The second lady and the manager knew what they were doing… first lady needs retrained.

this is a nice building, nice parking lot. they do NOT do the out of state vehicle inspections but they do Drivers License and Car Licenses. I found this out. I went and was waiting in line when they opened today and got 6^th in line. when I left the waiting room was full but the Car license area there was no waiting. I was in and out in 40 minutes and I was switching to NE from an out of state licenses. you have to have ALL your paperwork that is listed on the site or you are wasting your time and they take time out of helping a person with their license to explain this to people. they said they WILL get you started and you have to return with a «pass» that will put you back in the beginning of the line (never in my multiple state DMV experience has that happened). had they had the out of state vehicle inspection station at this location I could have got my title and car registration but I at least had the drivers license done and the paperwork started for the vehicle and then I drove down to 84^th and Dodge. my experience here was fine and very fast which considering the KS dmv kept me hostage for 5 hours I was thankful. the people were polite but I had all my paperwork including birth certificate and TWO forms of address proof as well required by the site. don’t think you can get past that requirement this DMV doesn’t play that and he asked me first if I had it and what I had. THEN we continued on the process. I believe its online renewal (they do have a computer there to do that too) but I would return here again and do recommend it as the most efficient combo that I’ve seen and I’ve lived in NE CA MO and KS. ps. since there is no listing for the 84^th and Dodge DMV i’ll tack on. considering I had to get a vehicle inspection and the switch from out of state to NE it went fact and I was done by 10 with all of it. I had a couple problems with this location I had to write checks because their credit card program was down plus they charge you fees for credit or debit cards, so please always make sure you had a second form of payment on you cash or check, and the man behind the counter wanted my actual license plate off the car so in the most frigid weather ever I had to try to get the rusted plate off the car. once that was offered he gave me my new plates and tags and I was on my way. they also DO NOT have a Drivers License Bureau at this location there are several large signs inside but if you don’t check the site you might waste your time you need to be waiting in line at another DMV. the nice man in the white truck that helped me with the rusted bolts had to drive elsewhere to get his license. I tried to go Monday and due to the Holiday they were closed so like the other review said be careful of holidays. in general my couple hour experience with the Douglas County DMV was nothing like I had down in KS or MO for the fifteen years I lived there but I wanted to caution about the possible major issues I could have had had I not doublechecked the online files and such.

All in all not a bad experience. Come prepared and the process is smooth. They recently were closed for about a week for training on a new system but they seem to have worked out the kinks. Just like with most things, don’t go during peak days or hours (beinnging/​end of the month or just before they close.

Contrary to popular belief that DMV buildings rise straight out of Hell, this like-​new building sports a flashy exterior and dull, intimidating interior. Naturally, the people here are nice until you give them money. Afterward, they don’t feel there’s an obligation for customer service anymore. Usually this is remedied by… age. There is a direct effect between your age and how the staff treats you. If you’re 20+, they’ll treat you decently. If you’re a teenager, they get more impatient. I’m sure senior citizens fall in between the two categories in terms of treatment.
To add to its notoriety, the lines are indeed long. Sometimes the wait is so long that Congress actually has the time to work together and pass a bill before your number is called at the DMV. Oh, and a final thing to be aware of is when they’re closed. Apparently Columbus Day is a day off for employees, so it’s really bad when you need to pay for something before/​on Columbus Day. Call ahead!
