Had dinner inside the hy-vee last night. Rice only and a side of crab Rangoon and a water came to $ 7.60. Ouch.

I always saw their cutely decorated truck parked outside the Hy-Vee at 51st& Center but never had the opportunity to try it until they became one of the regular weekly food vendors at my workplace. Now I’ve tried just about everything on the menu at least once! My very favorite is the Philly cheesesteak(with onion rings for a couple bucks extra). Another fav is the house made smoked reuben that uses pickled beef brisket and coleslaw in place of the sauerkraut for a bit sweeter flavor. They have a variety of burger options but they are huge so you have to be pretty hungry to finish one. The portion of fries is also generous, enough to share with someone. The menu is pretty consistent but changes up some every now and then. The crispy chicken club sandwich and wraps are great … I think the only thing I haven’t tried is the pulled pork sandwich and hot dog but they’re big hits with others at work. I am looking forward to their return this fall, it’s a highlight of my work week! There is a short wait as your food is cooked hot and fresh but it’s so worth it. The staff are always pleasant and friendly. Generally, $ 5 – 10 price range depending on sides you order. They had a $ 3.00 cup of tomato soup which was a great addition to my lunch during the winter months.
