Once upon a time used to be my favorite place to eat. Unfortunately food is no longer of the same quality. Still reasonable for those seeking to taste indian cuisine. Lunch buffet is pretty good. Reasonably priced.

Perhaps the buffet should be ready at 11 as the hours indicate. Wait staff seems completely confused at all times.

I bought the voucher of $ 20 at New India Garden, Omaha from Unilocal.Thought this will be an excellent deal. They wholly ignored the deal, and simply fabricated the conditions. Nowhere were these conditions mentioned at Unilocal or elsewhere. 1) Voucher is not for buffet. 2) We have to make a purchase of $ 37 and have to pay a gratuity of 40%, then they might consider giving some discounts. I went there along with my wife on the 01/20/2014 and ordered a buffet for both. Worst customer service ever. The owner’s wife was waiting on the customers. She was a rude and grumpy faced lady. She was standing in the passage way of the buffet, so we felt annoyed as she was staring at us while we were taking the foods. All the foods were covered, and we were the only customers there. Once a Caucasian lady came in for lunch, she uncovered all the foods for her. Seemed that she was racially biased and stereotypical towards us, as we are colored people. I recommend all not to take the service of New India Garden, humiliating us on Martin Luther King Day ! AVOID by all means, and dont buy this deal, as this will be disregarded with imaginary clauses.

One word: gross. Went for a quick lunch about 11.30 on a Monday, thinking there would be more people. Empty, we were the only ones there! My brother and I went to the makeshift«buffet» of «Indian» that was at least 2 day old. Soupy butter chicken, far more than it should be, dribbling down the plates. Rice was okay. But was not cooked fully. Nam bread was good. Cauliflower Marsala whatever was gross. I didn’t dare touch the shrimp, or anything else seafoody. We could hear shouting from the kitchen in Indian, and the host kept asking us if the food was«no good», why as that if it is fresh? I felt like the host was watching us, asking us «why you no eat, it no good?» And asking us a lot of personal questions, telling us they are open for dinner at 5.30 and we need to come. Then when it came to pay, she charged 1.89 on his card, then we told her and she said oh another $ 20.00. NEVERAGAIN.

I was thinking that this is the same India Garden from near L street that moved here. This review combines both a take out experience and a dine-in experience. Take out: I had ordered chicken fried rice and chicken curry with naan. All were really tasty and in good quantity for the price I paid. I would rate the food(5⁄5). Dine-in: I went for a Saturday lunch buffet and was surprised to note that the place was empty. Usually I don’t see this unless the restaurant is bad or is purely a take out only joint. Nevertheless I went in and had the buffet coz I’ve heard that the original India Garden buffet is really good. Good: Chana, spinach pakora, goat biriyani, gulab jamon, chicken curry, goat curry, weekend buffet is only $ 11. So-so/Bad: dal makhni(just okay), naan(very tough), carrot halwa(needs sweet), chicken tikka(weird taste), goat pieces in biriyani and curry had so much fat that was not cleaned, tandoori chicken(was rubber like — very unlike tandoori chicken). I would rate the buffet only(1⁄5). So overall I gave it 3⁄5 though I doubt if I will ever return considering the buffet experience.

I was so happy the day we found India Garden. I’d been looking for a new Indian place since Dhaba closed, and was really excited for a new place to try! My excitement was short lived. The service was rude, the food was all mismarked and a lot of it was inedible. The water had garbage floating in it and when I asked for a clean glass, he dumped out my cup and refilled it. The garbage was coming from the ice as it melted. It was all so filthy! The goat had shards of bone in it and the chicken tikka masala was all burned. We tried to believe this was a one-time occurrence, but we returned at closing the next week, not realizing how early they closed. They were taking the food off of the line. We asked what happens to the food that isn’t eaten and the man laughed and said ‘you’ll eat it tomorrow… or the next day’ Nope. Not me… I won’t eat it again EVER.

Wow, I really wish I would’ve read the review from 5÷3÷2013 before going to this restaurant. We had the same experience. I should start by saying Indian food is our favorite type of cuisine, and we’ve never had a bad indian food experience in any city– even our lowest ranked experiences would be «passable.» I shold also note that my husband is in the food services industry, we are not picky eaters, we love authentic and hole-in-the-wall joints, and we love to support small businesses. At India Garden, on a Sunday evening, there was a table of 3 besides us and only one additional table set. They obviously weren’t expecting many customers. There was no music, which was awkward because everyone could hear our conversation and we could hear the owner arguing with the waitress about getting the other group’s order wrong. My linen napkin had dried food on it, so my husband switched it out with a napkin on the empty set table– to find out it also was dirty. We threw the dirty napkin on the empty table, only to watch the waitress later walk by, refold it, and put it back on the empty place setting. The floor had food all under the tables– probably from lunch, but i didnt understand why the waitress stood around and didnt sweep between her serving tasks. Moreover, she could hardly understand or speak English(we wondered if she is new to the US?) so she couldn’t really answer our questions. She almost acted as though it was her first day, the manager often had to tell her what to do, and after finally serving our food, she stood and stared at us and the other table from across the small dining room. The papadum was wet with grease, and the sauces/chutneys literally tasted like watered down McDonalds barbecue and honey mustard sauces, with a few spices added– not exaggerating. It was weird. We ordered veg pakora, but when we got it(30mins later), it was cold and slightly soggy… Probably because she got the other table’s order wrong, so they didnt want to serve our table’s food before their corrected order, since they were there first. Our naan was bland and somewhat dry, the malai kofta cream was okay but the kofta itself wasn’t thoroughly cooked through and was greasy. There was nothing WRONG with the saag paneer but it wasn’t good to us. The raita was fine though a little more sour than we’d prefer. We didn’t eat even half the meal, and the waitress looked incredulous when we declined a box(we are in a hotel anyway), and we felt horrible wasting so much food– especially when they obviously spent so long cooking it in the back. The whole experience was just demoralizing. Looking back on it, if I wouldn’t have felt so rude just up-and-leaving and I could’ve known how awkward and unappetizing the experience would be, I would’ve just left $ 40 cash on the table, allowed the employees to eat our food, and would’ve gone elsewhere. I usually feel like people post on Unilocal to complain, but I just don’t want anyone else to waste $ 40, and I want the manager know that he needs a new cook and waitress.

First impressions are lasting impressions, right? Tonight my husband and I enjoyed takeout from New India Garden. We enjoyed both of our dishes — chicken tikka and chicken tikka korma. The price is right and the food is tasty. I especially appreciated the friendly staff when I ordered and picked up our food. We look forward to trying New India Garden again.

First tried visiting this restaurant per World Herald food reviews recommendation for the chicken tikki korma. When we got to the location it was out of business with no further information posted. A couple of months later my wife gets a coupon email and one of the offers was for India Garden. So we tried to find the new location. Wish we wouldn’t have! Terrible atmosphere. The room was freezing and all the customers were wearing coats. The owner was not concerned. The service was slow and the waitress had no waitressing skills and absolutely no personality. The silverware was dirty. No one at the table could stomach the fish pakora appetizer, so we sent it back. The owner was not concerned and it of course showed up on our bill. Most of the food was marginal at best.(The chicken tikki korma and the chicken soup were good). At one point we sat there with burning mouths and all water glasses were completely empty. When the bill came we gave the waitress our credit card and our coupon. There was no gratuity on the bill. When the CC. receipt came back the owner had subtracted the coupon but now he added a 30% gratuity for 3 people. When I confronted him about this he kind of mumbled that it was part of the coupon. When I asked him to show me, he just stood there with a stupid look on his face and said nothing. We eat Indian and/or Mediterranean food 5 — 10 times a month. It is our favorite cuisine. Worst Indian restaurant experience ever. VERYSKETCHYPLACE

I loved this Indian Restaurant! My boyfriend, our good friend, and I had buffet lunch here on a sunday and my first impression was the clean open feel of the restaurant. There was ample seating, it was the perfect temperature to keep us warm from the cold air outside, and the staff was nice too. What we enjoyed a lot was the chicken tikka masala! It wasn’t too spicy at all and the chicken was tender and yummy. I enjoyed trying new dishes and what makes it helpful is that it was a buffet self serve style. This was a nice way to try new food a little bit at a time and going back for more later. I definitely went up for more of the chicken tikka masala, a couple of dessert items, and other dishes that I can’t remember the name of. If you’re new to Indian food this is the perfect day and time to go. Sundays, lunch time. It’s a reasonably priced buffet with enough food to fill you up for the rest of the day. I would definitely buffet this place again. =)
