The service offered was standard issue, the guy got me what I needed and took my money like a seasoned veteran. The customer service however was awful. When I asked if they could install the new brake line I bought the reply was«Not today, this isn’t Jiffy Lube, you can’t just walk in and expect to get your bike worked on.» I feel like I’m an average person and it takes a lot to offend me, but the tone of this man(Mike) was absurd. I have lived in Portland OR and Salt Lake City among other places and every other bike shop was not only able to work on my bike the day of, but if they couldn’t they weren’t unappreciative pricks about it. Sounds pretty entitled for a middle aged man working at a small time bike shop in Omaha NE of all places. The other guy was awesome though, perhaps take the gamble and hope for the best.

Of all the local bicycle shops, Olympia Cycle has been around the longest. I believe that’s easily a testament to the quality of service you’ll get as a customer as well as the fair prices they offer. You can get everything you need here — refurbished bikes, new bikes, bike repairs and bike accessories fit for the casual rider all the up to the marathon cyclist. Plus the atmosphere can’t be beat. Old creaky floors, brick walls, 100+ year-old building, et al. Olympia Cycle anchors the area of 40th and Hamilton streets, keeping a neighborhood that has always had great potential for rehab from completely going to pot. There’s something sort of noble about that, even if they’re unintentionally doing it.

A premier cycling experience! The bikes here are out of my budget but this place is without a doubt a legit place for your cycling needs. They do not cater to casual cyclist very well because the accessories they don’t offer the cute streamers or baskets or things like that but if you need clip in shoes or a cool jersey or other repair items this is your place! I visited this location because I purchased a bike a Costco(much more in my budget) and had issues assembling it. They were quick and skilled at repairing my bike.

Just what is with these people anyway. They seem to think that they’re nuclear scientist or some such & not just mini grease-monkeys! Is it because of this self knowledge that they create, in their own minds, this major case of ATTITUDE? You know it’s not only at this store, [ the Trek store people are even worse ], or in this town that I’ve experienced this. Actually when I lived in Chicago, the bike shop people there were even more Stupid than here about, if you can believe that. One bike shop in Cleveland, where I once lived, had to have the Only Normal person I’ve ever met in the bike world in so far as he wasn’t a total condescending JERK but one of the most honest, kind, helpful bike shop owners I’ve ever met!

The staff treats me like I’m an idiot every time I am in here. I do not care for their elitist attitudes, I just needed some tubes. Go to Dundee Cycles or Green Street instead, you will be treated better.

This is THE original Omaha bike shop. If you really know your stuff, you can rummage through classic old parts to personalize your bike. If you’re a novice, they can really help you find what you need– and they have it. Expect only the highest quality bike goods ‘n gear. Looking for rare Campy? A sharp road ride? Sweet Pearl gloves? Funky day-glow 1990 Shimano clipless shoes, yes. There may be a bit of a gruff bike-dude attitude, but it comes from years of knowledge. All of the guys that work here are self-taught/apprentices and their personal expertise shows. These guys have gone out of their way to make my biking life more enjoyable. They will kindly order you what you need if they don’t have it as well. If you are a newbie, serious commuter, mountain+road fanatic, or just looking for leisure rides, Brian — the tall guy — is definitely the one to talk to. Yes, go here. One of the last bike shops in Omaha without that competitive, corporate, warehouse feel.

Riding a bike provides substantial amounts of enjoyment compared to other forms of exercise. Even if you don’t ride a bike for a very long time, starting up again is so easy that it’s become the prototype example for things that are not difficult even when you haven’t done them in a while. The problem with most bike shops is that the people who are employed there think that because they wear the same restrictive shorts and yellow bracelet as Lance Armstrong that they are in fact the same level of cyclist. The staff at Olympia cycle are helpful and friendly, and never make you feel like an idiot for ripping the derailer off of your bike trying to go all X-games with your Trek mountain bike when everyone knows how dumb that is. The prices are competitive and the advice, like don’t do that with your bike every again,

I’ve had my bike serviced there, and have made some purchases. They are super friendly, knowledgeable, careful, and competent. Never a bad experience.

I’ve never purchased anything at Olympia, but most of my buddies who are hardcore cyclists get all their service work done here. I have one buddy who just bought a bike here last year and she loves it. They have tons of experience and know what they’re doing. Great selection of bikes, and all accessories, clothing, etc. When we started looking for bikes 2 years ago, we were there for easily 90 minutes just talking about bikes with the sales guy(who is also a service guy — so you know he knows what he’s talking about) telling him what we were looking for and he was giving us great tips on style, fit, price, etc. I’ve had my old Schwinn Varsity in for service there before and they were completely honest with me and saved me about $ 75 in service I asked for that I really didn’t need. Honesty like that is not always easy to find. If you’re looking for a bike, definitely check here.
