Very quaint place. It use to be China Gate when I was a kid and I always loved their food so I decided to stop by and see how this place was. The décor has changed a bit since it was China Gate. There wasn’t anyone in the store but the real thing is the food. The food was excellent. I ordered the combo fried rice and it was really delicious. The only downside is the guy charged me for dinner price when it was 2:50 and dinner didn’t start til 3. I asked him and he said it was almost 3 so I pay dinner price. I didn’t push the issue. I will be back though.

Very small restaurant located next to a grocery store. We visited here on a Friday night and there was not a soul. The owner basically took the order, cook and serve the meal. I guess nothing is wrong with being too efficient. We both ordered phở(combo and rare beef). The serving was big and more than enough. However the broth was not very clear and there was not much of a wow factor here. Overall this is an okay restaurant. I’m still on my search for better Vietnamese restaurant in Omaha. Btw, the owner went outside to smoke right after he serve our foods. I’m pretty positive he didn’t wash his hands also. Lol

The Phở Beef Soup was every bit as good as what I order at the Sun Kay restaurant in New York City’s Chinatown. Rice noodles are a great change. Property is clean with a friendly responsive staff.

I had the rare beef phó here for my first time, since I didn’t want to drive too far to my favorite location in La Vista. I’ll start out by saying the broth had really good flavor and the server was attentive and welcoming. The rest is not so good. The limes on the side had some stuff on the skin that I had to knock off. The noodles were so stuck together, it took a while for me to shake them up to even be able to pull them out, and when I did, they even broke. The beef was one of the cheapest, toughest cuts of beef I’ve ever seen in a phó. It seemed tender at first, but after trying to chew it for so long, and not being able to break it down, I had to spit it out. The bean sprouts didn’t look too fresh. I don’t plan on going back, and will rather drive a little farther to get some better phó

We tried this place on a cold winter day as I was craving phở and this was the closest place to our house. We ordered veggie phở, rare beef phở and fresh spring rolls to go. The phở itself was pretty good. Take-out phở is probably not ideal as everything comes separate. They packaged the broth alone and then there were two takeout containers with the meat, veggies, noodles and toppings(basil, cilantro, lime, jalepenos). I’m always looking for phở to have a really great broth with depths of flavor and this one was just okay. It satisfied my craving, but I probably will try some place else next time. What brings down the rating was the fresh spring rolls. The peanut sauce that comes with the rolls is very good. The rolls have rice noodles, iceberg lettuce and two shrimp per roll. They were okay, but adding mint/cilantro or other veggies would bring more flavor. The shrimp is what made them inedible. After taking a few bites, I noticed the shrimp were not cleaned or deveined. Though this isn’t harmful, I am grossed out by shrimp that is not deveined. We threw out 75% of the rolls.

The food is not good at all but passable(barely). The place was at least very clean and the staff was friendly enough. Perhaps the Phở is a better thing to get, but I went for a chinese entrée and was disappointed on 3 counts — quality, quantity and price. I had the pepper steak, which was not well seasoned, came in a smaller portion than I see at virtually every other low-end Asian restaurant, and what portion there was came in very light on the beef, which was tough and a bit gristly. I’d also recommend against the spring rolls, which were over 90% lettuce and expensive on that basis alone. This place is not horrible, for sure, just hugely unsatisfying. The weal location is what it is and does not help things as I suspect very few people would think to pull into this weird little shopping center for anything other than its grocery store, which incidentally is also marginal at best. I won’t be coming back.

Pretty good for my first time trying Phở and visiting this restaurant. I ordered the rare beef phở which had tasty broth and was provided with the additional veggies to add. I do wish the beef would have arrived looking a little more rare than what I received. Maybe next time it will. The prices are also not bad! I’ll definitely come again and try other dishes.

Revisited Phở Viet this evening. Cold weather kept the crowd down. Other than a take-out customer, we were the only diners at approx 7pm. Nevertheless, PV continues to dish out scrumptious authentic Asian dishes at reasonable prices. This time I chose the Garlic Fried Noodles with chicken. Thick green noodles mixed with nuts, pan-fried veggies and lots of chicken. Not as spicy as I expected, but still extremely flavorful and filling. The wif ordered Vegetable Phở. The plate full of raw Phở-fixins arrived first. It was hard to avoid nibbling on this prior to the giant soup bowl delivery. Once on the table, she dumped the remaining sprouts and stuff into the soup, creating a veritable smörgåsbord stew of veggies and Asian noodles. I will return soon, if not for the fast service and reasonable prices, then for the tacky décor and low key feel of this excellent spot.

As a Vietnamese American who has lived in California for most of my life, where there are a lot of quality Vietnamese restaurants, I was not expecting to find decent phở in Omaha. I was pleasantly surprised when I came to Phở Viet. I had their combination beef phở. The beef was tender and delicious and the broth was not too salty(many phở places have this issue). It also wasn’t overpriced compared to other places in Omaha, such as the Downtown area. Plus, the phở came with a generous portion of bean sprouts, Vietnamese basil, jalepenos and limes for your phở fixings. The edmame is also very good and comes sauteed with fried garlic. Glad I discovered this place.

I was a very big fan of this restaurant. The Vietnamese Sandwich is UNBELIEVABLY good for a mere $ 5. The service can take a while, but that is easily avoided by calling ahead 30 minutes before you get there. The employees there are all wonderful and extremely kind, so please be patient with them. Enjoy! Just went back again recently and got the Vietnamese Sandwich AND the hot & sour soup. Maybe not the best combo, since both are hot and spicy, but they come at an amazing deal, are amazingly good, and leave you full.

Me and 4 other friends ordered phõ and we are big time phở professionals, the broth was drenched in oil. It was the oiliest phõ I have ever had from any restaurant. Also no condiments. No napkins on table or given, and wow did we Wait for a 30+ minutes for our phõ. I will Not be recommending this place.

The Phở was good, but not the wings. This is probably the best place for Phở in North O, the broth was rich and flavorful and even though I had takeout, I was provided with more than enough extras to add to my soup. I will say that when I usually order Phở, i always get my beef rare, so it will not get over done in the hot broth. I learned a very valuable lesson that night, don’t get rare meat for take out. Basically it was slices of absolutely raw beef, which had I eaten in, would not have been a problem, but for take home, the broth cooled down enough that it could not cook the beef, it barely warmed it. Fiona, my dog enjoyed the raw beef very very much. So, I saw these rave reviews about their viet chicken, so I had to have it. Maybe I got something different than what the reviews were about, or it was a bad night(it was kinda of late) but the chicken was awful. The pieces of chicken looked like they came from a pigeon and not a full grown chicken and they had been fried way past hard and there was no flavor other than the syrupy soupy sweet mess they were floating in. I actually ended up tossing them. Will I go there again — definitely for Phở, maybe I will try something else, like the drunken noodles next time. But I can personally tell you that the Phở is a good bet and eat it in for the full phở experience.

I don’t have much to add to the average reviews already posted. The food is decent enough, and I am a repeat customer. I agree there are odd smells from time to time, either from the exhaust setup or whatever. I think the owner would help himself by upgrading the joint with new booths and a new paint job. I have had better Vietnamese food in other cities, but it does hit the spot from time to time.

Phở Viet is a Mom-and-Pop shop, and the Mom-and-Pop are Millennials. They are very friendly and go out of their way to make you feel welcomed. I always order phở tai, but Phở Viet’s phở tai is special. It is said that a phở should be judged by its broth, and that’s where they excel! The broth has a visible amount of oil which adds to its savoriness and richness. To top it off, Phở Viet uses meat is thick, hearty, and generous. None of this delicately-sliced-business here! While I love herbs, the broth and beef are so perfect that adding any more herbs ruins its perfection. I only add sprouts for texture and jalapeños for heat. My husband loves their lo mein. I have only had a bit of their lo mein, but the bit I had was ASTRONOMICAL. Their lo mein is OUTOFTHISWORLD! The vegetables are freshly chopped — you can hear the cook chopping the veg right after you order. The lo mein has a complex savoriness that is unique and remarkable. It’s like a fresh party in your mouth. Then there’s the melon candy that is included with the receipt. And I am not telling you about the melon candy because I kind of want to hoard it for myself. There was one time that my husband and I went to Phở Viet and the proprietors gave us Chinese desserts for free. Wow! It was all so good. Everything is good here.

This is one of our favorite hole-in-the-wall noodle places. My mother-in-law is Korean and we like to take her every time she’s in town and we all love it. I usually get the spicy soup because I like it hot but all of their noodle bowls seem to be good. The wings we had one time while we were there were okay but you could tell that’s not their specialty.

Probably the best banh mi in Omaha. The phở is also very good. The owner has the banh mi bread made especially for him so it’s always fresh. I recommend adding an egg to your sandwich. The pork he makes for the banh mi is outta this world. This place isn’t always the fastest, but the food is so worth the wait.

Phở Viet definitely falls into the hole-in-a-wall category of restaurants, which most of us know can offer some of the best food in town. However, my bowl of beef phở was decent, but not the best I’ve had locally. While good overall, there’s just something about the broth that falls slightly flat. Like the flavors were muddled together in a little ball and didn’t have room to open up, spread out and assert themselves. Still, Phở Viet’s no frills location and décor has a charm to it I love. Plus it’s very reasonably priced for what you get. I’ve got my eye on their banh mi for my next visit.

So far, the best phở I’ve had in Nebraska. I ordered the phở tai. The broth was perfectly seasoned and had great depth of flavor– I would even go out on a limb to say that it is better than my mom’s(sorry mom). Service is quick and the couple that runs that place is very nice. The lady doesn’t know much English, but the husband speaks well enough. They didn’t overcook the beef or cut it too thick like most places around here. The spring rolls are good, but they don’t add pork in it, which I think is kind of weird. The restaurant itself is nothing fancy. Just a regular, divey looking phở place, which is what I’m used to having lived in Little Saigon for years. I will come back!

I was excited to try a new phở place in town to continue my adventures sampling phở from every Omaha restaurant that I know serves it. So far, there has not been a clear winning bowl here in Omaha, and sadly Phở Viet also doesn’t make the cut. The restaurant is run by a couple– the wife takes orders and waitresses and the husband cooks. We ate alone in the dining area on a Sunday midday. Some perks are friendly service, easy to find and easy parking, and quick food delivery kitchen to table. Some cons include flies in the restaurant(sometimes can’t be helped I understand) the weary appearance of the clashing wall paint and aged booths, and at some point we could smell cigarette smoke and I can’t pinpoint where it was coming from. I really can’t stand that. The phở was a good size for 8.50, I will say that. The noddles were a little clumpy and I had to physically separate them with my chopsticks. The phở bo broth was aromatic and tasty yet an unsettling dark color. As mentioned in other reviews there was ample meat in my combo dish. I think this place would fulfill a craving and it certainly is easier than making it myself but I am still searching for that go-to phở place here in Omaha.

I highly recommend trying this place out. The owner and his wife pretty much run this establishment by themselves. Small businesses FTW! It’s a little hard to find if you’re not looking for it but it’s in the same plaza as No-Frills on the North East side(hope this helps). We ordered two bowls of combination phở and a thai tea boba drink. We also got two free egg rolls with our entrée(promotion until Aug 21, 2014). To me, the egg rolls weren’t super special but hey, it was free. I would have preferred a more pungent and savory sauce to pair with them as well, bring on the nuoc mam please! The phở was a little on the oiler side but that doesn’t bother me too much because the broth was rich and tasty. It was also abundant in garnishes(cilantro and green onion) which is what I prefer. Beef meatballs were the full meatball but cut in half, instead of just thin slices of meatballs like at Vietnamese Asian. There was a lot of meat in the combination phở(I had to give some to my friend because I couldn’t finish). They also provide an ample amount of the usual suspects: bean sprouts, fresh jalepeno, and mint leaves to add to your phở. The only thing that fell flat was probably the boba, which were either soft or too hard. The thai tea though was delicious, I would probably stick to the drinks sans boba. Upon leaving I tipped generously 25% since the owners were so nice. They only opened 4 months ago(April 2014), and so I wanted to take as many pictures as possible to share on Unilocal. As I left, I was taking pictures of the menu on the window to post on Unilocal and the owner runs out to hand me a take out menu. So sweet! :) It’s the little gestures that count, and I’m totally sold on this place coz of it. If you’re in the market for a new phở place defnitely check this out. And at $ 8.50 a bowl it’s a pretty good deal.
