This is our new Mexican dinner restaurant. My wife loves the shrimp enchiladas and bacon wrapped shrimp. I like the combo burritos and beef enchiladas. I thought their tamales and tacos were very average and a b it bland. But once you find a dish you like on the expansive menu, you’re set. Part of the fun is trying different dishes. The sauce that comes with dinner chips is hot and is good to spice up your dinner. Everything comes quick and hot(watch put for the microwaved plates). The fried ice cream wasn’t my favorite as other places do this better. My wife, daughter, and son in law liked the margaritas, too. A good family place.

Good food nice atmosphere. The cheesy dip was good but the desert was even better! I ya the bean dip for the chips was something unique(at least for me)

The outside of the building looks simple, the inside is mirrors: simple. The food is excellent. Not a prepackaged crap. Real food. Move over Margarita’s, you have some competition.

What a nice surprise. We have lived relatively close and have driven past this restaurant for years and never knew it was there. My wife, two girls and I decided to give Azteca a try. Once seated we were greeted almost immediately. The brought out tortilla chips, a thin and spicy salsa, bean dip and a slaw all complimentary. I had the 3 chicken enchilada combo meal, my wife had a enchilada taco mini combination and my two girls had kids meals. All for about 3 $ 32.00 including the tip. The food came out lightning fast… surprising fast which we were grateful enchiladas came with rice and beans and all was very good. The chicken in the enchiladas appeared to be all white meat and I used their thin salsa to add a little spicy heat. If anything their salas was too spicy for my wife and two girls but I loved it. Our waitress was very nice and accommodating. Very helpful. This restaurant was a nice surprise. As for Mexican meals go it will now be our go to spot as they provide good meals and reasonable prices and fast. A for sure go to spot.

I ordered a taco salad with chicken. You know how a taco salad usually has a lot of things in it? Maybe beans on the bottom, cheese, salsa, beef or chicken, lettuce, maybe some more cheese, tomato,… Etc. This taco salad had the taco shell bowl, some plain cut up chicken in the bottom, just dry with no seasoning or anything, and some shredded lettuce on top. That was the whole thing. Dry cut up chicken, and some shredded lettuce. There was some sour cream and some guacamole on the side of the plate, but it was minimal, and couldn’t dress the salad. I asked for some salsa, because something had to help the dry chicken that I was eating, and the waiter promptly brought me a bowl of some runny red sauce. I don’t think you could really call it salsa. I know they are advertised as a family restaurant, but the place was a mess. There were chips all over the floor. ALL over the floor! I don’t think just because you’re a family restaurant, that you should not tidy up after a family leaves a table. Two items to note, however, that I thought were very nice. First, they bring a picture of water to your table and glasses with ice. Maybe that’s so they don’t have to keep returning to fill you up, but I appreciated it because I drink a lot of water, and hardly any restaurants can keep up with my refills. Secondly, unexpectedly at the end of our meal, the waiter shows up with a refreshing little dessert. Cinnamon sugar tortilla chips, one for each of us, with a dollop of whipped cream on top, and drizzled with strawberry sauce. It was perfect. It didn’t require any utensils, no special plates, it was complementary, and it was delicious. But I couldn’t make up for the dreadful taco salad, I’m afraid.

They shove you to a table and make you wait forever. The chips and salsa are ok but it is just a little bowl of runny red sauce not salsa. They try to take your other chip bowl away when you are eating. The portions are like 2 tablespoons of beans. They speak horrible English. My order was messed up. They checked in too much and were rushing my non needed items off of the table(I like my things all on the table unless I ask). The guac was like mystery sauce no good at all. They put cheese all over when I said NOCHEESE! The place is like a dive. Needs a total makeover. I will NOT return.

We have been to this place several times and have always had great food and service. Today we tried the Chili Colorado and Chili Verde burrito. both were amazing!

The Omaha search for our family Mexican«go to» place continued to Azteca recently, with my wife and I giving it a shot for a lunch date. After reading the reviews and getting an endorsement from a colleague whose wife is from Texas, I had high hopes for the experience. Upon being seated, we were brought a basket of chips with a bean dip of some sort, some salsa, and a unique dish that I could only describe as Mexican coleslaw. It was all good and the chips were fresh. The one thing that caught my eye was that chip and dip refills were $ 3 and as it turns out, a basket of chips alone is an additional $ 1.25. I know $ 1.25 is a small amount of money but something about that has always rubbed me the wrong way. Call me cheap if you will. But, it’s not a deal breaker. I ordered a dish called pollo fundido, which was chicken, vegetables and cheese served on a bed of rice. The dish was good but it had broccoli in it. Listen, I am a Mexican food junkie and have eaten Mexican food all over the country and I have NEVER had broccoli in a Mexican food dish. It just isn’t right. I like broccoli but not in my Mexican food. My wife had two crispy chicken tacos with rice and beans. I don’t know if they let the tacos sit under the heat lamp or what happened but by the time they came to our table the taco shells were no longer crispy. The chicken was great but the mushy shells were a big no go for my wife. I think she’d try it again but we will make sure they know to bring them out hot and crispy. They do bring out some«sopapillas» to your table after the meal. Let’s be clear here, these are NOT sopapillas. Repeat, NOT sopapillas. Sopapillas are fried dough, more like a donut. These are fried flour tortillas with some cinnamon and sugar thrown on them. If you enjoy them great but it’s almost offensive to call these sopapillas. Our server was OK. She wasn’t great and certainly not very friendly but I wouldn’t call the service bad. Overall, this is average Mexican food, in my opinion. Probably fits into that Tex Mex category, which we love if done right, but this wasn’t right enough for us. I don’t know if I would go back but even if we do, it won’t be that«go to» place. We haven’t found that yet, thus the search continues.

Fantastic food and ridiculously low prices! Don’t let the simple appearance of the restaurant or the cost of food deter you, Azteca has some of THE best Mexican food in the Metro!

My first time to Azteca. I came here alone, as I am traveling for business and it was a convenient food choice located near the hotel at which I am staying. Arrived around 2pm on a Thursday, and there were several cars in the parking lot(which I consider a good sign!) I did have a bit of a hard time determining where the entrance was, as it wasn’t clearly marked. And once I did enter, I was still a bit unsure that I had come in the right door. A recommendation would be to have an expert come in to help the owners/staff on how to incorporate a visually welcoming aesthetic, and carry that through with a few updates for a better atmosphere. Updated signage, interiors, and perhaps a walkway to the hotel. The tables were clean, the music was at an appropriate volume, and temperature of the restaurant was just right. I was seated promptly, brought water, chips, dips(which were fresh and tasty), and a small dish of a type of slaw(which I personally didn’t care for even though I do like slaw). The waitstaff was friendly and bilingual. They appear to work as a team, and seem to do this well. They gave me ample time to decide(they did check back a couple of times) and I decided on an avocado tostada(a new choice for me). … Side note, I enjoy pictures of food and prepared dishes and it would’ve made my choices easier if menus or table advertisements with more pictures were more prevalent. Anyway, my food was good, and prepared and delivered so quickly I was almost caught off guard. As I was ordering, the server pointed out an alternate choice… Same dish, extra food and side for same price.(I SO appreciate this in a server!) I was checked on not too little, not too much, but with just the right frequency. They also brought a complimentary dessert chip with whipped topping and berry sauce. Needless to say, it was an incredible value, and I couldn’t quite finish my meal. Very satisfied. Thank you for your good work!

Had the pollo fundido. It was so delicious! Used Unilocal to find this place. It is a little off the beaten path but worth it. The décor is typical middle America restaurant fare, but don’t let that detract you. The margaritas are pre made and not the best. However you get a sopaipilla at the end.

As a displaced Texan living in Lincoln, I’ve been in search of great Mexican or TexMex, and I feel like I’ve finally found it. Not only does this place meet my needs(albeit a bit of a drive from Lincoln), but it’s straight up great food. Wonderfully seasoned fajitas — both steak and chicken — and great queso. We’ll probably go every time we head up to Omaha.

So I tried this place late last week and I have to agree with many of the other reviews. I think it’s great! On the evening I went, it was pretty busy in there but I was quickly greeted and seated. they had my drink order, chips, salsa and bean dip out to me within a couple minutes. I ordered a shrimp burrito with a green chili sauce on top and it was delicious! The dish game with the rice and the beans and were also pretty tasty. The burrito was huge, and I was more than full by the time I finished. They did bring out the signature tortilla chip with the whip cream and raspberry sauce, and somehow I forced myself to eat that too :-) The building inside and out certainly could use some cosmetic improvements. Especially the beat up torn carpeted floor inside, but overall it’s a pretty decent place complete with friendly, and hard-working staff. I will be back!

I went there with a group of friends and we were well greeted and our chips and salsa came at the right moment. Our experience was very good. We had 3 people place orders of Chile Colorado and I got a Tamales platter. Then our host told us that they are running out of chile colorado and they have only enough for two people so my friend got the Azor Con Pollo. The tamales shell tasted really great but there was hardly any sauce on mine and the meat inside tasted very bland with no flavors, felt like it just had salt and nothing else. Then I tasted the Chile Colorado from the neighboring plates, before that I should say, the portions were really split between two plates. You can very well tell they didn’t have enough for even 2 people… They split the meat and threw in a lot of sauce to camouflage the lack of meat. I’ve eaten Chile Colorado here and also many other restaurants and this is probably the most runniest dish i’ve every eaten. The Azor con Pollo was good but was more towards the sweeter side flavor wise, something uncommon for a mexican dish. The rice and the bean dip they gave us was really really good. Probably the best i’ve eaten so far. I may come back alone but none of my friends really like the flavor, the place for some reason lacked the flavor that mexican cuisine provides.

No frills Mexican restaurant. What I love is that they try their own chips, make their own sauces, and are remarkably reasonably priced. I had the arroz con pollo and my boyfriend had an enchilada burrito combo. Both were delicious, and we will be back for more. The place is a bit rundown but the food more than makes up for it. I can’t speak to the quality of the margaritas because I didn’t try one on our first visit but I will next time we go!

Came here on Valentine’s Day! Excellent food and service. Authentic Mexican. The complimentary chips and salsa, bean dip, and coleslaw is spot on. The drink menu is also delightful with lots of variety for margaritas, etc. You will not regret stopping here for your lunch or dinner!

This is an example of how looks can be deceiving. I drive by this place every day on my way to and from work and have never been motivated to try it. It appears very run down from the outside and is next to a fairly industrial area. However, my husband and I were looking for a new restaurant to try and, despite my skepticism, we decided to give Azteca a shot based on the many good reviews. I am really glad we did because the food was incredible. The inside of the restaurant is actually pretty consistent with the outside. Probably my biggest complaint about this restaurant is that it needs a major cosmetic overhaul. The carpet, walls, and booth are all really shabby and dingy. They did have one wall that was covered in glitter and celestial decorations which, while really cool looking, was also super random. Now on to what really matters: the food and drink. To drink, I ordered their margarita and my husband ordered the piña colada(he has a thing for«chick drinks»). The margarita was good but the piña colada was really good. The waitress spoke English well enough that she was able to effectively take our order, but she was unable to answer questions we had about the menu. We were feeling adventurous so we didn’t really care, but I know this bothers some people. The service was overall good. We waited an appropriate time for drinks, our food, and the check and our waitress checked in on us several times throughout the meal. They serve complimentary chips, salsa, bean dip, and shredded cabbage. Cabbage is not something that is usually served with chips and dip but it made an awesome addition. The bean dip was very good and the salsa was a little on the spicy side. I found that if you mixed all three it cut down on the heat of the salsa and created a great combination of flavors and textures. For our entrees, my husband went with the Steak Chicana(sirloin strips sautéed in a Mexican tomato sauce and served with tortillas) and I went with the Chicken En Mole(skinless chicken thighs in a sweet and spicy peanut butter sauce with a hint of chocolate and served with tortillas). I felt like I was really taking a risk based on the description of the Chicken En Mole(peanut butter and chocolate sauce are not generally what I think of when I think of good Mexican food) but my curiosity won out. I figured it was either going to be crazy delicious or absolutely disgusting. Luckily it was crazy delicious. The flavor is hard to describe but it is one of those dishes where the flavor combinations are spot on and it was savory, sweet, and spicy all at the same time. I would highly recommend this dish as it is truly one of a kind. Both dishes are served with your choice of flour or corn tortillas which are served in little warmers. I went with the corn, which were good, and my husband went with the flour, which were a bit stale. For dessert, they serve complimentary one-chip sopapillas, which consist of a cinnamon-sugar tortilla chip drizzled with strawberry sauce and topped with whipped cream. It was the perfect way to end the meal. Our total with tip was right around $ 40 for two alcoholic drinks and two entrees, which really isn’t a bad price. Azteca just became our new go-to Mexican restaurant.

If you’re hungry don’t order a $ 7.95 combo plate. The size of the enchilada is miniature. Look at the picture. See, it’s itty bitty. The shell for the tostada was a soft, soggy corn shell topped with mediocre tasting chicken, shredded lettuce, cheese, & tomato. It was so bad I passed it on for Seth to eat since he was still hungry from his combo. Speaking of. Seth’s chicken burrito was also miniature. It was the exact same size $ 1 bean burrito from Taco Bell. At least at T Bell the bean burrito comes with cheese & red sauce. This chicken burrito was just chicken; no cheese, no sauce, no rice, no beans, etc. That’s not a burrito. The hard shell ground beef taco was dripping heavily with grease. Not good. Rice with the combos was unavailable so they decided to replace it with salad. Shredded lettuce, cheese, & a slice of tomato is not a salad, but thanks for trying. The pros: Free chips with salsa, beans, & coleslaw Free dessert Cons: Combination plates No guacamole with combo plates No sour cream with combo plates We’re staying at the nearby Marriott & our choices for food were Azteca, Cracker Barrel, & McDonald’s. Maybe we should’ve gone to Cracker Barrel? Right now I just wish we would’ve skipped dinner.

They fry their chips themselves which I love. Their salsa has a decent kick to it which I also like. So, for complimentary chips and salsa, they’re darn good. You also get complimentary bean dip too. I ordered the Chile Colorado. It’s pretty tasty, but the beef has a sort of pot roast taste to it. Perhaps they need to simmer it in the red chili a little longer so it takes on more of that flavor. Beans are good. I never eat the rice at any Mexican restaurant, so I couldn’t tell you how it tastes. Overall, it’s a good dish, but I may try something else next time. Restaurant is clean but a little rundown. You can tell it use to be some sort of café/diner before it became a Mexican restaurant. Ceiling tiles have water stains, booth upholstery is torn, etc. Service is very attentive and friendly.
