My 17-year-old nephew, the Grant-Man, says Freddy’s serves the best fast-food burgers and fries in Omaha, Nebraska. He orders the double steak-burger, California-style, which means pickles, Freddy’s fry sauce, tomato, lettuce, onion, and American cheese. The Grant-Man also loves their french fries, because they are hot, skinny, and salty, like the Grant-Man himself, and he dips them intently and frequently in the Freddy’s fry sauce, which is a seasoned mayonnaise. He says their vanilla custard is pretty damn good too.

An ok burger joint. Thin, crispy edged burgers but overly salty to my taste. Fires are thin and good and they are generous with them. The real star for my kids is the custard– they live it. Friendly staff, never crowded but at 33.00 for the three of us, it’s not tie typical fast food. Still prefer Culvers but if you need to soak up some alcohol or keep the kids happy, this pace is ok.

Freddy’s is interesting, the hamburgers and thin with crispy edges and greasy. Which sounds like a bad thing but sometimes you are in the mood for a good, greasy, diner style burger. Fries are the shoestring variety with a great Freddy’s sauce for dippin’. And you can’t go wrong with the custard for dessert. When we are in the mood for fast food with the family, Freddy’s is on the short list because they have a veggie burger on the menu. My vegetarian daughter enjoys being able to go to a fast food that’s not Mexican for once!

Rather bland and unflattering. I have driven by many times and finally stopped in to see the hubbub. It was not busy and the staff was friendly. I ordered the veggie combo and the star of the show was the fries. they are not shoestrings, rather like toothpicks. Crispy and hot. Thankfully they have shake ums and a dipping sauce a la Canes. I don’t think I will go here again. It was nothing to write home about

It’s a upscale fast food. They have unique sandwiches especially their need sandwiches. It’s very greasy but tasty. Their shakes are also good.

First off; if you are a drive through customer, get used to a bit of a wait. Every burger is cooked to order, so it’s not taken pre-cooked and wrapped from under a heat lamp and slapped into a bag. Rather, park your wagon and come in for a treat. Grab a booth and put up an order for a wonderful steakburger; the edges crispy and the seasoning oh-so right. The shoestring fries are best eaten with a fork so that you can pick up as much ketchup as possible. Top it all off with a Hawaiian Delight custard sundae, and then lazily saunter back to your car to drive away. All in all, a great pace to grab a tasty burger; beats the you-know-what out of chains like McD or BK.

As I was driving home from running errands I remembered that a Freddy’s opened near my house. I was so excited to try it. As I pulled into the parking lot I noticed that the drive through lane was at least 10 deep with only one lane open. I decided to go in figuring it would be a lot faster. I was surprised to see how busy it was inside. The line at the counter didn’t take much time. I order the combo #1. I filled my drink and waited. Unfortunately because of the open kitchen concept I was able to see how inept the kitchen was. There wasn’t much of a sense of urgency. I waited 12+ minutes for my one burger and fries. There was a lady that had been waiting for 22+ minutes for her order. I brought it home and opened it up. The burger looked like road kill. it was so over cooked that it actually crunched in my mouth. I had to take a piece out of my mouth to make sure it wasn’t a rock. There was no «meat» on the bun… just crunchy patties. The fries have potential but I would guess the prime time to eat them is very short after getting out of the fryer. Mine were cold and soggy. So much potential… but just fell short.

My $ 1.99 ice cream cone had two scoops only on top of the cone– the cone itself was empty. Not a lot of fries came along with my combo. Directions on where to go to pickup food were vague. Love the music!
