Be careful if your eyes are bigger than your stomach, they will over feed you. We had the Texas fries(fried onions and jalapeños) which tastes too much like fries for me. But their tacos and enchiladas are big and tasty. We came here on a Saturday night and had the place to ourselves. The staff was ultra cool and friendly.

Stopped in today as I live close by but had never been before. Always assumed it was a take out place but they also have a nice sit down style with beer available. Ordered the chicken enchilada. Was expecting a long wait a la full service style but it was surprisingly fast. The food was delicious and I got a lot more than I was expecting. Will definitely be visiting again.

Our lunch was the least appetizing Mexican meal any of us had ever seen — no exaggeration! It was apparent the ground beef was way over cooked and smelled rancid. The shredded lettuce was the palest light green with brown dots. Every ingredient /condiment looked like the lowest quality.

I was craving tacos and so were my two daughters. This place seemed reasonably close by and reasonably-priced. The inside seemed a little out dated but felt like a home style family friendly place. We stood at the front for a few minutes not knowing if we seated ourselves or waited for service. So e sat down and waited another 3 – 4 minutes. I was kinda hoping for a hello, how are you, be there in a second kind of thing but no. Menus are tucked away behind the condiments. Prices seem a little high in some parts of the menu but it looked reasonable. We started with the 5.50 nacho plate with the option of flour chips or corn or both. We tried both and I wasn’t impressed at all. A pile of assorted chips barley topped with cheese. It looked sad really sad. Microwaved stale chips topped with cheese. Boring! Girls ordered Al la carte. Two beef tacos and a side of fries. The waitress brought out two sides of rice instead of fries. I asked for rice with my meal so many she got confused? She mentioned that they were known for the enchiladas and tacos so I too ordered one beef taco and one enchilada. Taco was tasty but was lacking something. Enchilada was more than enough and packed well with seasoned ground beef. The sauce was great. I’ll be back again to get the enchiladas My daughters liked it. I liked most of it. One thing that kinda bothered me was that the girl dishwasher thought it was ok to talk on her phone out in the dining area in front of customers. I’m not interested in what’s going on with whatever your going through and you should probably use your phone on your own time. Next time I get it togo.

This place was so disappointing! The food was bland and the rice was disgusting. The staff was rude. Prices were high for quality. There are so many better restaurants in Omaha.

Old school, family oriented food joint. Servers are always super nice and make you feel comfortable. Prices are reasonable and the food is great.

What would you say about a «cheese enchilada» that is Velveeta wrapped in a tortilla and covered with a sauce that tastes like ketchup? If you said«No way!» you haven’t been to Jonesy’s. Jonesy’s is possibly one of the WORST Mexican restaurants in this area! The food was cold, the«picante sauce» tasted like ketchup mixed with red pepper flakes, the meat in the«tacos» had no seasoning… it was your worst nightmare of school«Mexican» food come back to haunt you. I’ve been to some very good, as well as some so-so Mexican places, but even the lowest Taco Bell or Taco John’s is better than Jonesy’s. When I got home from there, I spent about the next hour in the bathroom, sick as a dog. Why did I go to such a reject of a restaurant in the first place? Friends who were afraid of real Mexican suggested it. Basically, if you want good food, avoid Jonesy’s. If you want to purge your system of everything you’ve eaten for the past 72 hours, Jonesy’s will certainly do that. I’m not going back there again.

I have fond memories of eating at Jonesy’s with my friends. Like 10 – 15 years ago though. I found myself in the area and decided to stop in for lunch and see if Jonesy’s is as good as I remembered. Sadly, no. The restaurant was dirty. The food overpriced and mediocre at best. I ordered a combo plate which comprised of one of their signature puffy tacos, a pork tamale and corn chips and guac. The chips came right out of a bag and were very, very salty. The guacamole was also quite salty. Add the two together and wait for your blood pressure to rise. The tamale was fine, a little dry for my taste. The taco was also, well, just fine. Unseasoned, greasy ground beef with lettuce and cheese on top. I opted for the«spicy» salsa, but wound up with a bottle of some sort of runny tomato-based liquid. And for $ 10 before tip, it was just not worth it. Nothing impressive at all. Jonesy’s has a small town charm to it. The server was excellent and had a great rapport with her customers and coworkers. Five starts there. Everything else about Jonesy’s is just a bit too shabby and outdated for my tastes.

In pain. The Unilocal stars are misleading. Worst place I’ve ever eaten, unless you like ground beef, velveeta-like cheese, guacamole out of a tube and lettuce. The queso was clumpy and look like either American cheese or velveeta. The menu says avocado as an option; it’s guacamole out of a tube. I couldn’t eat mine. Our stomachs hurt for the rest if the night, from just trying to eat what we could. Never again.

This place is absolutely horrid. I have never understood why anyone would eat here. Greasy tacos, bad cheese dip, guacamole out of a tube, etc etc. If your choice is this place or Taco Bell do yourself a favor and eat TB. There are so many awesome mexican restaurants in this town there is no reason to eat this.

Hole in the wall taco joint inside a neighborhood near Pacific and 60th. The atmosphere is nothing to speak of. The feel is a lot like an older fast food joint but the service is great! Our server was the friendliest and most bubbly I’ve had in a long time, and that gives this restaurant the most points. The taco was that of the«puffy taco» fad which I’ve noticed is a huge deal in Omaha. The beef was a bit on the bland side but I love that you can tell it’s real beef and the guy has to be back there cooking it in a skillet like you would be at home. Also had an enchilada which was huge!!! Same beef but the sauce made it yummy. Not at all your typical enchilada sauce, it was more like a thin beef gravy but it really amped it up. The pork tamale was better than expected but if the masa is done right you can’t really mess those up! The only thing I really couldn’t even eat was the rice and beans. You can do without those and just order ala carte. Price is worth it, $ 10 and I took home over half of the food so it will make a great lunch tomorrow. Come here if you don’t want anything fancy but a home cooked meal and friendly server.

This is one of my favorite places to eat in Omaha. The portions are huge and cheese dip is amazing. The prices are fair and great service

Don’t judge a book by its cover. The place may not look like much but the food is excellent. It certainly isn’t authentic mexican by any means but if you like alot of cheese and quality beef its an excellent choice. I love the beef enchilada and the flour tacos.

I am surprised at the lack of good reviews for this neighborhood taco house. I think the food is great. It isn’t fancy or unexpected, instead it is exactly what you would expect when you walk up to the place. Large portions, lots of cheese sauce and home-made flour chips(yum!). I recommend just the flour tacos, basic but delicious. The enchiladas are huge and a little heavy overall. If you are a chips and cheese fan, try the meat and cheese dip(basically a tasty velveeta style dip). The one major disappointment about Jonesy’s is their hot sauce. They have two, mild and more mild. I like a little spice and couldn’t seem to find it. If you like cheap, local, kind of divey type places, Jonesy’s is great. If not, go to Romeos(a bigger restaurant with the same food).

My curiosity was piqued from the moment I moved into the neighborhood. A taco house? Jonesy? When I finally did bite, I was crushed. The beef burrito was bland, and nothing but beef-filling inside. Topped with Kraft singles. I say beef ‘filling’ because I don’t know where they source their meat at all, and it is so finely ground it hardly resembled hamburger. Drunk food for sure, but only for a really good drunk. Six beers and up.

I’ve seen Jonsey’s many a time while getting gas or heading to its neighbor, the Trackside Lounge. Been meaning to try for a while, and I wasn’t disappointed. The plywood sign out front kind of sums up what I expected and experienced at Jonsey’s. Nachos covered in ¼″ of what I assessed to be a velveeta/cheddar combination: check. Tacos that ‘most people’ order two of, but are huge(Americanized): check. Beans and rice prepared from scratch daily(what): check. Chips and salsa are a la carte, and apparently I made a big mistake by not ordering them. You can select corn or flour chips(or combo) as well. I think if a ‘next time’ happens, I’ll be getting the flour since the corn were the same type that comes in bulk bags and are served at baseball games. There was some watery hot sauce on the table, which I loaded up the taco with eventually, but I think I would have been better suited to the salsa. This is also the kind of place that offers sour cream in packages and makes you order onion and jalapeño on the side(all of which I did). Onions looked like they’d been sitting out for a while and the jalapenos were the soggy can type. The taco shells were good, but insides were just too plain… and the meat didn’t seem very flavorful(seasonings were strangely absent visually). Service was fine for a rather busy lunch hour, but I guess what all of this sums up to, I’d try Jonsey’s again… but only if someone else suggested it.

Great food, large portions, average prices. You can even call ahead and it’ll be ready for you to pick up! Seating is some-what limited as it can get busy at times.

I’ve been here 3 – 4 times and it’s consistently good. I’ve only had the enchilada’s and taco’s but found each to be pretty good. I enjoyed the large portions. The atmosphere leaves a lot to be desired(it’s kind of like eating in a 7 – 11) so I wouldn’t take a date. But if you want good, fairly priced food, give it a shot. It’s been a couple of years since I’ve been there and only at lunch but hopefully, it’s still as good as it was.

Ambiance? Nah. Food? Yah! Lots of food. I can eat more than most african lions, but the combo plate with a side of chips and dip were unfinishable. The flavors are what I’d call Amerimex. Not enough veggies for Texmex. Ubiquitous use of some kind of cheesey chili powered«gravy» was welcome. The fried floud tortilla tacos are VERY good. That is what I’d eat again. Three of those would have been just fine. Live and learn!
