Don Carmelos is in Rockbrook Village at 108th near Center there is plenty of parking in front– its a really nice restaurant and I loved my pepperoni/meatball pizza and cheese bread I’ve had Don Carmelos in Elkhorn and this was just as delicious. my server was friendly and the prices were reasonable. YUM!

I’ve been pretty disappointed in Omaha’s pizza options since moving here. Nothing personal, Omaha, just haven’t yet found my personal«go to» NY style pizza. I know, I know, we are smack dab in the middle of the country but come on. Plus, we admittedly still have lots of exploring to do, so our search has not been extensive. But, I digress. Anyway, I’d bookmarked Don Carmelo’s a while back and we’ve now been a couple of times and overall, we really like it. The first time, it was just the wife and me, so we ordered a small cheese pizza with some cheese garlic bread. The garlic bread was great. Good flavor, toasted perfectly, nice sauce, maybe could have used some more cheese but we liked it a lot. The cheese pizza was really good, too. The crust is tasty, though maybe a little more«airy» than I’d like, but the cheese and sauce were to our liking. We went back a second time with the kids and the pizza again(half cheese/half mushroom and black olive) was very good. The youngest son had a cheese calzone, which we all agreed was great. Lots of mozzarella and ricotta cheese and I think they added a little garlic. Not sure but it was a hit. Both times we’ve dined in, we’ve had the same server. I can’t remember her name but she does a decent job. The place hasn’t been busy either time we’ve gone in so we’ve gotten good service. The location is fine, a couple of TVs, booths, tables. They seem to be a pretty strong carry out business, at least the times we’ve been there. Overall, it’s not great NY style pizza. It’s good. And since pizza is such a subjective thing, your opinion might differ. But, this is probably our second favorite pizza place we’ve tried here in Omaha. There are others to try but we definitely have this in our regular family rotation and will be back.

Called in for a carry out pizza and cheese bread on a Friday night. Waited a couple minutes when i arrived(i was early any way). Pizza was great and cheese bread was good as well. Not my favorite in Omaha, but a good location in Rockbrook close to home.

Fast lunch service, good prices, and friendly service. The sandwiches and calzones are delicious too!

We came here with a large group. I was horribly unimpressed and also underserved. The staff consisted of two hard working younger ladies who had way to much to do. I cant blame them but everyone in the restaurant was getting less than 2 star service. I ordered my own pizza and just felt it was blahh. The crust was nothing special and the sauce was flavorless and did nothing for the pizza. the toppings were of good quality, fresh but it was just a bland un-flavorfull pizza. Nothing special or great about the pie I had. and the service on top of that made it a place I will probably never return to again.

Extremely clean dining room. We got a large pizza. The crust was nice and crispy(if you like that sort of thing), but the sauce was sweeter and blander than I’d prefer. It was also a tad on the greasy side. The small side salad was WAY overpriced(2.99 for half a cup of salad mix with a couple tomato cubes and a pickle spear? Ok), but the Italian dressing had sort of a nice buttery flavor. The air conditioning was not working in the restroom. Early September+Nebraska? We need air! I’d go here again in a pinch, but it won’t be my first choice. Zio’s and The Pizza Shoppe are vastly better.

Excellent pizza the crust is light and chewy with a perfect crispiness. The fountain pop was great and tasted like they regularly clean their machine. Great experience, nice atmosphere.

Great place to come grab a couple of slices of tasty New York style pizza for lunch. Lunch prices are very reasonable and the slices general come out of the kitchen quickly. Service is always friendly and attentive. While I think Zio’s has better quality toppings I think Don Carmelo’s has a better overall base flavor(crust + sauce + cheese). Definitely give this place a try if you’re in the vicinity looking for lunch. Much different atmosphere than their Elkhorn location.

I was excited to try Don Carmelo’s after reading all the good reviews online, but left super disappointed. The service was terrible… got my soda when my pizza arrived 20 mins after I ordered, the pizza was sadly worse than a frozen pizza, and for some reason my bill came out $ 40 more than it should have. Perhaps it was an extremely off night for the staff there? I will not be trying this place again.

Finally got to try some Don Carmelo’s pizza. My dad has been raving about this place for years. It’s your typical New York style pizza. It tastes the same as anything you’ll find at the numerous Ray’s pizza chains in the Big Apple. I’d rate the pizza here above Zio’s based on taste and lack of greasiness. Great place to grab a slice of pizza on the run.

I was in a rush last night, so thought I’d swing by to pick up a pizza from Don Carmelo’s(apparently eating out the last four days in a row wasn’t quite enough for this girl). I remember the pizza being pretty tasty about 5 years ago. Plus, I thought I’d get a little crazy and branch out from the La Casa and Wholefoods pizzas we typically order. Ordering pizza for my family is always a bit tricky. You can never order one happy share pizza. There’s the«I heart meat» vs. «I need veg» vs. «I like odd things on my pie» debate that always leads me to ordering more than one pizza(there are only three of us folks) or doing some sort of half-half compromise situation. Went with the half sausage-half veg(plus a few extra toppings). Always order an extra side of sauce from this place if you require sauciness. The crust is thin, which I love. Had a slice of sausage and a slice of veg. Cheese, sausage… simple, good. The veg slice disappointed me a bit. Is it because I’ve become used to plentiful veg toppings? Was it the lack of interesting topping options(have you tried the apple-bacon at WF?). Whatever the case, this is edible pizza. I’d order from DCs again. They don’t take the top slot on my list, but I’ll definitely eat DCs pizza before any of those mass produced chain pizza places.

In my quest for giant pizzas, I was excited to note that the Don provides an extra-large pizza size. I ordered up some cheese-bread and an X-Large pizza(of which they were gracious to do a half original combo, half chicken pesto). They do offer delivery to a limited area, apparently, but as I’m sure that 50+ blocks puts me out of the delivery zone, I picked up the order on my way home from work. They had it piping hot and ready to go right when I asked it to be. The interior of the restaurant reminded me more of a Sam & Louie’s type chain, but sometimes that happens in a strip mall… While I was waiting, I listened to the blaring ESPN coming from the TV in the corner from the most inopportune seat in the place. While my waiting perch was close to the counter, it was also close to the pop machine, so when the only group of 6 teenage guys in the restaurant wanted refills, I was kind of in the way. When I got home, I tried to put the pizza and cheese-bread in the oven to keep it warm, but the X-LRG box wouldn’t fit(18″ pizza, that’s what I’m talking about!) so I had to distribute to two trays. I didn’t realize that the cheese-bread came with marinara either, so I’d recommend removing that before you have a burnt styrofoam container with semi-melted plastic lid on your hands… just saying. Luckily the thing burned through right above the line where the sauce was, so we still got to enjoy the marinara goodness. Definitely thin, New York style pizza. The crust was crunchy with that perplexing ‘hollow’ texture. All was good, not great. Truth be told, I expected more from the«first family to bring New York style pizza to Omaha» and«the Best Tasting and Healthiest Pizza You’ll Find»… but how can you not set yourself up for disappointment with statements like that? And even though I couldn’t find ‘proof’ of this healthy pizza concept, I just took their word for it and helped myself to an extra couple of slices.
