Simple but worth it! Great flavor. The location is very unassuming, adjacent to a grocery store. Not much in regards to service but the food is good quality and authentic.

You order and pay up front at the counter. The menu selection is small, yet sufficient. The drink selection consists of a few canned sodas and bottled water(so you’re either buying one of those, not drinking, or? bringing your own drink). I ordered the combo kabob platter. While waiting for the food, the gentleman brought out a complimentary pita and hummus plate :) On the plate: The salad was nice– fresh romaine, tomato, olives, onion and pickles. I squeezed lime juice on my salad, but almost used the tzatziki sauce. The meat came out on rice. The chicken was excellent. .tender and juicy– I cut it with my plastic fork! The beef kabob was good– it had a nice flavor. The Lamb had excellent flavoring, but did not come out in cubes like the menu said– instead it looked more like a bat wing… it had some small bones and was also kind of tough. The green chutney was delicious and pretty spicy… I put it on everything. Good overall, but won’t be rushing back

Pretty good place. The chicken is soft and succulent(but I always feel a little bit… off…after eating it). Tried the falafel, which was A-ok too. The french fries were just frozen crinkle cut ones, nothing special. The restaurant is clean but kind of grimy. I would recommend you take your food to go. I’ve had two experiences here where the other customers stare and make me feel overall uncomfortable. Once, a guy offered to buy me a drink(they only have cans of pop, –_-)

This restaurant was difficult to find! No signage, except for the grocery store. Sort of a little hole-in-the wall, attached to a middle eastern grocery store and halal meat market. The staff members were all very friendly and attentive. I had the chicken kabob, which was very flavorful. Rice was very good. Hummus was good. Salad dressing was just fair. Naan was very, very good! For the price you pay, you get a lot of food. My dining partner had the beef kabob and did not care for it. I did take a bite of it. I thought it was OK, but definitely preferred the chicken. I worry that if this establishment doesn’t do more marketing, thy may not make it. My group of 3 were the only ones there for the lunch hour. And that’s a shame because they do put out a good product. Grocery store is very interesting, with lots of ethnic products. I enjoyed going through the store.

I love little off the beaten path, down to earth places like this that basically just stick to what they know how to do best. I’m not one to comment on what the places looked like or any of that. Just quality, value, service. This place has all 3. After seeing pictures of their food I was very much looking forward to trying everything. I was especially looking forward to some creamy authentic hummus. Unfortunately, the hummus was the only thing to disappoint. Not horrible, just bland and not very creamy. But not store bought, I won’t eat that stuff! Didn’t matter because I was won over by everything else. I got the combo platter. One beef, one lamb, one chicken. All tasty and impressive. As everyone else states the rice was flavorful as well. Not just a filler but an excellent side dish. The naan was amazing mostly because I loved the green sauce it came with. No idea what it was but limey– cilantroey spicy, yummy! Platter also came with a side of one of my favs, tzatziki sauce. I was confused by the salad with no dressing. I’d’ve like to have some kind of specialty vinaigrette on it to eat as a side but between all the other sauces you can figure out something. I kept ripping my naan, placing meat and sauce on it and then topping it with the salad. With the Unilocal deal we got 3 combo platters for $ 15. But I’d gladly go back and pay the full price of $ 10 each. Both my girlfriends agreed. Plenty of food for that price! It took about 15 minutes to get our food which tells me it’s fresh, made to order, nothing rushed for shortcuts. Fine by me!!! Guy who cooked our food came out to ask how everything was and see if we’d like another sauce. Friendly welcoming service! Tops with me!

Employees friendly and knowledgable. I didn’t think the chicken had much flavor. Maybe even some dark meat? The lamb was good. Rice good. Def fresh and made to order. Meat amount on all dishes we ordered was a bit smaller then other Mediterranean/Greek restaurants in the area — I’ll go again to try another dish.

I came for a work lunch and got the falafel plate. I will caveat this with I’m pretty critical of middle eastern food as it is one of my favorites and hard to find in the Midwest. It was soo much food, I could barely finish it and it was very flavorful. The staff was very friendly and the afghan equivalent to chimmichurri sauce that they serve with the naan will single-handedly leave you longing to come back. My coworkers got the mixed grill a most struggled to finish it because it was soo much food, but all said that it was very good and that they would come back. On a side note, they had a little afghan/Mediterranean market attached and it had great prices on spices, everything else was about the same price as you would find in the specialty aisles of the local supermarkets.

I really love this place. Good portions, great flavored, super nice staff. The prices are fair. We usually go with the combo because the chicken is Amazing, the lamb is good, the beef is just all right, a little dry but good with the accompanying aides. The salad is not dressed. I mix the yogurt sauce with a little of the cilantro side and it’s fine. I enjoy perusing the grocery next door. Pick up some rosé water and add a few drops to strawberries the next time you have shortcake or any fruit really. I get it to go because the restaurant really doesn’t offer much in atmosphere. Well worth trying!

Chicken Kabab and the rice were really good. The salad could have come with a dressing but I can eat greens raw. The naan was the best thing with the green«chutney» and tasty hummus. I would recommend this place for casual lunch or dinner. The ambiance is not really«date» like.

No Doug you’re not the only one. First off if you’re trying to find this place make sure you turn onto 119th street. It’s the little side street between the Big Fred’s Pizza and Gandolfo’s. We had a heck of a time finding the correct place(maybe we’re just dumb). It’s inside the grocery market on the left side. There is a small sign on the door that says Sizzl’n Kebabs. The place itself is small and a bit run down and filled with the smell of burned oil which I assume is from the very hot stoves they use. There are a handful of tables to eat at and the one we picked was a little wobbly, so fair warning. That being said, I’m not detracting rating for the décor. The guy who took our order(which I found out later owns the place according to Unilocal) was very friendly and kind to us. He struck up a conversation with my mother-in-law and gave us suggestions. I got it in my head I wanted to try the lamb and my husband wanted a bit of everything. The gentlemen working suggested the #6 combo platter which is a mix of everything so my husband got that and I got a #3 platter(combo) which was lamb shish kabobs. The platters(combos) come with salad, rice, a cilantro sauce, hummus, and fresh naan bread. Drinks are extra, including water which is in a bottle, so plan ahead. The food is VERY seasoned and hard to get down without some form of liquids. We sat down and after maybe 7 minutes we got our food. My mother-in-law and I shared the lamb, and my husband got his mixture. I have to be honest, the lamb was gross. It was tough and full of connective tissues that I couldn’t really chew. Thank goodness my husband got that combo platter because the only thing I really thought was yummy was the chicken which was probably some of the most tender/juicy chicken I’ve ever had. The ground beef meat log that comes with the #6 was… strange. and while my husband ate it he didn’t enjoy it. The salad doesn’t have any dressing and the sauce they give you is what I believe is a mix of cilantro, chili peppers, lime juice, and water. The heat builds quickly and isn’t really good for a salad. The hummus seems freshly made because it’s kind of chunky. It lacked salt and after adding some was okay, but it lacked any real«umph». The naan bread is where it’s at though. At first we were confused because the food came out without it. If this happens, don’t worry, they make it fresh and it comes out super crispy and yummy. This might be what saved this place from a 1 star rating honestly. The rice was also under salted but VERY seasoned with I think garahm masla or curry powder. In fact, they seemed to sprinkle it on EVERYTHING. The sauce container, the salad, the rice, the meat. All of it. Only my naan bread escaped the spice sprinkles since it came out second. Truthfully I’m happy… the seasoning was over powering. So to recap: get the chicken, expect LOTS of seasoning in just about everything, and nom out on the naan bread. Would I go here again? Probably not honestly unless someone REALLY wanted to go, then I would just get #1 sandwich, which is my suggestion to you. ps before I forget — the olives are NOT pitted… you have been warned.

I stopped here once. Maybe my mistake was that I stopped in shortly before closing. However, I ordered a chicken gyro sandwich and it was bad. The chicken was almost completely fat and they managed to burn the pita bread. I was hoping to find an excellent mediterranean spot after I returned from traveling the mediterranean. It wasn’t here, unfortunately. I had to throw the entire thing out.

I read all the reviews prior to heading in and I was fairly confident in my pick. This place is one of those places that will become a go to place for awesome food at a decent price. The inside is kind of run down but it in no way reflects the taste and quality of the food. The staff is helpful and very friendly. I had the combination platter and it was delicious. The lamb and chicken was my favorite. The rice was also very good. I was someone surprised by the presentation on the plate. Other than the sauces in plastic cups, the presentation was actually quite refined. They make fresh naan to order which was terrific and is served with aome hummus which I thought was tasty. The only negative is the tzatziki, its could be authentic but just not what I am used to. Overall, it was really good and I will be back. To the person, who gave it a bad review for not having very good Indian food, he might want to actually go to an Indian restaurant next time to rate Indian food.

This is the second Mediterranean restaurant I’ve tried recently. If you go to this one, I recommend the chicken. It was more moist than the beef and I liked the spice. It is set up like a fast food joint and the waiting staff was very nice. I’m trying to branch out and the sauces were good but I’d like to see some spicy options(heat). Another suggestion to set yourselves apart is to let the customer get their own sauces. That way they can choose how much they want or need. Otherwise, the place was welcoming and charming with a small grocery store attached.

I really just accidentally stumbled upon this place while looking for somewhere to eat lunch with a friend. Finding them on Unilocal was really easy… but finding them in real life was a little bit harder. If you Google the actual street address you’ll end up right outside of Fred’s pizza and be really confused because it will be nowhere in sight. The little hole in the wall is actually located on the east side of the building behind Fred’s on Pacific so it’s not technically on 119th… at least from your point of view if you’re on foot or in the car. Once you’re around the building it’s easy to spot the Farm Fresh market sign and the Sizzlin kabob is located inside. There are about six or seven different options of lunch combos you can do with variations in lamb, chicken, ground beef, ground chicken, and falafel kabob. Much of the pre-marinated meat is sitting there already on the skewers in the glass case and they grill it up for you when you order. I went with the platter option because I like salad and rice it also came with an order of naan. While I will admit that the salad and the rice was nothing special, I certainly enjoyed the different dipping sauces they offered one was a cilantro lime based green sauce and the other was a cucumber yogurt-based sauce. The chicken was absolutely amazing the big chunks were very very tender and soft but the outside grilled to perfection. The chicken was delicious with very flavorful seasonings. We got there at about 1130 which seemed to be empty but at 12 o’clock the lunch rush definitely came in. I would certainly recommend this as a lunch or dinner stop as the food was very good!

Went here for lunch today because I was in the neighborhood and Unilocaled it. I am apparently in the minority because I didn’t really like the food. I got my order to go because the dining area was filled up. The staff was very friendly, high marks there. The restaurant seems to share space with it’s next door neighbor grocery store. I ordered the Beef Kabob Platter for $ 8.99. It was done in a reasonable amount of time and I was on my way home. The salad that came with it was a little below average. It had one black olive, a couple thin slices of tomato and some basic lettuce, I’m not sure there was any dressing on it as I couldn’t detect any. There were two kabobs of pressed beef that was slightly seasoned and for the price a small portion. Not sure if I got a bad batch or what based on some of the other reviews but I thought the flavor of the beef was very bland. The rice was very good with more flavor than the beef. The tsaziki sauce came in a small container and was flavorful but runny for my tastes and there was not enough. There was a small container of hummus that also was flavorless and just not doing it for me. There was also a small container of a runny green sauce that was heavy on mint/cilantro? I used it to dip my naan in. As for the naan, sorry to sound like a broken record, but it was okay, I have had better. All in all, I have to say I was disappointed with my meal. For one thing, I was still hungry after shelling out over $ 9 for lunch. I’m by no means an expert on Indian food but I do know what makes my taste buds go «that was some tasty vittles». This wasn’t it.

Definitely not a fancy eatery, the entrance to the Sizzl’n Kabobs area is near the bulk rice and legumes bin in the grocery store. We opted for the Combo Kabob Platter($ 9.99) and the Shawarma platter($ 8.99) to go. With approximately 10 tables, eating in is definitely an option. However, after a long day of errand running, the thought of eating out of styro boxes while sitting on the couch seemed absolutely heavenly. While the salad was«meh» in comparison to the flavor parade packed into our carry away boxes. The rice was flavorful(watch out for those cardamom pods) and the homemade naan was delicious. In fact, I recommend peeking into the cooking area(it’s relatively open, after all) to see the magic of the naan making. Of the meats we tasted, the lamb was SO good. If you’re not a lamb fan(I know, crazy talk), then the beef shawarma’s lemony goodness might appeal to you as it appealed to us for dinner and again for lunch the next day. While the chicken was also good, but since I’m not really a chicken fan, I can’t really judge. The least fave was the ground beef. Don’t get me wrong, it was still tasty… just not as great as that lamb was. Although our meals were supposed to come with hummus, it was missing, so I’m a bit sad that I didn’t get to give that a go. Super basic ambience with an order at the counter situation. Limited menu made up of skewered meats, falafel and biryani. Great prices that range from $ 5.99−9.99. Incidentally, the rice, meats and naan reheat quite well the next day.

What a find! Sizzl’n Kabobs is connected with Farm Fresh Market(I did a review of this place a few weeks ago and knew I was coming back to eat here) They will start advertising on TV soon, so you need to try this place out before word spreads. You order at the counter and they will bring your plate to your table. I ordered the Combo Kabob Platter, cubed Lamb, ground Chicken and ground Beef(Shawarma?) and the flavors are tickling my soul. At first I thought the lamb was the beef, and the chicken was as tender as you could get it(I’ll be back just for a Chicken Kebab again). The rice itself is a treat, seasoned appropriately with Cumin and Cardamom, the Kebabs coming with a Tsaziki sauce and a spicy mint suace. Fresh Naan baked in their oven just tops everything off. The service is great, I’ve met one of the owners twice now, he is a perfect host. I was told by another customer(from Nazareth) that their Falafel sandwich is the best around… Next time!
