Sunny outdoor patio was a great find for our impromptu lunch. Staff was working fast to make sure we were comfortable. Nigiri, tempura and ramen were all delicious. My absolute favorite was the Citrus Salmon & Avocado roll … it was amazing! Wish I could find it near home.

Terrible service. Manager was clueless as to the wait list. Waited for 1.5 hours, got skipped in the queue, and called us to let us know if we wanted our table after we were seated by the hostess. As far as food goes it was pretty good. Mama balls, black cod, and Kalbi fries were good. Not sure if it was worth the wait.

Great happy hour and the staff was great too. I stuck with the hand rolls, but apparently mama’s balls are pretty good too. That and the $ 1.50 upgrade to draft beer or Sake.

I love sushi so I was excited to get a seat here since the place was super packed but In the end I was served the saddest sushi roll I have ever had in my life. Colorless, no sauce, hardly a handful of pieces and just overall plain and effortless. Really not worth the price they are charging. You shouldve seen my face when they handed over my plate after a very long wait. Place was also very crowded and loud, seats are all so close together and you have to raise your voice so the person in front of you can hear you. I actually did like their miso soup but it was also such a small serving for what Im paying. I also ordered some mochi ice cream but the server just totally forgot about that and I just did not inquire because I wanted to get out of there.

Disappointing. Definitely skeptical eating Japanese food in Squaw Valley, but we decided to give it a shot. The prices were pretty high for what we were served. My one advice is to avoid sushi, but then again there was nothing else that was appetizing during our meal at Mamasake. We ordered the Kalbi Fries, Miso Black Cod with Ramen, Fried Rice, Shrimp Tempura Roll, and the Ramen with Peanut Sauce. I cannot express how little flavor there was in all of these dishes. The Kalbi Fries were the best thing I ate at that sitting and I think that says a lot about this Japanese restaurant. Go for other restaurants at the Village and avoid Mamasake.

We had tempura, fried rice and Mamazilla roll: everything was good. We went for lunch and the place was not particularly crowed and the service had been swift.

Terrible sushi, overpriced but that’s expected being in squaw, we got one if the chef’s boards and only one out of the 5 rolls had any flavor. Everything else was really bland. Really disappointed. :(

Beer and a handroll special? Okay! Great views and nice seating outside when weather permits. Daily specials and non sushi items for those who aren’t into sushi. Try the mommas balls too, you will not be disappointed. Definitely worth checking out if you’re in the village. Like any resprt restaurant, it can get busy during holidays and weekends, but it’s worth it!

Wow! Fantastic fusion menu. We ate here three times in one weekend and tried several rolls and appetizers, as well as salads. Everything was delicious.

My favorite squaw bartender serving us with grace and professionalism as always. I never have a bad time here. Food is always good. And the connections i make here are even better. Best thing to order: mamas basically insane, mamas balls and the kale salad are my top three favorites.

Always amazingly delicious! There is not a single item on the menu that isn’t good. It’s easily the best restaurant in the village! You can’t go wrong.

This place was pretty disappointing. We came in on a Wednesday afternoon, there was only one other person there. The waitresses were not very attentive. Anytime we wanted something we had to call the servers over. Bad service is worth overlooking if the food is great, but it wasn’t. As an appetizer we ordered Kalbi fries. They were okay. The kalbi meat had decent flavor, but it was incredibly salty. We couldn’t finish them because they were way too salty. My mother ordered the Kalbi lettuce wraps and experienced the same thing, the meat was way too salty. She couldn’t even get through half of her plate. I ordered the Chicken Teriyaki bowl. The chicken was pretty dry, and it wasn’t marinated. My guess is they just microwave the chicken, put it on a bowl of rice and dump some mediocre teriyaki sauce on top. There wasn’t much flavor to it, it was kind of bland. My wife ordered one of the rolls. She said it was just okay and that you can get better store bought sushi. She said that it didn’t seem very fresh at all. The portion size for all of our food was smaller than we thought we would get. With how much it costs we got maybe ½ to ¾ the amount we thought we would get. It was okay though, because we didn’t end up finishing most of it anyway. If you are craving some Asian food and don’t want to leave the village, then this is your only option. My guess is that you’ll leave hungry, disappointed wishing you had eaten somewhere else.

Was seated right away for dinner on a Saturday night! We ordered the steak lettuce wraps and 3 rolls. Food came out pretty fast… we were starving after the Jazz and brew festival! Our favorite roll was the NorCal: brown rice and that spicy pink mayo was delicious! Thank you for great service and yummy food.

Food is not too bad, miso soup is way too salty and the waitresses are horrible! I have to flag then down each time I need something, they never check with us after we get our food, never refilled water, one waitress has the sourest look on her face the entire time. This is the 2nd time we’ve been here in 2 years and nothing changes. We won’t be back.

Crappy overpriced sushi. Very strange rolls, I think they add lemon slices and cilantro because the fish is bad. Save your money there are better places in Tahoe. It was honestly more like Mexican/Sushi fusion. 2 stars only because the service and location are good.

This place in the Squaw valley village. I thought this place deserved at least a 4 star… This was way cuter than how it looked on Unilocal.I can’t really say anything about the food because this is like the only sushi place in lake Tahoe resort. what do you expect? We ordered the chef’s choice of sashimi platter, 2 sushi rolls, edamame, miso soup and coconut sake. Coconut sake was yummy! It warmed us up a little since there was a lot of snow during the weekend in Tahoe. Rolls were actually pretty good too. Sashimi… I’d say just pass it because it was just 3 different types of small sashimi pieces… Service was great. We ordered the salted caramel icecream and Mochi. The server brought us wrong flavors so she replaced it promptly. Overall, a decent place in Tahoe :) Cute place to take your date!

This is my favorite place to eat at Squaw Village after a day on the slopes. They have an insane happy hour from 3:00 — 5:00 p.m. — $ 5 for a sushi hand roll or Mama’s Balls and a can of beer. You can upgrade it to a draft beer for a bit more. The things I’ve eaten and LOVED are: KOREANKALBIRIBWRAPS $ 13 Marinated short rib meat, grilled, with rice, black garlic, fresno peppers and scallions in butter leaf lettuce cups 13.00 MAMA’S BALLS $ 15 Mixture of kani kama, tofu, shrimp, tuna in inari pockets, tempura, cilantro oil, sriracha, chives Their sushi is all pretty good too. Service is down to earth, friendly and attentive. Definitely recommend if you are in Squaw Village!

On a beautiful winter’s day we sat outside. The tea was good. My child finished the chicken teriyaki bowl and then tried sake nigiri for the first time and just loved it. I had the Mamazilla, quite tasty. My hubby had the Rib Wraps, which wasn’t quite enough for him, so he ordered some nigiri. The miso soup was a bit salty for my taste and bonus had mushrooms. If we come back to Squaw, I would not hesitate to return.

For my birthday, my guy wanted to take me to Squaw Valley for sushi. Although I checked the Unilocal reviews, I trust my guy’s choice and was excited to try it. I’ve never been to a ski resort in the off season, kind of seems odd but it wasn’t. The area is really beautiful and they have so many vacation resort rentals up there — the restaurants in the village are open too. I like to sit up close and watch the sushi coming out, so we sat at the sushi bar. My guy let me order for us, anything I wanted. First up, I ordered a bottle of sake to celebrate another birthday and our romantic vacation together. He ordered a Kirin as well. We ordered the: *Mama’s Basically Insane. Hamachi, avocado, and serranos top a roll with albacore, cilantro, and cucumber, sauced with ponzu, togarashi, and sesame oil. Really really good! *Crabby Tuna. Dungeness crab salad, avocado, tuna, lemon, shiso leaf on the outside, two sauces. Delicious! Nice big roll. *Snow Crab. Because I absolutely love snow crab and it was my birthday! * Uzura Ikura. Combination of two of some my favorite sushi toppings, salmon roe and raw quail egg. It may seem weird, but I love it. I had a wonderful birthday lunch with my very thoughtful guy. He knows what I like and brought me to a great place. We both enjoyed the food very much. I’m glad we decided to come here instead of being put off by any negative reviews. Everything was so good and great flavors, quality. The sushi chef and waitress were very friendly. I would definitely come back to try more.
