Finnegan’s Pub and Grill

I used to eat here for lunch almost every Saturday about 8 years ago. I took a bit of a hiatus when I moved out of state, but I just started hitting this place up for the occasional lunch again a couple of years ago.
Their burgers are good and pretty sizable (two patties). I also like their Pork Tenderloin Sandwich and they have some pretty tasty stuff on their white board of daily specials. The homemade potato chips and their tater tots are both VERY tasty. It’s typical «bar and grill» food and not your fancier «gastropub» food. So, with a couple of exceptions, they pretty much serve whatever goes on a flat top grill or in a deep fryer. So, if you come here expecting that type of food, then you won’t be let down and you’ll get a good meal for your money.
Service is friendly and has gotten more attentive (wait staff used to like spend their time chit-​chatting at the bar instead of waiting tables). Things do get a little spotty at the peak of lunch rush. It’s almost like they need just one more wait person on staff for that 2 hour block.
Chairs are unique for a bar and grill. At most of their tables (excluding the high tops) they use office chairs that recline, swivel, and roll. They can be really comfortable unless they’re broken and you find yourself eating lunch sideways at a 15° angle.
Restaurant is a little too dark inside at lunchtime. Probably works well for their evening and nighttime bar crowd, but walking in from the bright sunlight at noon to a dark bar feels wrong. Sometimes they leave the vertical blinds at the front open and that helps. It’s funny to watch people walk in here on a bright sunny Summer day and then stand at the front in confusion while their eyes adjust.
This place had a huge surge in popularity in 2007 – 2008 when Omaha instituted its restaurant smoking ban. Since this place does keno it was exempted and so became one of the few places where people could eat AND smoke in Omaha. When they removed the keno exception and this place became non-​smoking its lunch business dropped off dramatically (same thing happened to Clancy’s and a couple of others). Thankfully, their food quality did not go downhill and they’ve soldiered on.
I’ve never been here in the evenings or at night to drink, so I really cannot comment on how well this place does as a bar. So, my review is limited to the lunch side of their business.

The beer is cold enough that a layer of ice forms in your glass. That’s a very positive thing in my book. Lots of TV and staff is helpful. I’ve not ever eaten here but they always look to have several specials available and a regular menu.

Solid bar food, service was timely, both servers were very friendly and attentive. I had a burger and it was enormous. Cooked fine, good taste. A solid showing for a sports bar. House made chips were excellent. Good value for the money.

This is my favorite place to visit when I am back in Omaha. The food is always great and you can’t beat the prices. They make a great mixed drink and also have good specials. The best part of this place is the staff. They are great people and always make you feel welcome.

Friendly, competent server and bartender. Reasonably-​priced drinks. Good chips and spicy salsa. Clean bathrooms. Perfect music level for conversation.

Went there last night after volleyball and had the WORST service I’ve ever had. The server was rude when my friends were ordering their food. Then after our first drink it took her WAY too long to bring the second, our drinks had been empty for quite some time. Enough time for her to take 2 rounds of drinks and take a shot with the only other table in the bar/​restaurant. Then when she finally remembered and my friend asked her why it took so long she looked at us with a deer and headlights look only to try to give us an excuse. Then she tried to blame it on the only other co-​worker in the building. He then said «my bad I’ve got them», assuming he’d then pay for the drinks since we waited so long we were about to leave. But the server didn’t take the items off our bills. We asked to talk to the man, and much much later he finally comes in from outside, what sort of break he took I’m not sure, but then he proceeded to be rude to my friends as well. He was pushing up against my friends chair, sort of trapping her at the table. She asked nicely for him to stop, but he kept doing it. Then about the wierdest thing I’ve ever heard from someone working in the service industry (not sure I’d call what they were doing service), was that we «should stiff her». Rude to not only the customers but to his co-​worker. Horrible service, rude employees. Not going to go back there again.

Very deceiving from outside. Bigger and better inside and the waitress was very friendly. The owner was pleasant, personable, and engaging. Music was excellent and food wasn’t too bad either — I had an app (fried zucchini? I think? — it was late and I was tired due to being on the road for hours), steak, and beer. If I lived in the area, I would be a regular visitor.

They forgot my reservation that I made about 2 months in advance, stating they could not find it. I was pretty pissed, as we had 15 people here to celebrate my graduation. I told the manager (maybe owner) to get it together. They set up a few tables, all was well, we closed it down and I believe we had great night.
Since then we go there about once a month and have always enjoyed it. The homemade chips are freaking bomb! Maybe just a little too salty, but add a beer and who cares?

Never again. We stopped by to eat lunch because it was close. I had a chili cheeseburger… Or so they called it. The hambuger was burnt to a crisp and they tried to hide it with nasty ass «chili». I ate about two bites. Would not recommend for food.
Expect to spend about $ 5 – 10 on some shitty food.
