Employee seemed friendly enough but they really are stingy on their toppings at this location. Barely put any on the two sandwiches I ordered. Noticed they only put a few black olives on one of the sandwiches and asked for more … yeah she put a total of 2 black olives on. Prefer other Blimpie’s locations and probably won’t be back to this one.

This Blimpie is tucked in a strip mall south of the intersection of Millard Ave, Q St, and S 138th St, right behind the Pizza Hut. This review is based on about 20 lunchtime visits over the last three years. The staff at this location is especially friendly, even by Blimpie standards. It didn’t take them long to learn my preferences and dietary restrictions. It usually takes 2 – 3 minutes to get through the line. The food and presentation are standard Blimpie: fresh, very good but never quite excellent. Each meal comes with a complimentary cookie, pickle spear, or other goodie. The soups are good, but aren’t as fresh and tasty as the ones I’ve had at a few other Blimpies in the past. This location also features Blue Bunny ice cream during the summer months. Some of the Blimpie corporate-imposed quirks are apparent here: I always get a chuckle out of their signs that announce the«Soup’s» for the day. Napkins are handed out with the meal, so if I make a mess I have to go to the counter and let the whole world know what I need. A meal can be as little as $ 5 if you’re careful to keep track of the coupons and specials, or over $ 10 if you go for a big meal with no discounts. Drink refills are free. Most people order take-out, so seats are always available. Two televisions show news and sports; volume is kept at a pleasantly low level, and a remote is often laying around so customers can change channels. Tips: I’ve noticed black particles in my beverage on two occasions, so I usually order a clear beverage(water, lemonade, etc) so I can perform a visual inspection. I usually park behind the Pizza Hut so I don’t have to back out into traffic. Nearby alternatives: If you have a little more time and a few more dollars, try Shirley’s Diner around the corner. Soups are better, and ingredients a bit tastier, at Little Kings across the street, but they never get my order right.
