A friend and I decided to give this place a try on our way to a show at the Century Link. The main reason we chose this place was because of their really cool beer garden/patio area that I spotted while dining at a nearby establishment. Since the weather was perfect I really wanted to sit outdoors. Upon walking in it seemed a bit dark and dingy, and you could tell who the«regulars» sitting at the bar were from the looks they gave us when we walked in. Not that they were unfriendly, just sayin. We ordered a drink inside and took it out to the patio. My drink was good and just strong enough, and very reasonably priced. The patio has some real potential. What I couldn’t see from the street was that it was on the unkept side. Many of the chairs were dirty, many rusty and the same with the tables. Ashtrays around that clearly hadn’t been cleaned in a very long time, and a water fountain that appeared to be broke but with some TLC could be really cool. Maybe it was just too early in the year and they hadn’t had a chance to do their spring maintenance… Oh well… we were outside. We ordered the garlic cheese bread with marinara dipping sauce and a small cheese pizza. The bread looked great when it was brought out, unfortunately it had no flavor. I’m pretty sure they did not put any garlic on it. The marina sauce was equally tasteless and sweet. We actually dumped some parmesan cheese into it to try to get flavor. The pizza was just okay. Very thin, and you guessed it… flavorless. Our waitress was friendly and quick with her service, and other patrons in the patio area seemed friendly as well. It seems as if it’s okay to bring your dog to the patio because someone had their dog with them. I like the potential of the patio so much that I will go back again and give it a try. I likely will not order any food though.

I used to go to this bar nearly every day. But one of the waitresses was soooo rude to my girlfriend that I stopped going for quite awhile. I decided to go back and let bygones be bygones and after a few times of going back I ran into the same waitress. I tried to be polite, but the waitress and the owner talked about us all night and more or less mocked us, pointing at us and whispering. If that’s how they want to treat regulars, I have no problem finding a different spot to frequent. I have found most bars like money and mine is as good as anyone else’s. Joe Banana’s must only like certain people’s money, I guess. I must say however that other than the experiences above I have had nothing but good experiences at this bar and all the other waiters and waitresses are great. And the patio may be the best in Omaha. But after the way I was treated and the way the owner condoned the actions, I have to leave two stars. That waitress should have been fired!

Came here with some friends, one of whom totally loves this place, apparently for the breakfast, which we were too late for this day… The waitress was very friendly but also quite slow due to being the only one there and it was on the crowded side… I got a burger that I was quite happy with, of course I had them put a fried egg and jalapenos on there, because that’s how I roll… Price wise, it was pretty decent… a solid experience, and one I may repeat to try the breakfast that I missed this go round…

This used to be my favorite bar. My boyfriend and I would go here anywhere from three to four times a week for over a year. Looooved their burger baskets, the burger was freshly made and it was $ 4.00. We brought literally all of our out of town guests here and had a group of 15 or more meet us there on a couple occasions because the service is great, the prices are right, the food is awesome, and it was never overcrowded. We enjoyed the company of fellow patrons and the staff. I love the dark, cozy, slight shabbiness of the bar and this was our go-to place. The patio is awesome. A couple of the bartenders are the best in the business, if you ask me. After over a year of going to Joe’s at least three times per week, we had an incident with a staff member who had only been our bartender on one other occasion, so we weren’t as familiar with her as the other staff. Without boring you with details, I was literally followed out the door by this bartender who was yelling at me for being rude to her because I interrupted my boyfriend while he was ordering a drink to tell him I wanted to go home. It was bizarre and humiliating and I don’t think I did anything to warrant that type of behavior. it certainly sullies my overall opinion of the place. We recently started going back and the other staff has been great as always, but I don’t think I can ever go back as frequently as I used to, but that could change.

Let me start by saying I might be a lil biased because I’m an established neighborhood regular. BUT if you take it for what it is, it’s a great lil joint. There are two distinctly different sides to the place. There’s the«café» side, which I thoroughly enjoy for breakfast. Btw, cheapest breakfast in town. You can get 2 eggs, hash browns, toast, and coffee for $ 3.99! Their hashbrowns are great and the homemade salsa is an excellent addition(just ask for a side). The other side, the bar side, is a small, dimly-lit quirky atmosphere with a large bar and a few high top tables. It’s always full of regulars but everyone is nice and welcoming. There aren’t a ton of tvs so I personally don’t go for sports. But the drinks are cheap and the food is good. Truthfully… some of the best pizza in town I believe. I strongly support this lovely lil local dive!

A bar and restaurant that for some reason is easy to forget about. Joe Banana’s has been at the corner of 10th and Pacific for as long as I can remember. But for some odd reason I had never taking the plunge to try it out. Well, that all changed last week when I was setting up for a party I was throwing next door at House of Loom. I ordered about the simplest thing on Earth: one large cheese pizza for carry-out. The lady working there was very nice, even called me «hon.» I dig that. The décor inside is dark, cozy and a little shabby. Definitely not a crowd in there at 5 p.m. on a Friday. The pizza tasted 100% average and was cut into good old fashioned squares. That’s about where my experience ended. While there’s nothing to really draw me back in(especially with House of Loom next door), I did notice that Joe Banana’s has a fantastic patio that is probably a great place to enjoy a drink or two on a warm evening. Plus, I heard it’s a local biker hang out, so I’m sure there’s a lot of colorful characters to chat up if I ever end up there again.

Stopped in here randomly, due to House of Loom being closed mon-tues. The patio area is fantastic! The inside of the bar is a typical dive type of place, and yes the bar portion of Joe’s Bananas is open way past the given hours on Unilocal( Unilocal is only accounting for the attached restaurant portion, which is separate s by sliding glass doors). Being here on a Tuesday evening, it’s not too busy but has a small group of regulars– so nice and comfortable. Me and my friend tried out the«watermelon pint» for $ 5. Doesn’t taste like watermelon at all, but rather an orange sweet tart — which the bartender told us beforehand– and it’s pretty tasty. Full bar, limited selection of beer on tap, but plenty of bottles to choose from. All in all a great laid back bar with classic rock music in the background, wonderful patio to enjoy the summer weather and not overcrowded/busy. Perfect weeknight stopping spot!

This is a nice neighborhood bar & grill. They actually have a restaurant side and a bar side divided by glass doors. The food here is definitely a cut above your normal bar grub. Alot of the items are made on the premises including pizzas, onion rings, pork tenderloin, soups and specials. The pizza here is pretty good and the mini is the size of a dinner plate — perfect size. We have also tried the burgers, wings and some other items with equal success. They are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, give em a try.
