Okay, I’m coming out here with a confession. Ed and I used to work together doing computers. Plus, I set up Ed’s website when he retired. That being said, Ed and his wife are fantastic cooks. You have got to try the teriyaki wings and egg rolls. beyond the wonderful smoked brisket. His baked beans are another delight, and his mac and cheese is another favorite of mine. He has plenty of sauces for flavoring as well. I consider this the best BBQ restaurant in the city. Sure, the looks aren’t great, but it was what could be afforded at the time. Frankly, the only detriment to the place is the location. It’s on the north side of Dodge, so if you are coming from the west, you have to jink around to get into the parking lot since you can only turn left off of Dodge at stoplights. A few more televisions would be nice, and for some a beer only liquor license, but I come here for the food.

I like my brisket dry and lean, and this is what beyond bbq delivers. I haven’t tasted the«asian» part of the menu but as for the bbq items, it pretty good. The area that this place is lacking is the service level: kinda creepy to eat at this place although the restaurant looks new and is clean

I had a layover in Omaha and spent one night at the Marriott. I’m not to fond of hotel food so i decided to give Beyond BBQ a try. Placed my order Online delivery 35Minutes wait but well worth it. I had the Three Meat Platter Brisket Ribs Pulled Chicken with two side Mac and Cheese Baked Beans all meals come with a corn bread muffin and i purchased a Lemonade and a Brownie. You get a selection of dipping sauces i chose Honey BBQ Memphis and Texas Smoke. If i;m in Omaha I’ll order again love the food Good BBQ reasonably priced.

I drove passed this place 100 times before I finally tried it I’m glad I did. The barbecue is very good and the egg rolls and fried rice are awesome. it’s an odd combination but it really is delicious.

What does the«Beyond» in Beyond BBQ even mean? Fried rice, fried wings, kabobs, and subs. Along with their BBQ — brisket, pulled pork, ribs, and subs — people are bound to find something they would like… as long as they eat meat. Strangely enough, I actually would recommend the Beyond over the BBQ.

Beyond BBQ did go beyond my expectations. :) A friend of mine loves down home cooking and I decided to venture out of my usual gastronomic box and go with her to get some cue. The assortment of foods they offer is a bit mind boggling(and I’d love to know the story behind the menu!) but I guess it’s nice to give a gal options! I ordered the beef brisket sandwich and a side of mac and cheese. The sandwich was served on a big fluffy white bun and was substantial enough to house the beefy slices inside. The beef was a tad under seasoned, but was nice and smoky. I would have liked it to be more tender, but it was still a good sandwich. I enjoyed the range of sauces they had available… I think I liked the Kansas City sweet the best but they had many other options like Memphis hot and Carolina tangy to accommodate bbq-ers from all over. The mac and cheese was solid as well. Creamy and gooey without being too rich. Mine was a little on the cooler side, so I would love to taste a piping hot batch! Overall nothing quite wowed me, but it was a decent pick by my nameless diner-loving friend(you know who you are).

Over two years have passed since my initial Beyond BBQ review and my love has only grown stronger since then. WE have become regulars here, particularly my other half who comes here frequently on his dinner break. In my opinion, the pulled pork and the baby back ribs are the stand outs. They also have super tasty mac and cheese. As far as sauce goes, the Texas and mustard sauces are the absolute best. I am no barbecue aficionado but in my taste bud’s opinion Beyond BBQ is the best I have ever eaten. We have returned countless times and we ill continue to do so. Give this pace a shot!

This is a great local joint. The owner has done a great job with the barbecue fused with asian fare on the menu. I tried a bit of everything I would classify it more in the philipino style than asian. Ribs were perfect, egg rolls were hand made very nice loved the green beans!!!

3.5 stars… would be a solid 4 if it were a little more consistent. Usually, it’s really tender meat. I usually get a combo plate with mac on the side. The mac is nothing to write home about, but it gets the job done. I usually doctor it up a bit once I get it home though. Service is quick and pleasant. Restaurant is cleaner than most carry-outs.

I love BBQ and this place was pretty delicious! I went with a friend and we got the pulled pork and feathertips. Both were pretty good! I enjoyed the different sauces, and can not remember what I ended up with but was pretty good, the honey one?!? The corn muffin was good and the beans were not bad. We got it to go, and did not feel like we had to wait very long. Reasonably priced. Good to go place! We would both come back.

I love Beyond BBQ! This place is amazing! I always get their ribs with the Honey BBQ sauce! It is consistently good and I love eating here! Such a Mom and Pop place like people say but that is always a plus in my book! I love the apples and the egg rolls are to die for! Seriously I know egg rolls at a BBQ joint = weird but you will be sorry if you don’t get one! Go and eat their ribs with the honey BBQ sauce because they are amazing!

First timer again. As you can tell by my recent reviews, I have been craving BBQ. Went there on Memorial day… So I am going to use that as a partial excuse for them. After my meal, they probably shouldn’t have opened. I ordered the three meat dinner(pulled pork, brisket, ribs). Comes with two sides and a corn muffin. Cost was $ 11 I think. On to the review! Pluses-sauces. They have a wide variety of different styles of BBQ sauces available. Which is great because you will need them Neutrals — baked beans. They tasted like doctored up Bush brand beans. I like Bush beans so no complaint, just not great. Mac and cheese– tasted store bought. Wasn’t great but ok. Brisket was good. No smoke ring but moist and tasty. Negatives– pulled pork was dry(bring on the sauce). Corn bread — dry. And finally, the ribs. These were the most pathetic ribs I has ever seen. Overcooked, tough and tiny! It had about an 1/8″ of meat on them. Based on previous reviews, I will blame this meal on Memorial day. I will give them one more shot but the leash is short!

We just moved back to Omaha from Austin. We’ve been away around 15 years. Omaha is a great food town. But we miss the smoked meat of Texas(Salt Lick for pulled pork and chicken, Franklin for ridiculously good brisket and turkey) and Louie Mueller in Taylor for great ribs). So when we saw the great reviews for Beyond BBQ, we were optimistic. My husband and I each got the 3 meat combo: brisket, ribs and pulled pork. I got the Santa Fe sauce and I’m not sure which sauce my husband got — something mild. We each got fries and mac n cheese as our sides. We got the order to go. It took about 25 minutes to get our food. We had nothing to do but eat dinner so that was fine. The guy made a pretty big deal about how hot the Santa Fe sauce was so I was really looking forward to it. The spicier, the better in my book. The pulled pork was dry and kind of flavorless. The ribs were okay. The brisket was REALLY tender and the best of the three meats but the«bark» wasn’t crispy so was more fatty at the edges than I like. The fries were good and the mac n cheese was okay. It actually tasted like Kraft which I know isn’t what it was and which I tend to like so that was okay. My husband liked the place more than I did. Maybe I’m just not ready yet for Nebraska’s smoked meat. Plus there are too many other good food choices in town.

Unilocaled for bbq, while in town– a Unilocal win! This place was awesome! Awesome food and company. Ordered pulled pork sandwich, portion texture flavor moisture– all was good. Ordered brisket platter– was delicious, tender moist full of smoke flavor. Sides of potato salad and Mac and cheese were simple and yet so so good. Flavors were homemade. Sorry about the picture it was all we could show– good was so good it was gone in a hurry :) Couldn’t be happier to find a place like this while traveling through town. Price and selection and flavor and service and flavor. Did I mention flavor?- Easy five star. Owner/staff/friend were friendly and caring, we enjoyed talking with them.

Beyond BBQ was the first barbeque joint I went to since being back in town. The reviews seemed scattered but the location is only a few blocks from where I’m staying. I was in need if a quick lunch… so it was decided. I walked in and noticed that was clean and orderly. The kitchen had a large open window and even that was very clean. The specials were only for lunch and seemed very reasonably priced but I didn’t get one. Sorry to the dinner guests who wanted a special though. The menu was like any other BBQ place, your choice of meats(sandwiches, sliced or pulled), various side dishes and a small assortment of other things like eggrolls(?). I got the 3 meat combo like any first timer with baked beans and Mac n cheese. The meal was served with a sweet cornbread muffin without butter or honey, though I could have missed these at the service bar on the quick walk out. The sides were normal. Almost seemed out of a box really. The pulled pork was great. Came in large pieces that were tender enough to eat alone but were SO good with the Kansas city barbeque sauce. The brisket was flavorful and dry as it should be and literally fell apart from how well it was smoked. Now the ribs, they sealed the deal! Slightly crispy with very tender, juicy meat. Didn’t even want to use the sauce in them because of how good they were. They were cut oddly though… through bone and all so some had more meat than others and I bit into slivers of bone once or twice. Overall, decent place if you want some quick bbq on your way down dodge street. The service was great too. The man was a little odd but fun to talk to and sincerely nice. I’ll be stopping in every so often to get my quick BBQ fix on those busy days.

I have lived in the area for awhile and was wanting to find a good BBQ place. I drove by every day going to class thinking how i wanted to give it a whirl. Finally tonight my aunt and cousins invited me to join them and I was thrilled. It was a little odd when we walked in, the guy at the register who I presume to be the owner was friendly but a bit awkward. We were unsure of how to order and he didn’t seem to give us a hint. He took our order and we found a seat. It was very hot and stuffy inside and our drinks were not brought to us. Wondering if we were supposed to help ourselves, I asked the front counter man and he said«no we have a fountain in the back» and laughed. Eventually the cook finally brought us our drinks. We decided it mite be more of a carry out place rather than dine in. When our food arrived the other details no longer mattered. The food was excellent! They had several sauces, my favorite was the Kansas City sauce. I had the pulled pork and the Mac and cheese was phenomenal. We will certainly be back, or order for delivery as they deliver for FREE within 4 miles

I was very underwhelmed with my experience at Beyond BBQ… which is probably something I should have been wary of given the plentiful 4 and 5-star reviews, the proximity to my house and fact that I kept putting off my visit. Really, I was set up to fail. How could it live up to expectations at that point? My favorite part of our visit was borrowing the tray of sauces and keeping them to ourselves as we were the only occupied table on a Saturday evening. Also, Star Wars ep IV was playing on the tv, which makes everything better. But the pulled pork sandwich? The mac & cheese? Even the egg roll? All just okay in my book. I’m really pulling for these guys, but can’t say that I’ll be a frequent visitor. Unfortunately there’s just too much taste bud competition in town.
