looked like it was missing everything. Just a hand full of fries(acceptable) and two itsy bitsy chicken strips(unacceptable). The side salad got was missing something too. Apart from the food, I can’t go back Bc there’s too many bums hanging out around this area. They hang out right in front of restaurants as if people aren’t going to go in. Then all the college students smoking and being loud. Lets not forget about how hard it is to find parking. It’s just not the laid back feel I like an area to have. But like I said above. the staff were great! :)

Amazing food! Amazing atmosphere! Amazing server(Lyle)! I ordered the chicken fried steak strips! They were amazing. They were served with country sausage gravy enough to cover both strips and fries. Service was fast and the server was very friendly and payed just enough attention to me! This place is highly recommended. I know I will be back. Note though from the name and the outside it sound like a fish place. Nope lots of chicken here!

Being, to my knowledge, the only diner open past bar time in the downtown Olympia area often attracts an undesirable crowd. Loud, obnoxious drunks congregate inside while panhandlers and street kids try to bum cigarettes outside. Junkies attempt to sneak into the bathroom, and weirdos play the same song on the jukebox over and over again. Thank you, Reef staff, for remaining professional and friendly even to my drunk and disorderly ass. You are in the alcohol-soaked trenches of a late-night dining great war, and you get awesome food to terrible people at reasonable prices. You are true heroes, worthy of song. Or at least a Unilocal review. The Reef is the heart and soul of downtown Olympia. 17.489 stars.

If your looking for an American, divey, deliciously tasty place open to the wee hours of the night this is the place. The staff was super nice and hip. The food came out quickly with nice portions. We did not order a shake but because everyone else had one I am sure the are fantastic. The other bonus is that there is a full bar, they are kid friendly and open tell 3am. My partner ordered the fried chicken sandwich. She looked at her plate and said how can I finish THIS? She cleaned her plate LOL. I had the meaty omelet and the kiddos had the waffles with strawberries and whip cream. I will be coming back and will be bringing my friends.

If anybody ever has a single complaint about the Reef they’re an ignorant fool. There are some reviews on here by privileged young american kids who sound like they’ve never had to wait for a ****ing meal before, let alone suffer/toil for a day in their spoiled lives. Let’s talk about how they’re open for 19 hours a day. Let’s talk about the ludicrously large portions of ridiculous comfort foods served at more than reasonable prices. Let’s talk about how stiff their drinks are. Let’s talk about the infinite number of coffee refills and that the coffee served is from OCR, objectively the *best* roaster in Olympia. Let’s talk about the dedicated *family* of staff that endlessly bust their humps for copiously long shifts serving the best and *worst* patrons Olympia has to offer, risking every kind of hepatitis cleaning those restrooms, getting tipped chump change by ***holes and putting up with the street-people freakouts/screaming kids/mumbling idiots stumbling in after the bars close. The staff are the ****ing Justice League, y’all. And they keep that place ****ing spotless, kitchen included. I’m vegan and unfortunately live with legitimate celiac disease so I just get coffee, vegan chili and salad w/house-made balsamic. Occasionally I’ll get the large order of fries because they’re crisp and unusually delicious and are maybe like a pound or more of food. I like to escape the world and inhabit a diner as much as(a lot more than) the average person and the Reef kicks the butt of every greasy spoon joint of which I’ve been a patron.

This is my favorite spot in Olympia for a few reasons: 1. Happy hour is killer. $ 3 wells and I have yet to find a gin and tonic more stiff than the ones I get here. 2. The food is ALL incredible. I have a super hard time deciding what to order because there is nothing I do not LOVE. The chicken and waffles here are my favorite! Also the pies remind me of my grandma’s(shhhh. don’t tell her I said that). 3. Fast service, and my coffee mug always stays full. The only reason they do not get all five stars is because they do not offer egg whites. I have been told the reason for this is because they get their whole eggs locally and refuse to waste the yolk. That’s all good with me, it just means I can only eat here for my cheat meals.

This is a great place to go if you are looking for cheap diner food, or late at night a place to hang out and get a drink. Good and basic. Its a great dive bar, if that is what you are looking for. Its a real Oly landmark, so if you are looking for that authentic Oly experience, definitely come here!

Friendly staff, amazing food, huge portions, quick service, lots of variety and decent prices? I just fell in love with a diner. This is where skinny dies. Cheat meals all day, everyday. Visited this place with a friend and we couldn’t decide what to eat so we literally ordered a little bit of everything. Every bite was amazing. Crispy when needed, just the right temperature, juicy, sweet, salty, crunchy… Foodgasm. Seriously… That’s all you need to know. Just eat here. Eat here now. Now. You’re welcome. :)

Huge plates, awesome sandwiches and burgers and lots of character in the dining room. Whether you’re looking for a full meal or winding down from a night of fun and drinks, this diner serves consistently good food that’s sure to hit the spot. Lots of fried, lots of cheese, lots of buttery goodness. After a girls’ night out, we ended up here drinking milk shakes and eating chili cheese fries — awesome! Recently, my BF and I ended up here for lunch the other day. I had their french dip sandwich with chili cheese tater tots — soft bread, lots of thinly sliced meat with yummy melted cheese, all on top of a huge pile of tots covered in cheese and chili. I couldn’t finish it all! BF had their burger and fries and as good as my plate was, I still experienced a little order envy. And everything was very reasonably priced when you look at the portions you get. The only drawback is that service is not the fastest but when the servers do come by, they are attentive, informative, friendly and nice. May take a little bit to track them down or get them to your table. Also, the bathroom wasn’t the cleanest but it wasn’t despicable either. King Solomon’s feels like a staple in the area — a diner worth stopping into.
